What Geert Wilders represents to the Dutch is complicated. Geert Wilders is Catholic in a country who has suffered more under the Catholics then it has from the Muslims. As much as the Dutch are willing to confront Islam in the Netherlands and Europe, they don't want to give it all up to the Catholics either. And by some odd coincidence, Catholics seem to monopolize leadership in confronting Islam, even while the Catholic church in Europe and the rest of the world is the biggest offender in encouraging and accommodating the floods of the people coming in from other countries. A good part of immigration in Europe is from Catholic countries like Poland and Czechoslovakia into Protestant countries like Great Britain and the Scandinavian countries.
