1 dead, 19 injured in Chicago shootings since Friday evening

Nineteen people were wounded — one fatally — in shootings across the city since Friday evening.

The fatal shooting occurred Saturday morning in the West Side Humboldt Park neighborhood.

Ronnie Amos, 42, was found shot in the 3600 block of West Chicago Avenue at 8:54 a.m., authorities said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:26 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The most recent non-fatal shooting occurred early Sunday in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

A 25-year-old man was shot multiple times in the back about 4:50 a.m. in the 6400 block of South King Drive, police said.

He was in critical condition at the scene. Police said the man is “very uncooperative.”

About 90 minutes earlier, a man was shot in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood.

The 29-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the neck about 3:05 a.m. in the 13200 block of South Langley Avenue, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in “stable” condition.

About 2:30 a.m. Sunday, a man was shot in the North Lawndale neighborhood.

The 37-year-old man was in a parking lot in the 1900 block of South Pulaski Road about 2:30 a.m. when a vehicle pulled up and someone got out and opened fire, police said. He was shot multiple times and was taken in “stable” condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Shortly before 1 a.m., a man was shot and critically injured in the Pilsen neighborhood.

The man, thought to be in his 20s, was shot in the abdomen about 12:55 a.m. in the 1800 block of South Throop Street, police said. He was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

At least 15 other people have been shot across the city since Friday evening. No one has been charged in connection with any of the shootings as area detectives investigate.
