Thread: Professors: US flag symbolizes racism, should not be displayed on campus

So let me get this straight. Someone took down the flag in the council lobby and wrote an anonymous note saying "this shouldn't be in the lobby" and put the note with the flag in the Council President's Office. Although the President likes the flag in the lobby and put it back, a resolution from the Legislative Body to ban all flags came about, based on the action of an anonymous person who wrote an anonymous note.

It's time for the Provocateur to show himself or herself and address his/her reasons a) why he/she hates America and b) why he/she didn't sign their name to the note.

The flag is very important to the American people for valid reasons. This flag symbolizes the soul of our country that fueled our revolution and independence from England. This flag represents a nation of people who from its beginning risked everything including their lives and property for freedom and the right to be left alone. Descendants of these people carried this flag during the bloodiest war ever fought by Americans a few decades later to guarantee that freedom and right to be left alone for black Americans held in bondage and end slavery in the United States, the only nation in the history of the world to fight a civil war to end slavery. This flag probably carries as much meaning to tens of millions of Europeans, Chinese, Russians, North Africans, Filipinos, Vietnamese and Koreans who every day of that war waited for the Americans to get to them. And other times for other people before and after WWII and yes even to this day.

So to the Professors who "signed the letter", condemning our flag as a symbol of "nationalism", "racism" and "xenophobia", this is your display of courage, this is your example of valiance, this is your contribution to world peace? Really? Without even knowing your names, who you are or where you're from, whether from here or over there somewhere, this flag that you're condemning represents the courage and valiance of a nation that guarantees your right to condemn it and the only reason there is world peace.

This flag also assures your right to make utter Jack Asses out of yourselves, disgrace your employer, misguide the students you're paid to teach, and generate the contempt you so richly deserve.
