Constitutional Birth Right Citizenship
I understand that Canada changed their birth right citzenship laws. This helped them fight the illegals coming into their country and having a child born and gaining a person in their family with legal citizenship, thus allowing them legal access to whatever that child would need through the government legally. Basically, what we are experiencing here in the U.S.
I hate to see us change the Constitution. But, in the case of natural birth right citizenship given to an illegal alien's child seem wrong.
You know the first crime comitted was entering the country illegally. Why should they then be rewarded with a child who is an american. People who enter our country legally and are awarded U.S. citizenship should then be allowed to have children who are U.S. citizens. Being a citizen should be an honor not an obligation. Libertybell

Correct. Ron Paul wants to amend the constitution in regards to this. NO BIRTHRIGHT citizenship unless your parents are citizens.
But really, will any of this matter if that HORRFYING bill actually becomes law?

Canada learned the hard way about anchor babies so they put an end to it. They have finally got enough guts to kick the illegal(s) as well as their Canadian born children. The illegals try anything they could to get around it but loose. Recently a Chinese woman was given deportation orders and used her baby as an excuse. She claimed that she can't put the child up for adoption as the agencies don't want it and she can't take the baby with her for 2 reasons. The first reason is that she would be an outcast as having an child out of wedlock is severely frowned upon and secondly it is hard to bring a foreign born child into China.

Automatic birthright citizenship must end for any kind of immigration bill to work. There are 400,000 and growing in this country and with a guest workers program that allowes families to enter this country, all they have to do in that period is have an achor baby and they will not be asked to leave and they will use that an an excuse not to. That will cause a never ending cycle of illegal immigrants.
The families of anchor babies can collect all social service benefits as anyother citizen.

I believe this is a case where the Constitution is not being applied properly. Those who are here must be under the jurisdiction of the United States. If they are not here legally then then are not under that jurisdiction and therefore not entitled to automatic birthright.
Section 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment states, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside."

half-American babies
In America everyting is about race, whether we admit to it or not. So hypothetically (the friend of a friend of the brother of someone I know...
):
A white American child has a white American father and a white legal immigrant Christian church-going mother. They break up before the child is born. The paternity-proved father of the child is a dead-beat and hides in order to avoid child support (running it up into the 10's of thousands). The child receives state child support in lieu of its absentee father and would have no other way to get child support if the mother left with it when her visa expires. Leaving the child to the state is almost unthinkable. She is a VERY good mother to this child.
The country the mother will leave to is known for its high crime rate, for example a girl is statistically more likely to get raped before school age than to learn to read. 1 in 4 women in that country has been recently raped. The country is decidedly anti-Christian, anti-woman's rights and anti-white.
What could I tell her are her viable options?

I hate to say it but it is true. I know of people who are Canadian and European who can only get work visas and can't get greencards but the government is looking at allowing illegals which are mostly Hispanic a way to get residency. Cubans make lann and can stay due to the wet foot/dry foot policy meanwhile the former human rights violations are no longer there yet Haitians come in boats and are deported. It is worse in Haiti at this time than in Cuba even though both countries have terrible poverty.

Was the topic not about children of illegals born in America? If this lady chooses to overstay her visa she would become illegal, would she not? And her child would then be the child of an illegal would it not?
