Oh, I see. Well, first of all, this isn't new legislation, it's a new executive regulation. It has to be reviewed by all the applicable agencies, there's a lot of them, make sure it's all legal, and then when it's finalized, posted on Federal Register for some period of time, I think at least 30 days, and then some implementation period after the review and comment period on Federal Register. It won't apply to those already here, what it does is prevent issuance of Green Cards to new immigrants who would otherwise have qualified for welfare, and if they come and try to sneak in on the benefits, ensure they're denied or prosecuted for fraud. It's a pretty complicated endeavor so it will take some time to implement properly. But unless there's something I'm missing, I totally support it, long-over due. Trump has been hounding about this public charge issue since the campaign. It's a way to maneuver our system into the merit-based system he supports and probably most Americans do as well. Importing poverty as we've done the past 40 years was really dumb.

How about a regulation stopping ALL IRS TAX REFUNDS to non-citizens, illegal aliens, etc?

No illegal aliens shall collect child care tax credits, IRS refunds or other benefits ON BEHALF of a U.S. citizen, whether that citizen is a minor or otherwise.

Stop rewarding adult illegal aliens! End birthright citizenship, they are having these anchor babies to get around our laws and collect taxpayer benefits.

They get deported WITH their minor children...no avenue to leave them here. The parents are the guardians and custodians, no the American people, not our government!

Trump tried that already and was shot down by the IRS Commission. Would need a change in the law, and the reason is if you charge them income tax, they are entitled to the same laws regarding those income tax payments as any other "taxpayer".

The FairTax would solve this huge problem, because you can exclude illegal aliens from the rebate which is only available to US citizens and legal residents. Illegal aliens pay FairTax on their goods and services just like any tourist would

They should NOT be working here or paying income tax! And they get MORE than they paid in!!!

Until then, this bogus headline needs to be filed under the Click Bait Fake News Trash file and this latest claim that Trump is going to crack down or do something real to stop or hinder illegal immigration can go on the big stack of bull crap we've heard from him so far on immigration issues.

Put it on the stack of claims Trump said he would build a wall, Mexico would pay for it, he would end DACA Amnesty, have DHS repell the first caravan, put the new caravan members in tent detention camps, would have DHS crack down on illegal voters,jailing Hillary, and would end birthright citizenship by executive order.....

because so far Trump promised all those things and all those promises are broken, unfulfilled, bull crap cheap talk with no walk.

The new regulation will cut off benefits to illegal aliens who apply for a green card because they'll be denied the green card under the new regulation. I don't read that website, and click bait is the click business, the amount of false headlines to get readers is widespread and despicable regardless of who does it or what or whom the story is about. There's tons of those on our website here and I have no problem with anyone filing a false headline under fake news trash, provided they don't call the article itself fake news trash if it is true, and from my read the article itself is very accurate. It's been in the works for awhile and something they've been working on since the campaign. It will be nice if and when it's finalized and will not only reduce legal immigration and the motive for a green card, it will also halt any illegal alien changing status to a green card from getting one if their situation appears they'll be signing up for welfare benefits, which is a good thing, if it happens. I hope it does, and I think we should at least be clear that we support the policy even if some don't support Trump.

The unfair tax creates more problems than it fixes. Furthermore, I don't want to do anything to normalize illegal immigration or illegal immigrants! In other words, I don't want them to have the upper hand in arguments where their supporters say they deserve to be here because the help the economy by paying taxes.

"helping the economy" ultimately gets back to whether certain numbers go up. Often has little to do with quality of life.

Having more people--including millions of illegal immigrants---always "helps" the economy.

Trump's heart is in the right place, but he is not practiced in navigating the tricky waters of DC. The ACLU these days seems to have no other objective than finding any flaw, or flat out inventing them, in any policy to stop illegals.

How many bills in Congress have gone into conference and come out radically changed from what people expect? I think Trumps appointments are improving---less of the GOP regulars and more in keeping with his own promises.

Here in Oregon we had an abysmal failure of the normal political process---losing on a popular vote---but that doesn't mean there are no solutions.
