Stop Anti-Latino Bigotry by La Raza Supporter
I need everyone's help with this. We need to email the pro La Raza reporter who wrote this article and correct him. One comment he made was that the majority of Americans are against immigration where inreality most Americans are against ILLEGAL immigration. There are other comments that need to be corrected as well.

Time to hit back against anti-Latino bigotry
BY ANDRES OPPENHEIMER
aoppenheimer@MiamiHerald.com
Here is what the National Council of La Raza -- the biggest U.S. Hispanic organization -- should do at its annual meeting in Miami this week: draw from the experience of African Americans and Jewish Americans by launching an all-out campaign to expose anti-Latino bigots in the media, entertainment and politics.
The recent immigration debate in the Senate, which ended with the defeat of a bill that would have given a path to citizenship to many of the 12 million undocumented workers, has given way to the biggest explosion of antiHispanic sentiment I have seen since I arrived in this country three decades ago.
Most Hispanics feel the same way. A new nationwide poll by Bendixen and Associates says 76 percent of U.S. Hispanics agree with the statement that ''anti-immigrant sentiment is growing in the United States,'' and 62 percent say this phenomenon has directly affected them or their families.
Few Hispanics believe statements by rabid antiimmigration radio and television hosts who say they only oppose ''illegal immigration.'' When asked what fuels the current anti-immigrant sentiment in the United States, 64 percent of Hispanics in the poll mentioned one factor: ``racism against immigrants from Latin America.''
Indeed, in recent times we have heard statements on radio and television that go far beyond the boundaries of fair debate over the need to fix the U.S. immigration system, and that twist the facts in ways that make it difficult to believe in the good faith of those who make them.
It's not just what fearmongers such as CNN's Lou Dobbs or radio talk show hosts Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage allow to be said in their shows, which systematically blame Hispanics for many of America's ills. Prominent academics such as Harvard University political scientist Samuel Huntington are getting away with sweeping statements such as ``America's Latino immigration deluge . . . constitutes a major potential threat to the cultural and possibly political integrity of the United States.''
While the 44 million Hispanics are the biggest minority in America, you don't see the kind of nationwide protests, legal actions or calls for boycotts on a scale that you would probably see if these statement were directed against African Americans or Jewish Americans.
When you visit the website of the NAACP, one of the first things you see is an 'NAACP `Stop' Campaign'' headline, which is a call to action against racism in the media.
The NAACP and other African American groups regularly launch name-and-shame campaigns, and most recently forced the firing of radio host Don Imus over an April comment calling the Rutgers University women's basketball team ``nappy-headed hos.''
The Jewish Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has been exposing racism in the media since 1913.
But when you go to The National Council of La Raza's website, you don't find a similar emphasis on fighting bigotry. The group's main theme is ''Ya es hora!,'' a voter registration drive conducted alongside the Spanish-language Univisión network and other Latino organizations aimed at adding two million new Hispanic votes for the 2008 election.
La Raza President Janet Murguia conceded in an interview Friday that Hispanics need to do more to fight back against bigotry in the media.
''We do need to rethink our strategy; there is no question about it,'' Murguia told me.
``But the key change that we need to focus on is to make sure that we can influence the outcome of elections. Getting madder doesn't necessarily help, but getting smarter will help.''
My opinion: The National Council of La Raza and its sister institutions are doing the right thing with their ''Ya es hora!'' citizenship drive. But they should also launch a nationwide ''Ya basta!'' campaign to identify, name and shame those who systematically bash Hispanics.
If anti-Hispanic sentiment is allowed to keep growing, we will soon have an underclass of 12 million immigrants that will feel not only frustrated by not having a legal path to citizenship but increasingly insulted by the mainstream media.
And social exclusion mixed with frustration can be a dangerous cocktail, as we've seen in the violent 2005 riots by Muslim youths in the suburbs of Paris.
The time for Hispanics to say ''Ya basta!'' is now, before it's too lateJoin our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

So tell me why is it OK to be racist as long as you are in a minority?
Examples:
La Raza (the race)
NAACP
UNCF
and there are many more. What if the were an organization called NAAWP(National Association for the Advancement of White People) or one called UCCF (United Caucasian College Fund)? They would be considered racist groups. Why? Why is it that these groups are allowed to florish to the exclusion of all other races therefore making them racist groups.Never give up! Never surrender! Never compromise your values!*

This piece, as usual, is intentionally spun to fit the agenda. That's called propaganda and not part of the journalist's creed. Therefore, as a non-journalist, this guy also needs to study up on the terms he uses so loosely. For example, the term hispanic actually is an American, not English, word and is a shortening of the Spanish word hispanohablantes, which means "Spanish speaker." That's all. Nothing magic. Many children born to second- and third-generation Latinos cannot read or write Spanish. What race shall we use to describe them? Latino, which in Spanish means "Latin" but which as an English word is probably a shortening of the Spanish word latinoamericano refers more exclusively to persons or communities of Latin American origin. So by implication, in this nation, the term Latino also means citizen. In other words it connotes American citizen with Latin American ancestry. All the Latinos I know would rather be known simply as American.
So with the one term too broad for precision usage and the other one implying citizenship, what do we call folks from Mexico? Well, Mexicans of course. And from El Salvador, Salvadorans. That's all. Nothing magic. And the only racism in this issue is introduced by la Raza. You must already know they need an emotional issue to propagandize that whites are guilty of victimizing all hispanics and Latinos rather than simply opposing illegal aliens, a much smaller number. And we all know why they need that emotional issue. It's the money of course. That's all. Nothing magic. The oldest motive of all.'58 Airedale

I just sent this to Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart:
"Speaking to delegates during lunch yesterday, Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart, Florida Republican and a Cuban immigrant, urged them to help preserve Spanish.
"It is important that we emphasize the Spanish language and that we keep the Spanish language, and that we transmit that emphasis to our children and our grandchildren," he said."
"That had an extraordinary impact in the Senate, and as a nation, I don't think we should be comfortable with the fact that the United States Senate responded to what was largely a wave of hate," Cecilia Munoz, the National Council of La Raza's senior vice president for research, advocacy and legislation, told The Washington Times after meeting with NCLR affiliates to talk about a new strategy. www.washingtontimes.com
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A "wave of hate"?
La Raza and other supporters of illegal aliens, have it all wrong! We are against all illegal immigration, we are fed up with people who have broken our laws and then march in our streets demanding WE change OUR laws for them!
This, "in your face and we don't care what you think", attitude has turned millions of Americans against all illegals!
Why aren't you demanding foreign leaders reform? Why aren't you demanding illegals and their supporters to march and protest in their own countries?
It is not up to American tax payers to take the 'hit' and continue to have our hospital ER's to shut down, or our educational systems overloaded because a group of people won't demand change in their own countries!
As a Rep. of the House and a US citizen, you should be working for the good of all Americans, but you are not. You are working for one group at the expense of the rest of us!
This is what we are fed up with, "hate" has nothing to do with it, no one likes lawbreakers getting in one's face and forcing their opinions on the Country's people.
Any Rep. or Senator will awaken to the fact that millions of Americans are only going to vote on issues, no longer will one be loyal to a Party.
Our immigration laws do not need reformed, our government officials need to work for ALL American citizens! And demand foreign leaders take care of their own...when the elite rich in Mexico said last year, they would move out of Mexico because they refuse to pay more taxes to take care of their own people....something is wrong, when they send them here for us to take care of, and our government FORCES US TO DO IT!
How many other foreign leaders and their rich are doing the same?
It is NOT the responsibility of American citizens to "fund the whole world".Do not vote for Party this year, vote for America and American workers!

Be careful people. If you rile La Raza they will spend more of your money beating you back down.
The Federal Government is allowing groups like La Raza access to our money before we are even able to pick up our paychecks and cash them. We are left little to support what we really want it to go for.
It is totally against the principals of the United States of America when you turn a machine like the criminals in the government have against the will of the people.
Here is a partial list of some of the money that has been looted from the American taxpayer. Look down at the end of the article.

A new La Raza funding bill. Another 5 to 10 million for one of their groups! And you've gotta just know other tax money is going to other race groups.

If this isn't BS I don't know what is!! Typical Miami. For Hispanics only.
"Speaking to delegates during lunch yesterday, Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart, Florida Republican and a Cuban immigrant, urged them to help preserve Spanish.
Amazing. Absolutely amazing.
If you want Spanish Lincoln Diaz-Balart.....go 90 miles south back to where you came from and you'll find all the Spanish being spoken you could possibly want!
If we hadn't "catered" to all of these people by putting every form and every newspaper in Spanish to begin with......we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Talk about "taking advantage of the American people", this is a prime example.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
