They will still sell "illegal" pot on the street.

Only now there will be more of it and cheaper than the government will sell it because of the tax and regulations on the legal pot will drive the cost up.

The illegal pot will also be laced with bad stuff on it for a better high.

Just like cigarettes...the government will keep taxing the hell out of it.

The State's think they are going to be making a killing on the pot tax. Then they will tax, tax, tax it.

Well now it's "legal"...can't take that away. They will be busting out of the seams with illegal pot because now more people will grow the stuff without fear.

The pot dispensaries in California are not government operations, they're privately owned businesses that are licensed and regulated by the state and are charged sales taxes on the transactions like all retail businesses.

So what? I watch the local news and they all jump up and down for all the money the the governments will collect from the pot.

Just a fact for Beezer, who thought they were government owned stores like ABC stores. They aren't in California, they're privately owned businesses.

The government is collecting sales taxes like it does on most every other retail business sale and income tax on the profits, same as other businesses. Of course they're jumping up and down, as they should be, it's a great new source of business, jobs and yes ... taxes.

Make no mistake about it, this isn't about sensibilities or liberation. For the state this comes down to greed off the misery of people.

No one is forced to pay taxes on marijuana, only the people who buy it of their own free will pay those taxes. Unlike state and federal income taxes which everyone who works must pay or face prison time.

Sorry...not buying it. Totally against legalization, I don't care who owns the store.

Will be a new "source" of addicts, car accidents, workman's comp, major problem for businesses, loitering, smoking in public, more exposure to children, path to other drugs and more rehab, lazy and unemployed, fights, crime, no motivation, a host of issues.
