The European immigrants of old were NOT catered to when they came over, they didn't even have ESL. They were able to learn English and excel.

Oh, really? The United States has always had large communities of immigrants who kept to their own kind--they had their own foreign language newspapers, shops, churches. In other words the first generations frequentlty did not assimilate---please, let's get our facts straight.

But that was a different time in place, before the introduction of comprehensive taxpayer funded programs. Not disagreeing with your point, for today.

Most of the Asian immigrants have pride and self respect, most Mexicans are proud of how much they can steal from Gringos. It's a totally different mind set.

The invasion is soooo massive...they just don't feel like they have to assimilate. If immigration is kept in check...then we are not flooded by one group...and then they have no choice BUT to assimilate. Unfortunately, our government opened wide the gates...catered to these people for furthering their own agenda...open borders and free trade!!

This is right JAK. there are reasons why our legal immigration system has caps on the amount of "who" and "how many" can legally enter the United States in any given year. It's to prevent precisely what is now happening with the illegal invaders who are hispanic. There are so many of them from one particular grous, they feel as if they have no need to assimilate.

Therefore, combine this with the vast illegal invader sympathizers we have in our political leadership and you have the recipe for what we see today. A serious attitude from these people basically telling the United States to shove it to our requirements to assimilate.
