Border Patrol was turning them away. they weren't letting them in. Those were the orders from Trump through DHS. We weren't privy to the actual memos and phone calls, we know what he ordered through his tweets and actions:

    Tweet: "We're closed".

Action: Ordered National Guard to the border.

Action: Called Mexico to stop the caravan before it gets to the US.

In any event, it doesn't make any sense to argue about it, so I'm not going to, the bottom line is, none of it is working so we need a different plan. I have my Judy's Plan B, which I like. Maybe you all can come up with something you like.

I hope Trump comes up with something we all like. Maybe if we get more Republicans, he can get his 70 point plan through Congress.

At that same time, Jeff Sessions went to the Border and held a press conference, I think in Arizona. He announced the policy of "zero tolerance", telling the universe you will be arrested and prosecuted. In order for that to happen, you have to admit them, arrest them, detain them, separate the families, and prosecute.

I don't know if Jeff Sessions intended to cross-wires with the President's orders, but he did. Border Patrol who was turning them away, started letting them in, detaining them, separating them, and holding them for prosecution. Then the media got involved in the "separations", then the lawsuits and courts got involved and stopped that and so all the people admitted, detained, separated and held for prosecution were released by the courts because DOJ can't process and prosecute or even deport within the legal time frame before a release is required by the courts.
    --------------------------

#1----Border Patrol was NOT turning them away
#2----Now, to your claim about Sessions Press Conference announcing Zero Tolerance caused Border Patrol to start allowing them in. Border Patrol had never Stopped them, therefore you can't restart something that has never been stopped. It is delusional to claim Session caused Border Patrol to do anything, Border patrol does not take orders from Sessions.

    Neither does the President.

If you are asking me that question, I want them kept out. I don't think anyone here has posted "put the full military on the border" more often than I have.

How you got that I don't want them kept out because I corrected you on your original statement that Trump was keeping them out by tweeting to Border Patrol to "Stop them" and Sessions changed that, I'll never know.

I agree with you on keep them out, this is an invasion, I just want to correct your statement that Trump had stopped them and Sessions cross wired and changed that!

You can't correct me, I'm right. I watched it happen. Border Patrol was turning them away at the border. Sessions out of the blue flies to Arizona, has his zero tolerance speech about arresting and prosecuting, then Border Patrol started taking them in and moving them to detention and separating the families. That's what happened. I have no clue why Sessions preferred to let them in to detain them. Makes no sense. There is no law that prevented Border Patrol from turning them away, slowing it down, or bouncing them out after their initial interview at the border.

You obviously missed the sequence so it doesn't matter.

You mentioned earlier that Border Patrol was stopping them---I asked for links---you gave 3 and NONE of them showed Border Patrol stopping them. One was even a video with a left wing hysterical title something about them being stopped, but the video showed no such action happening, simple left wing hysterical drama and apparently you fell for it.

One more time---the Border Patrol does not take orders from Sessions.

I assume you're talking about all the asylum claimants that arrived in the caravan. Technically they were not turning them away. There were just delaying their entry temporarily. That's why they were being told to come back tomorrow. Unfortunately, our law doesn't allow asylum claimants to be turned away without first receiving a credible fear interview.

As for illegals, the plan has always been to process them prior to deportation because they were caught on our side of the border. Just swooshing them back across the border would do nothing but have them attempt to reenter somewhere else along the border. So how many attempts do you think it takes an illegal to successfully cross our porous border? I'll wager you not many. Illegals, drug smugglers, human traffickers, etc. aren't kept out just because they see some agents at the border. What they do is wait or find somewhere else to enter. Unfortunately, that's just the way it is and that's how it will continue until our border is fully secured!

You didn't understand the setting at the border, I guess. They were turned away, not let into the buildings, told they were full and couldn't process any more, this was all televised on the Fox News and even CNN. It went on for days, a lot gave up waiting and left.

Sessions didn't go by himself, he took Immigration Judges with him to the border to process them, to let them in and be processed.

I'm sorry you missed all this, but that's what happened.

We go from not letting them to letting them in an separating the families to family detentions.

Just makes no sense at all. Sessions thinks these long detainments will discourage others as deterrents.

    I just can't relive this ... it's too depressing.

Yep, it has been well established around here that you're always right and anyone that disagrees or sees things differently than you is wrong.

You're wrong, wrong, wrong. They were told the processing station was full for the day and to come back. This went on for several days until all the asylum claimants were processed as required by law.
