'I am not a racist. I am not an alarmist. I am an epidemiologist'

    Published: 4 hours ago

The establishment media’s refusal to acknowledge that once-contained or eradicated diseases are re-entering the U.S. through the latest flood of illegal aliens isn’t a surprise to Michael Savage, who earned a doctorate in epidemiology at the University of California at Berkeley before becoming a top nationally syndicated talk-radio host.

“What the liberal media is hiding from you can be dangerous for your safety, your security and your health,” he told his listeners.

After earning his doctorate in 1978 and writing six books, Savage pitched to publishers a book titled “Immigrants and Epidemics,” which he wrote with the dean of a “prestigious public health university.”

“Although all my previous books had done well,” Savage recalled, “all publishers in New York City in 1982 said we cannot publish a book on immigrants and epidemics, no matter how well (documented) or factually true it is. We can’t publish it for political reasons.”

The rejection angered him, he said, and was one of the reasons he eventually decided to go into talk radio, in 1994.
Since then, he said, “I’ve been trying to warn Americans about what unscreened immigrants will be bringing into America.”
‘You’re not going to hear this’

As thousands of illegal-alien children, prompted by President Obama’s policies, overwhelm the capacity of southern border states, Border Patrol agents who essentially have been turned into child caretakers are being exposed to disease, Savage said.

“Right now, you’re not going to hear this, but we have Tuberculosis, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, Chagas disease – previously eradicated from Southern California – on the rise and testing positive in … Border Patrol agents,” Savage said.

Other diseases emerging among Border Patrol agents, he said, include H1N1 Swine flu and chicken pox.

“The Border Patrol is being threatened with lawsuits and firing if they disclose this,” he said. “Congressmen are being turned away from the border as they go to investigate this surge of infected illegal aliens being thrown across the border at us.”
Speaking to his critics, Savage pointed to his academic qualifications.

“It’s easy for you to say I’m simply an alarmist or a racist, I’m a this-ist or a that-ist,” he said. “Well you’ve got it all wrong.

The only “ist” I am is an epidemiologist. I am not a racist. I am not an alarmist. I am an epidemiologist by training.”

    ‘Next American revolution’

Savage called the border crisis an “invasion orchestrated in the White House for political reasons.”

It reached a flashpoint Tuesday when protesters blocked buses from transporting illegal-alien children from Central America to Border Patrol facilities in Murrieta, California, south of Los Angeles.

Savage sees the Murrieta protest as a seminal moment in which the “real America” said no to the government.
“It’s the beginning of the next American revolution,” he said. “This is not a joke. Take a look at their faces: Women, men, children holding signs ‘Stop illegal immigration.’”

Savage criticized House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for justifying the violation of law by emphasizing that “every person has a spark of divinity in them.”

“Sure, they have a spark of divinity,” Savage responded, but, he asked, “What kind of mothers would do to humans what they wouldn’t do to a dog?

“If you drop a dog off on the side of a street and run away, you’re considered a bad person; you could be arrested,” he said. “But the federal government has no problem with dropping children off on the side of a road?”

Savage asked if Americans really understand what will happen “when a soccer mom awakens one morning and her daughter’s hair is crawling with lice?”

“Do you understand what’s going to happen when she awakens one morning and her little darling comes home testing positive for Tuberculosis, because one of the divinely inspired children of Nancy Pelosi was permitted to enter that classroom with Tuberculosis?”

    Failure to follow the Constitution

He rattled off a series of further questions:

    • “Do you know that your U.S. government officials can be arrested for refusing to protect Americans from the dangerous diseases that they are exposing us to?”
    • “Do you understand they are waging a war against conservative communities by bringing in whole populations of automatic Democrat voters, legal or illegal?”
    • “Do you understand that this is not ultra-tolerance for immigrants but a war against America?”

In his 2005 book “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder,” Savage noted in a chapter called “Alien invasion” that Republican President Ronald Reagan signed legislation allowing amnesty, which, according to most experts, made the illegal-alien problem worse.
“If you think it’s a problem that began with Obama, you’re mistaken,” Savage told his listeners Wednesday.

In his 2005 book, he noted that the U.S. Constitution requires the federal government to “protect each state against invasion.”
Both Republicans and Democrats are responsible, Savage said.

“Thanks to their failure to follow the Constitution with the same fervor with which they slavishly follow poll numbers,” he wrote, “our borders are more porous than your grandmother’s sieve.”

Anxious health ministers from 11 countries in emergency meeting

UNITED NATIONS – Health ministers from 11 West African countries began a two-day Emergency Ministerial meeting in Accra, Ghana, Wednesday amid concern the outbreak of the Ebola virus that began in Ghana could spread across their region as an uncontrolled pandemic.

In a statement distributed at the United Nations, the World Health Organization, WHO, classified the current Ebola outbreak as the worst ever.

The outbreak traces back to cases appearing in rural Guinea in March, which spread across Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. So far, a total of 750 cases and 455 deaths have been reported in the affected countries, according to WHO.
Reuters reported Wednesday the Red Cross was forced to temporarily suspend some operations in the country’s southeast after a marked Red Cross vehicle was confronted and stopped by a knife-wielding mob that was concerned the medical workers were responsible for spreading the disease.

The WHO regional director for Africa, Dr. Luis Gomes Sambo, speaking at the opening session of the Accra meeting, called for urgent, collective cross-actions to bring an end to the outbreak.

“Your leadership is critical in ensuring that preventive and containment measures are effectively implemented in your countries,” Sambo said. “To this end, I would like to stress the need to redeploy human resources and reallocate funds to facilitate operations in affected communities.”

Sambo observed that the continuing spread of the Ebola virus is largely associated with some cultural practices and traditional beliefs that are contrary to recommended public health preventive measures. Also, the extensive movement of people within and across borders has facilitated the rapid spread of the infection across three countries.

“In Liberia, our biggest challenge is denial, fear and panic. Our people are very much afraid of the disease,” Bernice Dahn, Liberia’s deputy health minister, told Reuters at the Accra meeting. “People are afraid but do not believe that the disease exists and because of that people get sick and the community members hide them and bury them, against all the norms we have put in place.”

Reuters noted that health authorities are trying to stop relatives of Ebola victims from giving traditional funerals in which family members wash the body and eat a meal in the presence of the deceased prior to burial.

Given the highly contagious nature of the disease, WHO guidelines require health care medical professionals working with Ebola patients to wear full rubber protection suits, including face mask and goggles, gloves, rubber boots and a full-length apron in Guinea’s sweltering heat and humidity.

In a series of heart-breaking emails written home, U.S.-based doctor William Fisher described the brutal reality of the rampant Ebola epidemic he experienced working for three weeks with physicians from Médecins Sans Frontières, or Doctors Without Borders, in a cement building in West Guinea set up to treat victims.

In an email June 2, Fisher described the death of a patient:

Today was a pretty tough day – one of the first two patients I admitted on May 30 died. I walked into his room and he was on the floor half naked surrounded by bloody emesis and diarrhea. I put him back in bed, bathed him, and put fresh clothes on him and as I finished he died.

It’s pretty emotional to bathe a 27-year-old man who was incredibly strong and rendered completely helpless. His sister is next door and will likely die in the next hour. This is all in front of the other patients in the room, many of whom are family members or neighbors. The despair is suffocating. My computer is running out of batteries. Sorry, more to come.
His description of the workers clothed with a head-to-foot rubber suit was equally compelling:

Yesterday, I went into the isolation zone carrying a small thermometer in my pocket to measure the temperature in my suit – 46 C or about 115 F. We spend between 1-2 hours in there at a time, typically, 2-3 times per day. You lose all sense of time once you’re inside, but have to pay very close attention to your breathing and heart rate and head out when they start to increase, as it takes 10 minutes to actually get out.

Addressing the delegates at the ministerial meeting in Accra, Dr. Sherry Ayittey, the minister of health of Ghana, said: “We are here to make a real difference … a difference that will be felt beyond this room for millions of people in dire need for solutions. We have a small window of opportunity to prevent the outbreak of Ebola from spreading further.”

The WHO reports Ebola first appeared in 1976 in two simultaneous outbreaks, in Nzara, Sudan, and in a village in Yambuku, Democratic Republic of Congo, situated near the Ebola River, from which the disease takes its name.

“Ebola is introduced into the human population through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals,” the WHO website notes.

“In Africa,” WHO says, “infection has been documented through the handling of infected chimpanzees, gorillas, fruit bats, monkeys, forest antelope and porcupines found dead or ill in the rainforest.”

Ebola spreads from close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected people.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warn the symptoms of Ebola include fever, headache, joint and muscle aches, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain and lack of appetite. Some patients also experience a rash, red eyes, hiccups, cough, sore throat, chest pain, difficulty breathing and swallowing, as well as bleeding inside and outside of the body.

After an incubation period of between two and 21 days, the Ebola virus can cause death a few days after the virus appears in particularly virulent cases where the body organs shut down and internal bleeding becomes unstoppable.

The Ebola virus has alarmed international health officials because the frequency of international air travel has increased the possibility the outbreak in one nation might quickly be transmitted to other countries by patients in the incubation phase of the infection.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease on the rise

Primary Children's Hospital tracking summertime illnesses

SALT LAKE CITY (News4Utah) -- Pediatricians are seeing a higher number of hand, foot and mouth disease than normal in the Salt Lake Valley. We can all do a better job at preventing the spread of the disease by hand washing.

    Symptoms include:

    • Fever
    • Reduced appetite
    • A sore throat
    • A feeling of being unwell
    • Sores, rash, bumps, and blisters

It's usually seen in children under 5 years old, but it can happen in older children and adults.

"It's usually worse for the children but occasionally there is a strain that can make you miserable," said Dr. Per Gesteland, U of U School of Medicine, Primary Children's Hospital.

Hand foot and mouth disease is contagious and very common in daycares.

"Be vigilant, if you or your child get sick, try not to go out. Wait until your child doesn't have a fever anymore and the sores are healed up," said Dr. Gesteland.

Primary Children's Hospital says other illnesses they're watching are gastrointestinal illnesses often spread at picnics or parties and they're also seeing several respiratory viruses going around, which are seen normally in the winter.

The influx of illegal immigrant children have more consequences than just breaking our laws and taxing our border patrol — they’re bringing diseases with them, too. And when radio host Douglas Gibbs found out his granddaughter got hand, foot, and mouth diseasebecause of the flood of illegal immigrants, he got involved in the protests.

Though the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) refuses to discuss the origin of the current outbreak of Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68, the fact that emergency rooms across the country began seeing infected children around the same time as the nation's public schools were re-opening for the 2013-2014 school year, should serve as at least a clue as to how the virus made its way here.

Of course, the Obama administration has allowed tens of thousands of children to enter this country illegally over the past several months, and most of them have now been admitted to our public schools.

Between Oct. 1, 2013 and Aug. 31, 2014 there were 66,127 so-called "unaccompanied minors" entered this country along our Southern border and processed by officials, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The CBP lists the country of origin for most of those children...

Healthy School Lunches, Unhealthy Illegal Classmates

    July 3, 2014
Healthy School Lunches, Unhealthy Illegal Classmates

    By Jeannie DeAngelis

For years, Americans have been harangued with the “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act” school lunch program. Under the auspices of Barack Obama’s wife’s concerns about child wellness, the federal government has rigorously limited food choices in public school cafeterias.

Promoting and preserving good health has become so fundamental to American culture it now justifies stringent bureaucratic oversight to ensure that schoolchildren no longer participate in things like traditional in-classroom birthday and holiday celebrations.

What’s odd is that the same supposedly über-concerned government attempting to prod America’s children toward making better food choices are also undermining their long-term health by cooperating with a president determined to subject those eating more wholesome lunches in the cafeteria to an influx of unwholesome Third World students in the classroom.

How can that be, you ask? Well, thousands of illegals are streaming across our open borders, and as they do, the “Brown Shirts” are threatening to arrest border patrol staff and medical personnel if they dare divulge the shocking truth about the hordes of ill people being released into the general population.

The diseases being imposed on the otherwise healthy, both in and out of the classroom, are so lethal that millions of schoolchildren, obese and otherwise, are about to be exposed to pathogens that may end up drastically reducing the need for governmental calorie monitoring and the birth control Sandra Fluke believes should be paid for from the taxes of soon-to-be sick Americans.

For example, in the blue state of California, in the city of Sacramento, there is currently a TB outbreak in Grant Union High School, which may be why the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in anticipation of the various diseases accompanying the surge of illegal aliens, has set up an “emergency operation center.”

So here’s the obvious question: How does the healthy lunch program improve the health of kids forced to share classrooms with illegals sporting head lice and spreading disease microbes long eradicated from the U.S.?

If various infectious diseases are gaining entry into America’s classrooms, isn’t banning sweets from school grounds an exercise in futility? What good are double helpings of Edamame bean salad when diseases like MRSA, scabies, swine flu, whooping cough, Ebola virus, and MDR-TB are poised to eradicate more Americans, both young and old, than a high BMI ever could?

What possible benefit is vegetarian chili being included in America’s school lunch program if students are forced to share a textbook in study hall with a child who may be infected with hand, foot and mouth disease?

It just doesn’t make sense for Mama Obama to push a healthy kids’ agenda while Papa Barack purposely cultivates an illegal-alien disease epidemic of Biblical proportions.

Why, in the name of children’s health, should schoolchildren be forced to gag down fruits and vegetables and exchange origami instead of sugary confections, when deadly bacteria in their midst can potentially do far more damage than a chocolate cupcake?

As for those healthy-lunch-abused school kids, what’s worse – Tater Tots and hot dogs or being assigned a science lab partner sporting scabies under a ‘Made in Guatemala’ T-shirt?

No one is exempt this time. Even Barack Obama’s most ardent supporters are poised to get a wakeup call, because guess what – microorganisms searching for hosts don’t distinguish between political parties, nor do blood-thirsty mosquitoes infected with dengue hemorrhagic fever and chikungunya virus.

Regrettably, at this perilous juncture in our nation’s history, these are the sorts of life-threatening dilemmas America must face thanks to a president playing a very dangerous game with our lives. s.html

Limbaugh: Is illness tied to Obama's release of immigrant children all over U.S.?

Just weeks after the Obama administration let more than 37,000 illegal-alien children into the U.S. without health screening, more than 1,000 kids across 10 states have been stricken with a respiratory virus – prompting widespread concerns about a major outbreak sweeping across the nation.

On his Monday show, talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh explored the possibility of a link between the flood of illegal aliens and the spread of a severe and rare respiratory virus known as Enterovirus D68, or EV-D68.

“Obama will not tell anybody where all of the children that have crossed the border in the last four months have been relocated to,” Limbaugh said.

“There are a bunch of people who want to know. We had these kids cross the border from El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, wherever they came from in Central America, and they were processed real quickly. They were gotten in, gotten out, and they’ve been distributed all over the country. And Obama won’t tell anybody where he put ‘em. … The regime will not announce where they are.”

Limbaugh asked, “Are the two stories related or are they not? Does this sweeping, mysterious virus that’s multiplying across the Midwest, does it have anything to do with it or not? We don’t know. That’s the answer. We just don’t know. But some people think there may be some kind of a connection.”

Another talk-radio giant, Michael Savage, blasted Obama for releasing the illegal-alien children in all 50 states: “This population in America, which once enjoyed the greatest health on earth, is now being devolved into a second-world nation in terms of health because Obama is so corrupt, was so ignorant, was so evil that he’s taken what was once the greatest nation on earth and devolving us into a second nation status.”

Savage, who earned a doctorate in epidemiology at the University of California at Berkeley, declared on his show Monday, “For 20 years, I’ve been trying to warn America about the unscreened immigrants being brought in. Now, of course, it’s coming home to roost and the American people are being lied to by the Centers for Disease Transmission. They used to be the CDC; they’re now the CDT.

“Instead of stopping disease spread, they’re encouraging it by not speaking out against bringing in infected children and putting them in our public schools, right? It’s astounding to me what they can get away with because of the ignorance of the public. Common sense is gone. … What do you expect to happen if you put a kid with a certain virus into a school where they’ve never been exposed to that virus? It’s called an epidemic breakout.”

Listen to Savage’s comments on the issue Monday:

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement has released a state-by-state breakdown of 37,477 unaccompanied children released to sponsors across America.
Five states where the federal government released the most children include:
    Texas: 5,280 children
    New York: 4,244 children
    California: 3,909
    Florida: 3,809
    Virginia: 2,856
The states currently impacted by the outbreak include Missouri, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio and Oklahoma – states that have received some of the smallest numbers of illegal-alien minors under the program.

The following map illustrates the virus outbreak in the Midwest and the number of children each state has accepted:

SC- 'Ghost virus' affecting children throughout the Midlands, Hand Foot and Mouth

'Ghost virus' affecting children throughout the Midlands

Posted: Jul 08, 2014 5:18 PM CDTUpdated: Jul 09, 2014 7:12 AM CDTBy Mike DeSumma

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -Kids usually show signs of illness quickly.

At St. Michael's Early Learning Center, the staff cares for more than 50 children each day and what staffers are seeing are cases of kids catching a fast-acting illness.

"The virus itself," St. Michael's Early Learning Center Director Rebecca Maitland said, "the hand, the foot and mouth, it's aptly named because it shows up on the hands, the feet, and in the mouth and sometimes, it's just inside the mouth. So, you don't even see it at all."

Maitland said about a dozen children have come down with the sickness known as the hand, foot, and mouth disease in the past six weeks. In some cases, they've also developed a high fever. There are also small outbreaks that doctors say can be common with hand, foot, and mouth during the summer.

"Given as to how contagious it is and how short a time you have to get them out of daycare," Dr. Brandon Emery said, "it's kind of hard to contain like that."

General symptoms of the virus include fever followed by blisters in the mouth and a rash according to the Department of Health and Environmental Control. Rashes can also appear on the child's hands and the soles of their feet.

Emery said it's the playful nature of kids that makes them so susceptible to the illness. The virus is usually untraceable with kids up to five days before their parents see any symptoms. That's more than enough time for them to interact with others and possibly spread it.

"It lives on hard surfaces like phones, lights, tables and chairs," Emery said. " So, a kid would touch that and, then, touch their face. So, then, they've been exposed to the virus that way, too. That's the reason you have the high infectivity in children."

Being a virus, doctors believe there are few way to get a handle on hand, foot and mouth. A visit to the doctor may be required if your child develops a fever. Emery said the best way to prevent any spread is frequent hand washing as well as down time if your child comes down with the virus.

"If the child is sick, they do not need to be in daycare," Emery said.

    Daycare providers agree.

"Please," Maitland said, "if they're running a fever, excessively cranky, please keep them at home because that's the best place for them."

The good news is doctors say your child will likely only get the hand, foot, and mouth virus once.

Wipe down those grocery carts with disinfectant before you load your food and kids into them.

They just keep letting them in desease and all. American families have to pay for the treatment when their family members are infected with these diseases, the government pays for the illegal's medical care.
