Biased Poll Combat Proceedure ALERT!
Ok friends,
We need your help here.
There are several polls being circulated. One is by AP and the other by Time Magazine... there may be others. These "new" polls that have just emerged like a well timed and coordinated attack are inconsistent with all other polls we have seen on this issue.
We need three things.
1. Help us collect these biased polls here in this thread.
2. We need to analyze these polls and find out all we can about them. Who did the polls? Who was sampled? How was the question worded?
3. We need to locate any and all polls that refute the findings of these polls.
MOST AMERICANS SUPPORT A GUEST WORKER PROGRAM? Bullshit!
The Open Borders Lobby pulled the same trick here in NC during the In-State Tuition Battle. They launched a bogus poll out of Elon University claiming that a majority of North Carolinians supported the measure. The truth was that over 80% opposed.
We can fight this. The question that remains is can we do what was done here in NC on a national level.
I believe we can but we need those of you that are some of our best information trackers and researchers on this task above all others. ALIPAC must analyze and plan a reaction to this deceptive move by the elites backing Open Borders.
We know the truth. We know the public does not support this. We need to frame our counter argument and prepare a counter attack fast. We should hold off on sending the candidates the message to come out against Guest Worker till we diffuse these bogus polls.

Poll: Most Open to Letting Immigrants Stay
By NANCY BENAC, Associated Press Writer
Sun Apr 2, 4:52 PM ET
WASHINGTON - Americans are divided about whether illegal immigrants help or hurt the country, a poll finds. More than one-half of those questioned are open to allowing undocumented workers to obtain some temporary legal status so they can stay in the United States.
At the same time, people doubt that erecting a fence along the U.S.-Mexico border could help to fix such a complex and enduring problem, an AP-Ipsos poll found. Two-thirds do not think it would work.
"You can't go and round up 11 million people and ship them out of the country," said Robert Kelly. The Chicago lawyer is among the 56 percent of Americans who favor offering some kind of legal status. "It just isn't practical," he said.
A smaller but still significant share — 41 percent — opposes offering any kind of legal status, giving voice to a law-and-order mind-set that bristles at the notion of officially recognizing those who did not play by the rules to get here.
"Illegal is criminal," said Louella Kelly, a 65-year-old grandmother from Round Rock, Texas.
She said her 16-year-old granddaughter has had a hard time finding part-time work because of all the jobs taken by those who are illegally in the country. "If we're going to give them amnesty, then why don't we give amnesty to all the people who break out of jail?"
Political analysts see an opening in such poll results for President Bush, who supports a temporary guest-workerJoin our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I work in Market Research and can gaurantee that these polls are inconsistent. I will ask my boss and see if she has heard anything on the grapevine as to what companies are doing them. There are a lot of "cheap" research companies which actually will fake the results in order to meet their quota. Also in many of these polls the interviewer could easily enter different answers.
I can tell you now the fact that the publishers did not announce the names of the research facilities which conducted the studies proves that they believed the results to be flawed or at least done by a company with a bad track record.
I would personally only listen to political studies from Gallup. They are extremely anal about quality and how the questions are asked and recorded.
Alos an attorney (defense I bet) should not be asked questions regarding any legal or political matter. In fact respondents should be screened to prove they do not work in Marketing or Market/Political Research, Politics, Law Enforcement, Judicical or Attorney related companies.
That study sounds to be definately flawed from the get go.

never heard of this company and their "about us" page is full of sales pitches. looks pretty bad already. Ill do some digging tomorrow.
I suggest calling them and asking for them to release the demographic information and also ask how that information was collected (paper or computer) paper studies are down with pencil (so the paper can be reused if the respondent terminates) that would leave this type of study highly vunerable.
Ask specifically what races, genders, income levels and regions were surveyed. Only surveying 1,003 people (an odd number should NEVER be used for research) for the opinions of 300,000,000 is not taking an adequate market sample. They should also be taking sample from lower income, middle class, and upper-middle class-wealthy. Along with a representative sample of the USA meaning an even distribution from each state, race and nationality that is a LEGAL citizen of the USA.
again I would only respect figures from Gallup. I have done work for them and know how high of quality they deliver.
P.S. this study never mentioned and error rate, all market/public studies have a margin of error rate.

AP Poll: Majority Supports Illegal Aliens Gaining Legal Status
Sunday , April 02, 2006
Associated Press
WASHINGTON — A slim majority of Americans are open to allowing undocumented workers to obtain some sort of temporary legal status to remain in the United States, with stronger support for the idea among Democrats, younger adults and more educated Americans, a new poll finds.
Overall, 56 percent of Americans favor offering illegal immigrants a shot at some kind of legal status; roughly two-thirds of those ages 18-34 like the idea and an equal share of those with a college education agree, the AP-Ipsos survey found.
While Democrats were more likely to support temporary worker status, with 62 percent favoring the idea, even among Republicans there was majority support, by a narrower 52 percent, according to the poll.
The AP-Ipsos survey of 1,003 adults was conducted Tuesday through Thursday, as debate swirled in Congress over a proposal that would legalize many illegal immigrants in the United States and expand guest worker programs for an estimated 400,000 immigrants each year.
Two-thirds of Americans think illegal immigrants fill jobs that most Americans don't want, the poll found.
But the survey found greater ambiguity on whether illegal immigrants are good or bad for American society, on balance. Fifty-one percent said illegal immigrants mostly make a contribution to society, and 42 percent said they were mostly a drain.
Likewise, there was deep division on how serious a crime it should be enter the country illegally. Fifty-one percent thought it should be considered a "minor offense" and 47 percent considered it a "serious criminal offense."
Americans were skeptical that erecting a fence along the border with Mexico would reduce the number of illegal immigrants -- two-thirds doubted it would work.
The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

I'm not familiar with Ipsos, but I got the impression that it is an internet based polling organization where people sign up as focus groups for polling. That may not be true in general, or for this poll in particular, but the articles certainly are not informative about how the poll was conducted.

New Poll: Americans Favor a Guest Worker Plan
79% say illegal immigrants should have the chance to work here, but most want tougher enforcement too
By JYOTI THOTTAM
Posted Friday, Mar. 31, 2006
Americans polled by TIME magazine show strong support for a guest-worker program and a process for undocumented workers to become citizens, but they take a tough stance on securing the borders. And most do not want illegal immigrants to have access to health care, public education or driver's licenses.
In the telephone survey of 1004 adults, conducted Wednesday and Thursday, 79% say they favor a guest worker program that would allow illegal immigrants to remain in the U.S. for a fixed period of time — the main provision of the bill proposed by Senators John McCain and Edward Kennedy that is now under fierce debate in Congress. Only 47% of those polled say they support the tougher measure backed by some House conservatives, deporting all illegal immigrants back to their home countries.
Although Americans want to give illegal immigrants the chance to work in the U.S. temporarily and even earn citizenship—78% say illegal immigrants who learn English, have a job and pay taxes ought to have a chance at it—they also want better enforcement both at the border and inside the country. A large majority, 71%, favor major penalties for people who hire illegal immigrants; 62% want the U.S. to take "whatever steps are necessary" to secure the border with Mexico, including posting military forces; and 56% favor a 2,000-mile-long fence. That two-pronged approach to illegal immigration is the same one favored by President Bush, who wants both a guest worker program and tighter border security.
Americans' biggest concerns about illegal immigration appear to be economic: 61% of those polled say they are very concerned about the cost of providing health care and education to illegal immigrants. A substantial majority, 75%, say they should not be allowed to have government services, such as health care or food stamps, and 69% say they shouldn't be able to get a driver's license. A slight majority, 51%, think public schools ought to be off-limits.
While the President's position on illegal immigration is clearly resonating with many voters, it hasn't helped his sagging approval ratings. They sank to 37% in the poll, a new low."We have room for but one flag, the American flag" - Theodore Roosevelt

Are each of these news organizations quoting one particular poll, or are each running their own polls with similiar, absurd, results?
