At that same time, Jeff Sessions went to the Border and held a press conference, I think in Arizona. He announced the policy of "zero tolerance", telling the universe you will be arrested and prosecuted. In order for that to happen, you have to admit them, arrest them, detain them, separate the families, and prosecute.

I don't know if Jeff Sessions intended to cross-wires with the President's orders, but he did. Border Patrol who was turning them away, started letting them in, detaining them, separating them, and holding them for prosecution. Then the media got involved in the "separations", then the lawsuits and courts got involved and stopped that and so all the people admitted, detained, separated and held for prosecution were released by the courts because DOJ can't process and prosecute or even deport within the legal time frame before a release is required by the courts.
Yes, we all remember when Trump tweeted to "Stop it" and that worked so great.

Yes, we remember when he sent the National Guard to the border and patted himself on the back, because they were shoveling horse manure and changing oil in vehicles.

Border Control is not turning them back, they are doing rescues instead.

Tweets to "Stop it" have not, are not, will not get the job done.

Jeff Sessions did not cross any wires when he said zero tolerance. He was referring to ones who stepped foot on US soil. Sessions is not the CIC, he can NOT stop them from coming in. He has to deal with the cards that are handed him.

What did you want Sessions to say, I will step outside my job description and become the CIC and Stop this?

So Sessions is not stopping illegal immigration, he's abiding the laws that let them in and let them stay. Yes, I believe that is correct, so Trump is going to issue a new Executive Order on immigration in a few weeks to hopefully straighten this all out. The purpose of our laws concerning illegal aliens is to keep them out and get them out, so if you're doing the opposite and letting them in and letting them stay for years waiting for a deportation hearing, then this is a very serious conflict with the whole purpose of the laws and why we have them to begin with.

Session is the Attorney General, he can NOT stop them from entering!

That's Border Patrol's job in a completely different department, and Sessions should have stayed out of it. Instead he whisks himself down to the Border to meet with Border Patrol and hold his big press conference about "zero tolerance" which to Sessions meant letting them in, detaining them and prosecuting them, knowing full well the courts would require they be released awaiting their "hearing" 7 or 8 years from now.

Your exaggerations and hyperbole isn't helpful to the discussion.

Will this executive order be more successful than his order to end catch & release?

Border Patrol was doing what Trump said to do, "We're closed", that means don't let them in, keep them out. Border Patrol is in DHS, not DOJ. Sessions had no role in what DHS is doing so why go down there and insert yourself into it? Makes no sense.

Same with DACA. Sessions inserted himself into DACA. DACA was rescinded by a Memo signed by Elaine Duke, Acting Secretary of DHS. Why did Sessions hold a press conference announcing what another department was actually doing? Makes no sense.

You're absolutely right, that's a DHS function (border patrol). He can only play with the cards he's dealt and I think he's doing the best job that can be done in that endeavor. I don't think even Judy can deny that he is highly motivated and dedicated in dealing with the immigration problems we're having.

Blaming everything on Sessions is something I expect from President Trump, but not my fellow ALIPAC members.

No one is blaming Sessions for anything other than what he did or does that doesn't make a lot of sense and goes cross-wires with what the President asked be done and what most Americans think should and should have been done. Keep them out, don't let them in to begin with.

I don't think most Americans want our government letting these people into the country, most Americans want our government to keep them out to begin with. You know "we're closed", "stay out", "go away".

I sure hope so. There's no reason to waste money letting them in, detaining them, processing them, only to release them. We need a different plan, hopefully Trump is coming up with something that will work this time.
