You're right, looking only at deaths from direct overdoses is a narrow way of examining a drug’s health effects.

aids inflicted people are a huge cost factor in heath insurance, RX needed are $$$$$. Anything to arrest that plague guess is appropriate.

Drive by weed - ?. It is a changing world overall. Am not one for feeding heroin addicts their fix with inject centers, although pioneered in EU, detox them and be done with it. maryjane, falls into another category and it borders on the legalization of liquor. Big money maker. Age purchase limits defined - as is tobacco/liquor.

NO going back once the states' coffers have rec'd abundance of $$$$ thru medical maryjane. Would rather just keep minimal nuisance fines for small quantities - payable or no drivers license renew.

What about the freedom, liberty, and happiness of those that die from someone high on pot killing them in the workplace, on the road or through some other idiot behavior because their decision process was impaired? I temporary high is not worth the misery the drug can cause or the negative costs to our society.

Take a look at the many problems caused by alcohol and prescription drugs. If the drug is legalized, there is no going back because it is an industry controlled by greed.

What about the freedom, liberty and happiness of those killed in the work place by sober people? Just like people on the highway, far more are killed by sober people than drunk people or people on weed.

Ridiculous argument not worthy of a comment. Guess that was 'Judy' getting in the last word.

No, it's just a fact you should think about every time you want to treat someone involved in an accident differently because they smoked a joint last weekend or had a beer with their lunch. Accidents are accidents. Sure, the super drunk person is dangerous and can easily cause an accident, but every day more accidents are caused by cold sober distracted and aggressive drivers than by drunks and pot smokers.
