Trump hits back at Carson after religion jab

Donald Trump threw a passive-aggressive punch back at Ben Carson on Wednesday night after the retired neurosurgeon questioned Trump's religious values.
"Wow, I am ahead of the field with Evangelicals (am so proud of this) and virtually every other group, and Ben Carson just took a swipe at me," Trump tweeted.
Trump’s tweet comes after Carson earlier in the day was asked about the biggest difference between himself and the real estate mogul.
It's his faith, Carson said.
“I’ve realized where my success has come from, and I don’t in any way deny my faith in God,” Carson said at a campaign event in Anaheim, California. “And I think that is the big difference.”
“By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life and that’s a very big part of who I am,” Carson continued. “I don’t get that impression with [Trump]. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t get that.”
Trump, who says he is a Presbyterian, has faced growing questions about his faith. In a recent interview with Bloomberg’s “With All Due Respect,” Trump said that his favorite book is the Bible, but declined to name a specific Bible passage. A church he had named as his parish said he was "not an active member."
Weeks earlier, he told a crowd of religious conservatives in Iowa that he couldn't recall ever asking God for forgiveness, though he said he took Communion.
"When I drink my little wine — which is about the only wine I drink — and have my little cracker, I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness, and I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed," Trump said.
Before he announced his presidential bid, Trump told the Christian Broadcasting network, "I will be the greatest representative of the Christians that they've had in a long time."
Carson's attack on Trump's faith comes a day after he jabbed his billionaire rival for his proposed immigration policies: building a wall along the U.S.’s southern border and deporting millions of undocumented immigrants.
“It sounds really cool, you know, ‘Let’s just round them all up and send them back,’” Carson said at a campaign event in California. “People who say that they have no idea what that would entail in terms of our legal system, the costs —forget about it. Plus, where you gonna send them? It’s a double whammy.”
The exchange of insults comes after a number of recent polls showed Carson gaining on Trump, particularly in Iowa, where religious voters traditionally play a strong role in determining the winner of the GOP contest.
A recent Iowa NBC News/Marist poll found Trump leading the field at 29 percent followed by Carson at 22 percent. Among white evangelical Christians, the poll found Trump leading at 29 percent followed closely by Carson with 27 percent. No other candidate got double digits with that subgroup.

What are these people thinking supporting someone who doesn't want to build a wall or deport illegal aliens?
We know now where Carson is coming from now that we know he's served on the Boards of a number of large corporations like Kelloggs. Remember the research I did several years ago that showed Kelloggs was one of the corporate board members for National Council of La Raza's, El Pueblo organization here in North Carolina? Yes, well, now we know that Carson is part of the reason we have illegal immigration.

Then Carson, speaking with Fox New's Megyn Kelly on Tuesday night, was asked about Trump's comment that, as a former doctor, he had no job-creating experience.
"Well, my response to that is that interestingly enough — and perhaps a lot of people don't know this — I've done lots of things in my life other than medicine. I have decades of experience on corporate boards — Kellogg, Costco, Vaccinogen, started a national nonprofit, have been involved in multitudinous things," Carson said.

NCLR AWARDED $3.6 MILLION GRANT FROM W.K. KELLOGG FOUNDATION
Washington, DC—NCLR (National Council of La Raza), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, announced today that it will receive a $3.6 million grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation as part of the foundation’s America Healing initiative to address the devastating impact of racial inequities and promote racial healing in communities throughout the country. NCLR will use the grant to strengthen its capacity to serve as a resource to the nearly 300 community-based organizations in the NCLR Affiliate Network that work at the state and local levels to provide direct services or advocacy for millions of Latinos in education, health, homeownership, and workforce development, among other areas.Last edited by Judy; 09-10-2015 at 04:58 AM.

Trump, you always lose getting into the religious mud with Christians. I am sorely disappointed that you were sucked into that mire. Now, according to the church you named they deny that you are an active member. Now, are you telling other half-truths, will you slip further on that banana peel and abandon truth?
Trump, the office seeker is probably alright, Trump the politician is sickening! You sound like other republicans we listened to in 2014, unfortunately. We went gaga for them, they were phony as hell.

The Presbyterian Church has different "levels" of membership. Here they are:
Lexington Presbyterian - Becoming a Member
People
Although we are pleased to welcome long-term visitors and incorporate them into the life of the church, most choose at some point to become members. If you are considering joining our church, your first step may be to attend our Explore class, although this is not required for membership. Attending this class does not obligate you in any way.
Additional information on this page is from the Book of Order.

Membership Categories
There are four categories of membership defined by the Presbyterian Church (USA) Book of Order:
Baptized member
A person who has received the Sacrament of Baptism and who has been enrolled as a baptized member by the session but who has not made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Such baptized members are entitled to the pastoral care and instruction of the church, and to participation in the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper.
Active Member
A person who has made a profession of faith in Christ, has been baptized, has been received into membership of the church, has voluntarily submitted to the government of this church, and participates in the church's work and worship. An active member is entitled to all the rights and privileges of the church, including the right to participate in the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper, to present children for baptism, to take part in meetings of the congregation, and to vote and hold office. Other conditions of active membership that meet the needs of the particular church and are consistent with the order and confessions of the Presbyterian Church (USA) may be adopted by the session after careful study and discussion with the congregation.
Inactive Member
One who does not participate in the church's work and worship. An inactive member is entitled to all the rights and privileges of an active member except the right to speak in the meetings of the congregation and to vote and hold office.
Affiliate Member
An active member of another church of this denomination or of another denomination or Christian body, who has temporarily moved from the community where the church of active membership is situated, has presented a certificate of good standing from the appropriate governing body of that church, and has been received by the session as an affiliate member. An affiliate member is entitled to all the rights and privileges of an active member except the right to vote and hold office.

Honesty does matter, his religion or lack of any does not concern me. He claimed to be the best of negotiators, and hasn't reported any concessions from his day with Reince Prius. Now, he has to begin proving that he is he says he is. Is he a negotiator?

Sure honesty matters. It matters when a church misleads a reporter about the status of one of their members.
Is Trump a negotiator? Well, if his goal is to win the Republican nomination by spending as little money as possible, I'd say with 51% of Republicans now believing he will win the nomination based on 71% of Republicans supporting him on his policies, that he's winning. He's just negotiated a pledge that saved him a lot of money, assured his spot on the Republican ballot in all 50 states and snares him the Republican spot on the General Election ballot if he wins the nomination and won't have to spend a dime on signature campaigns to get on the ballots. To me that's huge.
In addition, now all the other "pledgers" have their own integrity on the line to support Trump if he wins the nomination and look at them dance. Bobby Jindal has just forfeited his spot by refusing to say he would support Trump if he wins the nomination.
So, I think Trump negotiated a great deal. If he doesn't get the nomination, it exposes the RNC and the "pledge" as the Politburo Farce it really is. I don't agree with Trump on everything, but I agree with his goals and most of his policies, not all, but most.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan
