(Natural News) Bones are healthy living tissues that are constantly being broken down and replaced. Fortunately, many nutrition and lifestyle habits can help build strong bones and maintain this strength as time passes.
Dr. Megan Rossi, the Gut Health Doctor, suggested in a piece for the Daily Mail that onions can help promote strong bones. According to the registered dietitian and nutritionist, onions fall under the category of prebiotic foods alongside garlic, legumes, artichokes, dates and barley.
Prebiotics feed the beneficial bacteria in the gut, making the environment slightly more acidic. Calcium in food becomes more easily absorbed by the body when exposed to the slightly acidic gut environment.
Aside from serving as the food for good bacteria in the gut, prebiotics such as onions can also help maintain bone health in other ways. When gut bacteria break onions down, they produce short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). These SCFAs, according to animal studies, help regulate bone mass and the production of osteoclasts, or cells that break down bones.
Moreover, Rossi mentioned that onions contain quercetin and kaempferol, two plant compounds that are thought to stimulate osteoblasts, or cells that generate new bones.
To back up claims of onions being good for bone health, she cited a 2009 study published in Menopause. According to the paper, a woman over 50 who consumed onions once or more every day had better bone density than those who consumed onions once a month or less. The study authors suggested that women who ate onions daily could reduce their risk of hip fracture by more than 20 percent compared to those who did not.
Here are other bone-friendly foods to include in the daily diet

Aside from onions, there are other foods that can be included in one’s diet to promote bone health.
Fruits and vegetables are associated with healthy and strong bones. One study published in PLOS One stated that a greater intake of fruits and vegetables is linked to greater bone mineral density and lower osteoporosis (bone fragility due to lack of calcium) risk. According to the researchers, fruits are more associated with bone health as cooking methods for vegetables often sap them of key nutrients the bones need.
Foods rich in vitamin K and vitamin D, specifically vitamins D3 and K2, are also known for promoting healthy bones. A 2017 paper published in the International Journal of Endocrinology explained that the combination of vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 helps the bones absorb calcium easily and prevent its accumulation in the arteries. “Animal and human studies suggest that optimal concentrations of both vitamin D and vitamin K are beneficial for bone and cardiovascular health,” the study authors wrote.
Protein-rich foods not only help in building muscles, they also help in building bones. A 2013 study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition stated that protein from foods eaten daily aid in the prevention of osteoporosis. Dietary protein also enhances the production on insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), which “exerts positive activity on skeletal development and bone formation.”
Foods rich in magnesium also contribute to healthier, stronger bones. A May 2021 study published in BioMetals mentioned that lower amounts of magnesium in the body “are related to the presence of osteoporosis.” Those who have low magnesium intake also possessed a lower bone mineral density and a higher risk for fractures, the study stated. Toxic ingredients in oral care products linked to health issues

(Natural News) Products that are supposed to help maintain healthy teeth and gums, such as toothpaste and mouthwash, can actually cause more harm than good and even increase the risk of developing cancer.
In a Jan. 7 piece, NaturalHealth365 Managing Director Jonathan Landsman elaborated on the risks associated with using these oral care products.
“The pursuit of the ‘perfect smile’ tends to come at great sacrifice to [one’s] health. That’s because many of the oral hygiene products lining store shelves, including the multitude of toothpaste and mouthwash brands, actually contain toxic substances like fluoride and alcohol – which have been linked to an increased risk of cancer and other conditions,” he wrote.
Landsman remarked that fluoride is not a chemical the body needs – but an element whose toxicity “falls somewhere between arsenic and lead.” This, he added, is “a good reason why fluoride toothpaste in the U.S. displays a ‘poison warning’ label.” (Related: Child health warning: Young children are using dangerous amounts of fluoride toothpaste.)
“One of the most common issues linked to fluoride in toothpaste is the crumbling of teeth enamel. This is especially a problem in areas where fluoride is already added to drinking water,” Landsman noted. But according to the Fluoride Action Network (FAN), scientific studies have linked high levels of fluoride to a host of negative health effects. These include thyroid disorders, weakened bones, fractures, arthritis and impairment of the brain’s development and function.
Too much fluoride can also increase the risk of developing chronic skeletal fluorosis. Medical News Today defines skeletal fluorosis as the buildup of excess fluoride in the bones, causing stiffness and pain. In the most severe cases, ligaments can calcify – causing pain and trouble moving.
“The very products marketed as critical to good oral health are actually damaging teeth and gums, as well as causing secondary health problems,” commented Landsman. “Some reactions can even be life-threatening.”
Alcohol in mouthwash increases cancer risk

The NaturalHealth365 managing director also pointed out that the alcohol in mouthwash can increase the risk of developing cancer. He wrote: “While toothpaste products attack your health with toxic fluoride, swirling a swig of mouthwash around in your mouth is posing another risk. The use of mouthwashes that contain alcohol as an ingredient can drastically increase your risk of cancers of the mouth, head and neck.”
Landsman cited the findings of a study conducted by Australian researchers from the University of Melbourne and the University of Queensland School of Dentistry. They looked at the mouthwash-using habits of 3,210 people and compared it to the rates of mouth, head and neck cancers.
The researchers found that all participants in their study who used an alcohol-containing mouthwash at least once daily had a significantly increased risk of cancer. The correlation was independent of other risk factors such as smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages.
Natural health specialist Nadine Artemis pointed out this phenomenon during a speech at the Holistic Oral Health Summit, which Landsman created and organized.
“Even though we’ve got lots of periodontal choices at the drug store like fluoride floss and minty mouthwash, there is more dental decay than any previous century,” she said. According to Artemis, the issue with toxic ingredients in oral care products formed part of a “triple threat” to oral health.
First, she cited the harms of improper root canals and tooth extractions. Second, she pointed to the lack of understanding about dental lymph fluid. Lastly, she called attention to the dangers of harsh chemicals in toothpaste and mouthwash.
“It’s actually a system that promotes tooth decay,” Artemis concluded.

Hundreds of “Tylenol lawsuits” claim that retailers, manufacturers knew taking acetaminophen during pregnancy causes autism, ADHD

(Natural News) Popular retail chains including Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens falsely advertised and promoted products containing acetaminophen (Tylenol) to pregnant woman, knowing all the while that the drug is dangerous for developing babies in the womb – as well as their mothers.
This is the claim of hundreds – and soon to be thousands – of lawsuits filed against both retailers and manufacturers of acetaminophen, a common pain drug linked to attention-deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
According to attorney W. Mark Lanier, the lawsuits represent “some of the most important health litigation pending in the United States right now,” particularly as autism and mental health development issues “touch a huge number of Americans.”
“We believe the science indicates that taking Tylenol can cause many of these problems, period,” Lanier told The Defender. “We think the science backs this up, we think the biology backs it up, and we are eager to prove that in a court.”
(Related: Learn more about why Tylenol is toxic to children.)
Acetaminophen is dangerous for unborn children and their mothers

Lanier says the goal is not to remove Tylenol from the market, but rather to put a proper warning on it so doctors and expectant mothers are able to “make an intelligent decision of what risks they will expose their child to during pregnancy.”
Senior U.S. District Judge Denise Cote has already been appointed by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) to oversee the lawsuits, which are growing in number by the day. All of them are being transferred to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Last month, Judge Cote appointed a special master to preside over all federal claims involving Tylenol, autism, and ADHD.
In addition to the aforementioned retailers, other defendants include Johnson & Johnson (J&J), which is accused of encouraging acetaminophen use during pregnancy.
Besides Tylenol, Alka-Seltzer Plus, DayQuil, Excedrin, Goody’s, Mucinex, NyQuil, Robitussin, and various generic and store-brand equivalents are all included as drugs that contain acetaminophen.
Since the 1950s, acetaminophen and all the products that contain it have been labeled as safe for pregnant women despite a plethora of peer-reviewed studies showing that the drug is dangerous both for unborn children and for pregnant women.
The lawsuits will cover affected children under the age of 15 who were diagnosed with ASD between the ages of 1 and 10, as well as children under the age of 15 who were diagnosed with ADHD between the ages of 8 and 14.
“I think at this point we’re in the hundreds that have been filed,” Lanier said about the current tally of suits. “I think when all is said and done, we’ll be talking about thousands, tens of thousands.”
While the ASD and ADHD lawsuits will proceed separately from one another, their consolidation into MDL means that “coordinated discovery into issues that are common to all claims” will occur.
Judge Cote is also likely to establish a “bellwether” process whereby “a group of representative claims will be prepared for early trial dates, to help the parties gauge how juries are likely to respond to certain evidence and testimony about the link between Tylenol and autism that will be repeated throughout the claims.”
While the outcome of the “bellwether” cases will not directly impact any of the other individual cases, what they could still do is impact the average settlement amount to be awarded for all the others. However, if the “bellwether” cases do not reach a settlement, then Judge Cote could remand them to the U.S. District Courts for trial.

    SAUSAGE, POTATO, AND CABBAGE SOUP

A thick and hearty sausage, potato, and cabbage soup; a healthy recipe that is packed with flavorful ingredients!

Growing up my dad went through a phase where he wanted us kids to eat cabbage in some form every single day. He’d read something about the health benefits of cabbage and I’m certain he thought he could prevent us ever getting sick if we ate it constantly.
How To Make Sausage, Potato, And Cabbage Soup (Video)

    Sausage, Potato, and Cabbage Soup
    video at the page link

So he really did prepare cabbage in just about every way imaginable. We complained a lot at first, but over time we eventually got used to the taste.
The first time we ever ate cabbage willingly was in a soup very similar to this. One packed with veggies, red potatoes, ground beef, and Italian seasonings. His cabbage and red potato soup was a major hit with my family and I have actually been a cabbage fan ever since!
How Do You Make This Sausage, Potato, And Cabbage Soup?

    • Start by prepping all of the veggies you’ll add to this soup. There are quite a bit of veggies that get a coarse chop: celery, carrots, onion, red potatoes, and cabbage. If you want to cut down on prep time find a pre-chopped mirepoix (celery, carrots, and onion) in the produce section of your local grocery store.
    • Next, cook the sausage in a little bit of olive oil. I use turkey sausage to make this soup healthier but it’s okay to use other types to your liking. I slice the sausage in rounds, but chopping it up into smaller pieces is a great option too. Once the sausage is cooked, remove it to a plate lined with paper towel to absorb some of that excess oil.
    • Now it’s time to add in all those veggies you chopped. I use a little bit of oil + butter to saute the veggies in. Start with the onion, carrot, and celery. Once those are cooked down a bit add in some garlic. Lastly it’s time to add the cabbage. It’s going to feel like you’re adding way too much cabbage to the dish, but it cooks down a lot and it really is the base ingredient in the soup. I also add in some tomatoes — we love getting fire-roasted tomatoes from the grocery store because there is so much more flavor. Add in the seasonings, potatoes, the sausage you cooked earlier, and finally the stock.
    • And now it’s hands-off for a bit! While that soup is simmering you can make some easy sides to go along with the soup. Our favorites: this salad and some crusty sourdough bread!

Study: These two simple nutritional supplements trigger spike protein UNFOLDING and may neutralize its harmful properties

    90VIEWS

(Natural News) Is it possible to mitigate the damaging effects of covid “vaccine” spike proteins through simple nutrition? A new study published in the journal Viruses seems to suggest so.
Australian researchers looked at two common nutritional supplements – bromelain and acetylcysteine (BromAc) – that are capable of unfolding the structures that hold spike proteins together, effectively neutralizing them.
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus, also known as SARS-CoV-2, is demarcated by a spike glycoprotein and envelope protein that contains disulfide bridges for stabilization. They bind to the ACE2 receptor in host cells present in the nasal mucosa, triggering infection.
A BromAc treatment, the team found, is capable of “synergistic action against glycoproteins” in that the nutritional duo breaks apart the glycosidic linkages and disulfide bonds, reducing or even eliminating the ability of spike proteins to cause covid infection.
These same spike proteins, just to clarify, are present inside all of the so-called “vaccines” currently available to the public. Some would argue that the only source of these spike proteins is the injections, and that covid itself does not exist since the alleged virus has never been isolated.
“We sought to determine the effect of BromAc on the spike and envelope proteins and its potential to reduce infectivity in host cells,” the paper reads. “Recombinant spike and envelope SARS-CoV-2 proteins were disrupted by BromAc. Spike and envelope protein disulfide bonds were reduced by Acetylcysteine.”

“In in vitro whole virus culture of both wild-type and spike mutants, SARS-CoV-2 demonstrated a concentration-dependent inactivation from BromAc treatment but not from single agents. Clinical testing through nasal administration in patients with early SARS-CoV-2 infection is imminent.”
Is BromAc a natural solution for covid jab spike protein damage?

While treatment with acetylcysteine alone did not show any alteration of spike proteins, a combination of acetylcysteine and bromelain, or BromAc, at 50 and 100
    µ
g/20 mg/mL and 50 and 100µ g/mL, respectively, resulted in significant protein alteration.
“Treatment with Acetylcysteine on the envelope protein did not alter the protein, whereas treatment with Bromelain at 50 and 100µ g/mL and BromAc at 50 and 100µ g/20 mg/mL also resulted in near complete and complete fragmentation, respectively,” the paper further explains.
In other words, combining these two nutrients at the levels depicted in the study led to destabilization and unraveling of covid spike proteins, which is good news for everyone who got jabbed, as well as for those who may have had spike protein “shed” on them from a fully vaccinated person.
Since the tests were conducted in vitro, or in a test tube, more study is needed to determine if the same results can be achieved in actual human subjects. Still, the results are “encouraging,” the researchers say, pointing to a natural solution for covid spike proteins that otherwise outsmart most other potential remedies.
“There is currently no suitable therapeutic treatment for early SARS-CoV-2 aimed at preventing disease progression,” the authors note. “BromAc is under clinical development by the authors for mucinous cancers due to its ability to alter complex glycoprotein structures. The potential of BromAc on SARS-CoV-2 spike and envelope proteins stabilized by disul?de bonds was examined and found to induce the unfolding of recombinant spike and envelope proteins by reducing disul?de stabilizer bridges.”
“BromAc also showed an inhibitory effect on wild-type and spike mutant SARS-CoV-2 by inactivation of its replication capacity in vitro. Hence, BromAc may be an effective therapeutic agent for early SARS-CoV-2 infection, despite mutations, and even have potential as a prophylactic in people at high risk of infection.”

Beetroot juice found to “significantly increase muscle force during exercise”

    4,280VIEWS

(Natural News) New research published in the journal Acta Physiologica has identified beetroot juice as a powerful workout-boosting food that “significantly increases muscle force during exercise.”
Researchers from the United States and the United Kingdom teamed up to test the effects of beetroot juice on a group of healthy men in their early 20s. The men were given 4.7 ounces of the nitrate-rich beverage before working out and examined for muscle improvement.
In the three days prior to the experiment, the men were told to consume a low-nitrate diet, including by avoiding the consumption of leafy green vegetables. There was also a placebo group given a dummy powder that looked and tasted like the beetroot juice cocktail, but that was devoid of nitrates.
Neither group knew which beverage they consumed before they completed a single exercise three hours after a warmup. All of the men were told to contract their quadricep muscle – the large one at the front of the upper leg – 60 times while their dominant leg was attached to the lever of a machine.
The goal was to have the men contract this muscle without actually moving their leg. While this was happening, researchers used electrical pulses to measure muscle force, or the force applied by the muscles as they contracted.
Muscle biopsies were collected from the participants’ active legs after they consumed the drink, as well as before and after the exercise to check nitrate levels in their tissue.
In the end, the beetroot juice group showed seven percent greater muscle force than the placebo group, demonstrating the power of beetroot juice and the nitrates it contains to maximize muscle force.
“This study provides the first direct evidence that muscle nitrate levels are important for exercise performance, presumably by acting as a source of nitric oxide,” said Dr. Barbara Piknova, a staff scientist at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases in the US.
“These results have significant implications not only for the exercise field, but possibly for other medical areas such as those targeting neuromuscular and metabolic diseases related to nitric oxide deficiency.”
Naturally occurring nitrates are important for muscle development, cellular energy function

Nitrates play an important role in musculature, helping them to respire, or release energy. They also power the mitochondria, or the energy factories in cells, helping to boost energy availability for contractions.
“Our research has already provided a large body of evidence on the performance-enhancing properties of dietary nitrate, commonly found in beetroot juice,” added Dr. Andy Jones, a physiologist at the University of Exeter in the UK.
“Excitingly, this latest study provides the best evidence to date on the mechanisms behind why dietary nitrate improves human muscle performance.”
Other foods besides beetroot that contain high levels of nitrates include spinach, Bok choy, lettuce, carrots, ham, and bacon.
“Be careful as beets are very high in oxalate – especially if you have any existing health issues,” noted one commenter, emphasizing that people need to take caution here.
“The tests were actually conducted using a synthetic drink, not actually beetroot juice – but the findings are still relevant,” noted another.
“I’m sipping on a beet smoothie right now!” wrote someone else. “It is one beet, juice from one lemon, one cup of strawberries, one avocado, and a tiny bit of ginger. I can barely taste the beets!”
Another wrote that beetroot also contains a hemoglobin-mimicking compound that helps further transport oxygen in the blood as well, enhancing its delivery throughout the body and into cells.

    1,800VIEWS

(Natural News) Digestive issues like bloating and cramping are common, but if you have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), your symptoms are more severe. IBD symptoms can even be life-threatening.
There is no mainstream cure for IBD, and treatment options range from pharmaceuticals like steroids and immunosuppressants. Following specialized diets and taking herbal nutraceuticals can help if you have IBD.
According to data presented at a Crohn’s & Colitis conference, curcumin, the active anti-inflammatory compound in turmeric, also offer benefits for people with IBD.
New developments in IBD treatment options

The latest study findings presented at the 2023 Crohn’s & Colitis Congress included these three new developments in treatment options for IBD:
Treating Crohn’s disease in oxygen chambers
A meta-review of the use of hyperbaric oxygen revealed that this therapy was effective at reducing inflammation. Data showed that the treatment helped improve symptoms among study participants.
Predicting IBD flares with an Apple Watch
Experts found that the nervous symptom markers measurable on wearable devices like the Apple Watch can help predict IBD flares. The ability to predict these flares can help patients start their treatments earlier, which makes them more effective. (Related: Study: Ultra-processed foods linked to increased risk of developing inflammatory bowel disease.)
    Plant-based therapy against ulcerative colitis
A combination treatment of two herbal compounds, curcumin and Qing Dai, an herbal formula popular in Chinese medicine, was found to be “significantly more effective at reducing symptoms” compared to a placebo in people with active ulcerative colitis.
Alternative, herbal and plant therapies have been taken seriously and studied for more than a decade as treatment options for those living with IBD. These new findings can also be used to bolster modern medicine’s approach to disease in general.
Studies, like those presented at the 2023 Crohn’s & Colitis Congress, also highlight how beneficial additional options and complementary therapies can be.
    Health benefits of curcumin

Even if you don’t have inflammatory bowel disease, using herbal compounds like curcumin offers some health benefits.
Consuming curcumin from turmeric can also provide joint comfort and support the immune system. The compound can also help boost your digestive health.
Note that turmeric has low bioavailability, which means using the spice while cooking may fall short if you want to enjoy its therapeutic benefits.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is the term for two conditions, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, that are characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Prolonged inflammation causes damage to the GI tract.
Here are the common symptoms of IBD:

    • Abdominal pain
    • Fatigue
    • Persistent diarrhea
    • Rectal bleeding or bloody stools
    • Weight loss

The exact cause of IBD is unknown, but the condition is often the result of a weakened immune system. One possible cause of IBD is when your immune system responds incorrectly to environmental triggers like a virus or bacteria, which will then lead to the inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. IBD might also have a genetic component. If you have a family history of IBD, you are more likely to develop the condition.
    IBD is diagnosed by:

    • A combination of endoscopy for Crohn’s disease or colonoscopy for ulcerative colitis, along with imaging studies like contrast radiography, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
    • Blood tests
    • Stool sample

Tips for incorporating turmeric and curcumin into a balanced diet

While it remains to be seen what the optimal dose of curcumin is, consuming turmeric through your regular diet may still offer some benefit. According to data, combining turmeric with black pepper can significantly enhance absorption.
Piperine, black pepper’s signature compound, helps boost the absorption of turmeric by an impressive 2,000 percent.
Add more turmeric to your diet and use it in foods like:

    • Curries
    • Oatmeal or cream of wheat
    • Rice
    • Roasted vegetables
    • Scrambled eggs and frittatas
    • Smoothies
    • Soups
    • Tomato sauce

    Nutrition tips for IBD

No specific diet has been shown to prevent or treat inflammatory bowel disease, but some diet strategies can help you manage IBD symptoms.
To identify problem foods, keep a detailed record of what you eat. Take note of when symptoms worsen to help you identify patterns that indicate which are your problem foods.
There are different approaches to diet during flares and in the absence of flares. Regardless of your health issues, it’s best not to overly restrict your diet.
Focus on avoiding problems foods and eating nutritious foods.
Diet recommendations for ulcerative colitis flare

Avoid foods that may increase stool output like fresh fruits and vegetables, prunes and caffeinated beverages. Decrease your alcohol consumption or avoid it completely.
Limit or avoid concentrated sweets in your diet like candy, juices and soda. This will help decrease the amounts of water pulled into your intestine, which may cause watery stools.
Incorporate more omega-3 fatty acids in your diet. Omega-3s have an anti-inflammatory effect and you can get them from fatty fish like herring, mackerel, salmon and sardines.
Some patients reported that smaller, more frequent meals are better tolerated. Improving your eating habits can also help increase the amount of nutrition you receive every day.
If you have a poor appetite and trouble tolerating solid foods, consider taking nutritional supplements.
Diet recommendations for Crohn’s disease flare

If you have strictures, avoid beans, kernels, nuts and seeds. You should also avoid foods that may increase stool output like fruits and vegetables, prunes and caffeinated beverages.
Eating cold foods may help reduce diarrhea.
If you are lactose intolerant, follow a lactose-free diet. Lactose intolerance causes symptoms like bloating, cramping, gas and diarrhea 30 to 90 minutes after eating milk, ice cream or large amounts of dairy. Take a breath hydrogen test if you think you have lactose intolerance.
If your stools are oily and foul-smelling, fat malabsorption could be the culprit. Treat fat malabsorption by following a low-fat diet. Discuss your symptoms with your doctor or a nutritionist.
Take smaller, more frequent meals because they are better tolerated and can help maximize your nutritional intake.
If your appetite is decreased and you have trouble keeping solid foods down, you might benefit from taking nutritional supplements.
Follow a balanced diet, avoid problem foods and incorporate turmeric into your diet to boost your digestive health and overall well-being.
