"The mood of the Laurel Hispanic community in the aftermath of the raid is fear, said Emmanuel Gonzales, a Howard Industries welder with a work visa. Gonzales was present during the raid but let go after his documents were examined and found valid. Originally from Vera Cruz, Mexico, Gonzales has lived in Laurel for nine years." ''

It seems the "Laurel Hispanic community" should well be named the "Laurel ILLEGAL community"!

"People are scared. They are hiding," he said. "They won't send their children to school. They are worried that someone will come to their house and take them away. They can't get help because they are scared."
The only ones who are "scared or in hiding" are those who have done something wrong which warrants being 'scared or hiding!'

Regarding the separation of those detained into separate lines for "Hispanics and non-Hispanics", I read in another article a listing of the countries from which the suspected illegal detainees came. With the exception of Germany, all were in Latin America. Thus I presume the majority-Hispanics-were placed in one line in order to provide Spanish translators for them. Since Americans always are told that such people "come here to find work" and to "make a better life for themselves", it certainly is ironic that Germany has one of the strongest economies and highest standards of living in the world!

Good grief, how long are those work visas good for??
Great Question! With Citizens lining up for the newly "opened" jobs there does not seem to be a need for guest workers here.

[i]If and ONLY IF "guest workers" are allowed to enter the United States it should be for just one "designated" job (if for a harvest, two or three month period until the harvest is completed but no longer than six months for any one job) then return to their HOME country and get in line for the next job after a waiting period of "six" to "nine" months before they may return again as a "guest worker". The EMPLOYER and the UNION will be jointly responsible for the "guest workers" leaving the country. If the "guest workers" do not leave the country as designated the "guest worker", now an ILLLEGAL, the "employersâ€

LAUREL - When federal agents raided the Howard Industries plant early Monday, they sealed off the exits and made it impossible for any of the workers to escape, some of the detainees released said Tuesday.

Watch.......this will be the next big bitch from the IAs and their advocates......that human rights were violated because law enforcement sealed off all possible means of escape.

"When we saw that immigration had us surrounded, it wasn't worth running," one woman, who didn't want her identity published, said through a translator. "All we could think about was what was going to happen to our children. We were worried about them."

What a crock, all they could do is worry about their children. They've always got to drag the kids into it.

"They asked us questions like: 'Do you have children or a husband?' 'Where do you leave your children?' 'Have you been arrested before?'" one woman said. "They let us stay, but they put us on house arrest."

Hooray......confirmation from an actual detainee that ICE does, in fact, NOT abandon children in the process of arresting the criminal parents.

Let the advocates stick that in their pipes..........

    .
"They don't know what they are going to do. They can't work," he said. "Their greatest worry is feeding their children and paying their rent when they don't have an income.

Awwwww. But all of that was perfectly okay for American citizens, forced out of jobs by illegal aliens, right Pastor?

Now might be a good time for this guy to remind his flock that one reaps what one sows

Velez plans to set up a food pantry and financial assistance for families affected by the raid based on donations from the community.

Good!!! Now's as good a time as any for the churches to start shelling out some of the cash they've had no problems collecting from the illegals.

Wait till they begin being crushed by the demands placed upon them.......see how they like it.

"People are scared. They are hiding," he said. "They won't send their children to school. They are worried that someone will come to their house and take them away. They can't get help because they are scared."

Hate to break it to 'em, but fear is a mainstay in the life of a criminal. It comes with the choice to engage in illegal activity.

    Expect no sympathy here.
    That commentary was awesome, AZ!

I find it hard to believe that ICE seperated Hispanics from non-Hispanics. That sounds like someone made it up.
I do too! From all the other raids I've read about, ICE separates them by making 2 lines: one for legal workers and one for no documents.

It's not like the illegals are not gonna get caught after they get interviewed anyway. They know this. So they line up in the "illegal" line.

They will suck the churches dry and then have some " Faith Based Initiative " (read Taxpayers ) bail them out.

And giving and giving and giving.

How absolutely horrible. It is called tactics in defense of US national security. Of course, if all the complainers didn't speak English well enough to understand that, they should go back to their native countries to see what cruel justice is dealt out there. Getting locked into an airconditioned building is not torture.

Sounds to me like a job for LaRaza and the Ford Foundation, they are the ones who wanted these people here, we sure didn't!
