Made a phone call. According to Fullerton officer Laura Markoski, the mini-van passenger, Raymond Alexander Rivera, is being held on identity theft suspicion and possible immigration violations. No word on if the driver is being held on any charges other than those related to the accident.

Angels' Pitcher, 2 Others Killed In O.C. Crash
Minivan Allegedly Runs Red Light In Fullerton, Strikes 2 Cars

FULLERTON (AP) ― Los Angeles Angels' rookie pitcher Nick Adenhart and two other people were killed Thursday when a minivan ran a red light and struck their sports car.

Adenhart, 22, died after undergoing surgery, University of California, Irvine Medical Center spokesman John Murray said.

A fourth person remained hospitalized in critical condition.

The Angels confirmed Adenhart's death in a statement and said no other members of the Angels organization were involved in the accident.

"The Angels family has suffered a tremendous loss today. We are deeply saddened and shocked by this tragic loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Nick's family, friends, loved ones and fans," general manager Tony Reagins said.

The team said Adenhart was survived by his parents, Jim and Janet.

"He lived his dream and was blessed to be part of an organization comprised of such warm, caring, and compassionate people," the family said in a statement issued through the team.

"The Angels were his extended family. Thanks to all of Nick's loyal supporters and fans throughout his career. He will always be in everyone's hearts forever."

Adenhart, of Silver Spring, Md., was the Angels' No. 3 starter. He threw six scoreless innings in Wednesday night's loss to Oakland in his fourth major-league start and first of the season.

Adenhart and three other people were in a silver Mitsubishi that was struck shortly before 12:30 a.m. by a minivan that ran a red light and also hit another vehicle, police said.

The sports car struck a light pole, killing three people inside.

Police Lt. Craig Brower said the minivan driver fled the crash scene and was captured a short time later. The driver was arrested and booked for investigation of felony hit-and-run.

Adenhart, a right-hander, earned a spot in the starting rotation on an injury-plagued Angels staff by impressing manager Mike Scioscia late in spring training.

The pitcher made his major league debut May 1 of last year, also against Oakland. He made two other starts, getting his only decision in a victory over the Chicago White Sox on May 12. He was 37-28 in the minor leagues from 2005-08, including 9-13 last year at Triple-A Salt Lake.

The Minnesota Twins held moment of silence before their game against the Seattle Mariners. Also, there was to be a moment of silence before the start of the Texas Rangers' home game against the Cleveland Indians.

Andrew Thomas Gallo, 22, of Riverside, fled but was arrested a half-hour later for investigation of felony hit-and-run driving. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries from the crash and could face charges including vehicular manslaughter or possibly murder, Hamilton said.

There was no immediate word on his condition.

Gallo had a previous drunken driving conviction and was driving with a suspended license, police said. A 21-year-old passenger in the van was treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

The driver of the minivan in the accident that killed Adenhardt fled the scene and was later arrested, said Fullerton police Lt. Craig Brower. That man was identified as Andrew Thomas Gallo, 22 of San Bernardino.

A preliminary test indicated the driver of the minivan had a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit, police Lt. Kevin Hamilton said at a news conference.

Gallo is expected to face charges of manslaughter, felony driving under the influence and hit-and-run, according to Fullerton police. Gallo remains hospitalized.

A public records search shows that Gallo, 22, lived on Broadmoor Boulevard in San Bernardino as of December 2008 and had previously lived on Harding Street in Riverside as recently as 2005.

Chances are he is legal, since illegals cannot have licenses at all in CA. Unless he got a license using a stolen ID.

It's very possible that the driver IS, in fact, an illegal alien.

"Gallo" (pronounced guy-o) is the Spanish word for rooster and is a fairly common hispanic name.

The fact that his first and middle names are so "American sounding" also means nothing. More and more, the trend amongst illegal aliens using stolen and/or fake identities, is to gravitate toward more American sounding names.

Apparently, they find/feel that it makes them less conspicuous and they fall under less scrutiny because people will likely assume that they are American citizens and be less likely to question it.....especially with the recent hue and cry coming from their advocacy about the "racism" and "discrimination" being perpetrated against American born hispanics and legal citizens just because "they're brown" or have hispanic surnames.

This strategy by the pro-illegal advocacy has been very effective in allowing illegal aliens yet another avenue to avoid detection and/or intimidate those who might question them, with their race-baiting crap.

Can I quote you on that?

Do you think that is reliable information that I can post?

Meanwhile, the Fullerton Police Department has released a booking photo of the suspect, Andrew Gallo, 22, of Riverside, who was accused of the hit-and-run. Gallo allegedly was driving a minivan while under the influence when his vehicle crashed into a Mitsubishi that Adenhart was a passenger.

Man Who Caused Adenhart Crash Had Prior Arrest Record?

Andrew Thomas Gallo, 22, could be charged with second-degree murder for the death of Nick Adenhart and two other passengers. Fullerton police said Gallo was drunk at the time and also had a suspended license.

According to the Inland, Calif. based Press-Enterprise, Gallo was driving the red mini-van that broadsided the silver Mitsubishi carrying Adenhart and three other passengers. The newspaper also dug up information presumably about Gallo's past that, if true, should result in him spending a very, very long time in jail. But what isn't clear is how the man could possibly be the same age now (22) as he was in both 2006 and 2007:

In San Bernardino County, a man with the same name, Andrew Thomas Gallo, and same age, 22 pleaded guilty to a driving under the influence charge in May of 2006, court records show.

He was placed on three years' probation and ordered to attend a county-approved first-offender alcohol program, and pay fines of about $1,400.

The same 22-year-old Andrew Thomas Gallo also plead guilty to possessing less than one ounce of marijuana in 2007 and entered a guilty plea to failure to wear a seat belt in 2006 court records show.

The marijuana charge came during the probationary period for the driving under the influence case. After Gallo's guilty plea he was ordered to continue in the county-approved alcohol program, court records show.

Hmm. So let's hold off on speculation about his priors until we get some clarification on that. Not surprisingly, the Angels did the right thing and have postponed tonight's game, but will hold a team meeting.
