25 Critical Facts About This Ebola Outbreak That Every American Needs To Know

Posted on August 4, 2014 by Michael Snyder

What would a global pandemic look like for a disease that has no cure and that kills more than half of the people that it infects? Let’s hope that we don’t get to find out, but what we do know is that more than 100 health workers that were on the front lines of fighting this disease have ended up getting it themselves. The top health officials in the entire world are sounding the alarm and the phrase “out of control” is constantly being thrown around by professionals with decades of experience. So should average Americans be concerned about Ebola? If so, how bad could an Ebola outbreak in the U.S. potentially become? The following are 25 critical facts about this Ebola outbreak that every American needs to know…
#1 As the chart below demonstrates, the spread of Ebola is starting to become exponential…

#2 This is already the worst Ebola outbreak in recorded history by far.
#3 The head of the World Health Organization says that this outbreak “is moving faster than our efforts to control it“.
#4 The head of Doctors Without Borders says that this outbreak is “out of control“.
#5 So far, more than 100 health workers that were on the front lines fighting the virus have ended up contracting Ebola themselves. This is happening despite the fact that they go to extraordinary lengths to keep from getting the disease.
#6 There is no cure for Ebola.
#7 The death rate for this current Ebola outbreak is over 50 percent, and experts say that it can kill “up to 90% of those infected“.
#8 The incubation rate for Ebola ranges from two days to 21 days. Therefore, someone can be carrying it around for up to three weeks without even knowing it.
#9 For the first time ever, human Ebola patients are being brought to the United States. And as Paul Craig Roberts so aptly put it the other day, all it would take is “one cough, one sneeze, one drop of saliva, and the virus is loose“.
#10 This has already potentially happened in the United Kingdom. A woman reportedly collapsed and later died on Saturday after she got off of a flight from Sierra Leone at Gatwick Airport.
#11 A study conducted in 2012 proved that Ebola could be transmitted between pigs and monkeys that were in separate cages and that never made physical contact.
#12 This is a new strain of Ebola, so what we know about other strains of Ebola may not necessarily apply to this strain of Ebola.
#13 Barack Obama has just signed an executive order that gives the federal government the power to apprehend and detain Americans that show symptoms of “diseases that are associated with fever and signs and symptoms of pneumonia or other respiratory illness, are capable of being transmitted from person to person, and that either are causing, or have the potential to cause, a pandemic, or, upon infection, are highly likely to cause mortality or serious morbidity if not properly controlled.”
#14 And as I noted the other day, federal law already permits “the apprehension and examination of any individual reasonably believed to be infected with a communicable disease”.
#15 According to the CDC, there are 20 quarantine centers around the country that are prepared to potentially receive Ebola patients…

#16 The CDC has set up an Ebola “quarantine station” at LAX in order to help prevent the spread of the virus.
#17 The largest health emergency drill in New York City history was conducted on Friday.
#18 The federal government will begin testing an “experimental Ebola vaccine” on humans in September.
#19 We are being told that the reason why we don’t have an Ebola vaccine already is due to the hesitation of the pharmaceutical industry to invest in a disease that has “only affected people in Africa“.
#20 Researchers from Tulane University have been active for several years in the very same areas where this Ebola outbreak began. One of the stated purposes of this research was to study “the future use of fever-viruses as bioweapons“.
#21 According to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in Sierra Leone, researchers from Tulane University have been asked “to stop Ebola testing during the current Ebola outbreak“. What in the world does that mean?
#22 The Navy Times says that the U.S. military has been interested in studying Ebola “as a potential biological weapon” since the 1970s…
Filoviruses like Ebola have been of interest to the Pentagon since the late 1970s, mainly because Ebola and its fellow viruses have high mortality rates — in the current outbreak, roughly 60 percent to 72 percent of those who have contracted the disease have died — and its stable nature in aerosol make it attractive as a potential biological weapon.
#23 The CDC actually owns a patent on one particular strain of the Ebola virus…
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control owns a patent on a particular strain of Ebola known as “EboBun.” It’s patent No. CA2741523A1 and it was awarded in 2010. You can view it here.
It is being reported that this is not the same strain that is currently being transmitted in Africa, but it is interesting to note nonetheless. And why would the CDC want “ownership” of a strain of the Ebola virus in the first place?
#24 The CDC has just put up a brand new webpage entitled “Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations for Hospitalized Patients with Known or Suspected Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever in U.S. Hospitals“.
#25 The World Health Organization has launched a 100 million dollar response plan to fight this Ebola outbreak. Others don’t seem so alarmed. For example, Barack Obama is getting ready to take a “16 day Martha’s Vineyard vacation“.
Many are attempting to play down the threat from this virus by stating that unless you “exchange bodily fluids” with someone that you don’t have anything to worry about.
If that was truly the case, then how in the world have more than 100 health workers contracted the virus so far?
Health professionals that deal with Ebola take extreme precautions to keep from being exposed to the disease.
But despite those extreme measures, they are catching it too.
So if this virus does start spreading all over the globe, what chance is the general population going to have?
Feel free to disagree with me if you like, but I believe that this could potentially be an absolutely catastrophic health crisis.
Hopefully I am wrong. Please share what you think by posting a comment below…

CDC Getting Dozens Of Calls ‘About People Who Are Ill After Traveling In Africa’

By Michael Snyder, on August 5th, 2014

Should we be alarmed that the CDC has received "several dozen calls" from hospitals around the country "about people who are ill after traveling in Africa"? As you will read about below, a lot more Ebola testing has been going on around the nation than we have been hearing about in the mainstream media. I can understand the need to keep people calm, but don't we have a right to know what is really going on? And the media has also been very quiet about the fact that Ebola is now potentially spreading to even more countries. As you will read about below, a Liberian man just died from Ebola in Morocco, and a man that traveled to Saudi Arabia from Sierra Leone on Sunday night is being tested for Ebola after exhibiting "symptoms of the viral hemorrhagic fever". Top officials in the U.S. keep assuring us that everything is going to be just fine, but the truth is that this is a crisis that is beginning to spiral out of control. On Tuesday, the CDC told Time Magazine that it had received dozens of calls from all over the United States about people that had gotten sick after traveling to Africa...
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told TIME on Tuesday that it’s received several dozen calls from states and hospitals about people who are ill after traveling in Africa. “We’ve triaged those calls and about half-dozen or so resulted in specimen coming to CDC for testing and all have been negative for Ebola,” CDC spokesman Tom Skinner said, adding that the agency is expecting still more calls to come in.
Let's certainly hope that there is nothing to be concerned about in any of those calls. As I pointed out yesterday, the consequences of having a major Ebola outbreak in the United States could potentially be absolutely catastrophic. Meanwhile, there is a case in Saudi Arabia that has health officials over there extremely concerned. A man that traveled to the country on Sunday night is being tested for the virus after showing symptoms of "viral hemorrhagic fever"...
Saudi Arabia said Tuesday it is testing a man for the Ebola virus after he showed symptoms of the viral hemorrhagic fever following a recent trip to Sierra Leone. The Health Ministry said the symptoms appeared in the 40-year-old Saudi man at a hospital in the western city of Jiddah. He is in critical condition and being treated in a unit with advanced isolation and infection-control capabilities. Different types of viral hemorrhagic fevers have been found in the kingdom, but no case of Ebola has ever been detected there, according to the ministry.
In addition, it is being reported by international media sources that a Liberian has died of the Ebola virus in Morocco. If that is true, that is extremely troubling. That would mean that we now have confirmed Ebola cases in five different countries. And remember, the Ebola virus can have an incubation period of up to three weeks, and Ebola victims can "look quite fit and healthy and can be walking around until shortly before their deaths". Because of this, hospitals across America are being extremely cautions right now. The following is from a recent NPR report...
If you show up at a hospital emergency department with a high fever and you just happen to have been traveling in Africa, don't be surprised if you get a lot of attention. Hospitals are on the lookout for people with symptoms such as a high fever, vomiting and diarrhea who had been traveling in parts of West Africa affected by Ebola, following instructions from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
And there have been some high profile cases that have gotten a lot of attention in recent days. The woman that was being tested for Ebola in Ohio got a lot of media attention, but it turns out that she does not have the disease. We are still waiting to hear about the man that was admitted to Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Officials say that he "probably does not have Ebola", but the test results have not been released yet. In addition, Paul Joseph Watson has pointed out that CNN's Sanjay Gupta has publicly revealed that there have actually been "about half a dozen patients" that have been tested for the virus in recent days...
During a segment concerning the admission of a potential Ebola victim at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta revealed that there have been at least six cases at the hospital which prompted doctors to test for Ebola but that the details were not divulged publicly. “There have been about a half a dozen patients who have had their blood tested because of concern, those particular patients their stories were not made public,” said Gupta, adding, “I’m not sure if that’s because of heightened concern by the hospital or what that means exactly.”
What else is going on around the nation that we have not heard about? Like I keep saying, let us hope and pray that Ebola does not start spreading here, because it can rapidly become a nightmare. Over in Africa, nearly 900 people have already died, but one doctor told CBS News that the true number is actually significantly higher because "many cases are going unreported"...
Already, the World Health Organization says 887 people have died, but a top doctor working at the heart of the outbreak in West Africa says many cases are going unreported. The senior doctor, who works for a leading medical organization in Liberia, explained to CBS News’ Debora Patta that what has helped set this outbreak apart from previous ones is the virus’ spread in urban areas. One of the epicenters of the disease is the Liberian capital of Monrovia, home to about a million people, or almost a quarter of the country’s population. The doctor, who spoke to CBS News on condition of confidentiality, said the disease is spinning out of control in Africa partly because it is extremely difficult to contain it in a sprawling, congested city center.
And it certainly does not help that infected bodies are being dumped into the streets over in Liberia. If that continues to happen, this epidemic could very rapidly turn into a raging inferno over there. There have been health scares in the past, but this one is very different. If you get Ebola, you are probably going to die. And right now the number of Ebola cases is growing at an exponential rate. If this outbreak is not brought under control soon, we could be facing the worst health crisis that we have seen in any of our lifetimes.

Ebola outbreak moving faster than we can control: WHO declares international emergency http://b4in.org/h6x8

As reported earlier, 2014 has seen the worst Ebola outbursts in history. Recent escalations of the outbreaks and spread to other countries like Nigeria has finally prompted the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare the Ebola situation a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).

The report is meant to raise more awareness to the deadly threats the virus pose to international security and prompt rich countries to take action before its too late.

    Ebola outbreak: an international emergency

Although we’re dealing with the worst Ebola epidemic in history, with several outbreaks affecting central African nations like Liberia, Nigeria or Guinea, it’s amazing that only two organizations are actively involved in containing the virus on ground.

One is Samaritan’s Purse, and the other is Doctors Without Borders. Both organizations, despite their best efforts, have their resources strained to the limit and can only do so much.

This has prompted WHO to declare the state of emergency, only for the third time since the new International Health Regulations (IHR), a global agreement on the control of diseases, were adopted in 2005. \

The previous two instances were in 2009, for the H1N1 influenza pandemic, and in May for the resurgence of polio.

“Ebola is Not an Airborne Disease.” Don’t Believe the Narrative

    Dean Garrison August 2, 2014

With two infected health care workers heading to to United States and the CDC recently announcing the establishment of 20 Ebola Quarantine stations, it is time for America to start looking at the facts. President Obama took the time to sign an executive order before leaving for vacation and it seems that the government is preparing for the possibility that there could be an Ebola outbreak in America.

In light of that, I think it is time to look at some facts that are not generally reported.
Though it is true that Ebola is not traditionally considered a classic airborne disease, there are reasons to doubt that narrative. Today, I want to share some scientific research that is not likely to be found in the mainstream media. The intent is not to raise a level of panic, but rather to prepare you for the possibility of Ebola starting to spread throughout America. You simply can not trust the narrative that Ebola is only transmissible through close contact and exchange of bodily fluids.
In 2012, there was a study involving pigs and macaques. The animals were contained in separate cages. Physical contact was impossible. They were however in close proximity and the pigs managed to infect the monkeys with Ebola. How could that be?
    From Nature.com:
The exact route of infection of the NHPs is impossible to discern with certitude because they were euthanized at a time when EB
OV had already spread systemically. However, the segmental attenuation and loss of bronchiolar epithelium and the presence of Ebola virus antigen in some of the respiratory epithelial cells in the lungs of all macaques suggest that the airways were one of the routes involved in the acquisition of infection, consistent with previous reports9, 10. Other routes of inoculation generally did not lead to lesions in the respiratory tract comparable to those observed in this study12, 13.

Under conditions of the current study, transmission of ZEBOV could have occurred either by inhalation (of aerosol or larger droplets), and/or droplet inoculation of eyes and mucosal surfaces and/or by fomites due to droplets generated during the cleaning of the room. Infection of all four macaques in an environment, preventing direct contact between the two species and between the macaques themselves, supports the concept of airborne transmission.

It is of interest, that the first macaques to become infected were housed incages located directly within the main airflow to the air exhaust system. The experimental setting of the present study could not quantify the relative contribution of aerosol, small and large droplets in the air, and droplets landing inside the NHP cages (fomites) to EBOV transmission between pigs and macaques. These parameters will need to be investigated using an experimental approach specifically designed to address this question.

It is important to note here that ZEBOV is an acronym for the "Zaire" strain of the Ebola virus which is what most claim we are facing now. Shortly after the 2012 study concluded, Dr. Gary Kobinger was interviewed by the BBC. Here is part of that interview:
One of the scientists involved is Dr Gary Kobinger from the National Microbiology Laboratory at the Public Health Agency of Canada. He told BBC News this was the most likely route of the infection.

"What we suspect is happening is large droplets – they can stay in the air, but not long, they don't go far," he explained.

"But they can be absorbed in the airway and this is how the infection starts, and this is what we think, because we saw a lot of evidence in the lungs of the non-human primates that the virus got in that way."

The scientists say that their findings could explain why some pig farmers in the Philippines had antibodies in their system for the presence of a different version of the infection called Ebola Reston. The farmers had not been involved in slaughtering the pigs and had no known contact with contaminated tissues.
Reston is a mutation of Ebola that was discovered in Reston, Virginia in 1990. It is generally regarded as a strain of the virus that is not dangerous to humans. However, it is proof of the possibility of mutation.
It would seem to reason that if a strain of Ebola that is benign to humans can develop, then a malignant strain could mutate and develop as well.
So is the Zaire strain of the Ebola Virus only transmissible through close contact and the exchange of bodily fluids? A Canadian research team seems to have disproved that in 2012. Like anything else in science, the research is evolving and rarely set in stone. But the virus may be evolving as well.
I simply would not bet my life on the current claims of the media and medical community.
    Would you?

White House: US won't turn back flights over Ebola virus fears

    Getty Images
By Elise Viebeck - 08/04/14 01:43 PM EDT
The United States will not turn back flights from West Africa over concerns about the Ebola virus, the White House said Monday.
"There are in place a lot of precautions to ensure the safety of the American public and the traveling public," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Monday at a press briefing.
Asked if the administration would block flights from the affected countries, he said, "No, not at this point."
The comments follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) allowing airlines to deny boarding to passengers who are exhibiting Ebola symptoms.
The CDC has also stepped up training for Customs and Border Patrol personnel in order to identify people who should be quarantined for the illness.
Earnest noted that people leaving the affected countries must undergo screening before departure and then again upon arrival in the United States.
"We are in a position to ensure the public health is protected," he said.
The Obama administration is under pressure to describe its response to Ebola, which has killed nearly 900 people in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone since March.
Experts have described the outbreak as the worst on record and say it is still growing despite efforts to contain the virus.
Although two Americans have contracted the disease in West Africa, there is no evidence that Ebola is active and unidentified on U.S. soil, according to the CDC.
"The CDC has assessed that there is no significant risk to the United States from the current Ebola outbreak," Earnest said.

Ebola vaccine pioneer joked about use of genetically engineered virus to cull human population

    Wednesday, August 06, 2014
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
Tags: Ebola vaccine, genetically engineered virus, depopulation

NaturalNews) Truth Stream Media (with Aaron Dykes and Melissa Melton) carried a bombshell story a few weeks ago that suddenly makes even more sense with recent Ebola revelations. The story is entitled
Edible Vaccine Inventor Jokes about Culling Population with GMO Virus and it carries a video, shown below, of Dr. Charles Arntzen, head of The Biodesign Institute for Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology (1), answering a question about how to kill off billions of humans in a depopulation scheme.

From the audience, Dr. Jason Robert asks him:

Should there be 8 billion people in this world? Is there a limit on the number of people our planet can sustain? How do we go about this lightly? ...And should we concern ourselves with feeding 8 billion people in the first place or should we natural forces of carrying capacity to effect or limit population growth?

In response, Dr. Arntzen, developer of an Ebola vaccine tested on mice, says:

Has anybody seen "Contagion?" (laughter) That's the answer! Go out and use genetic engineering to create a better virus. (laughter) Twenty-five percent of the population is supposed to go in "Contagion."

(Watch him saying this on video, below.)

The mass murder of nearly 2 billion people with a GMO virus is no laughing matter

Only in the realm of infectious disease bioweapons and tainted vaccines does someone openly laugh and joke about murdering nearly 2 billion people with a genetically engineered virus. This is much more than a joke, by the way: globalist leaders frequently talk about using vaccines to reduce human population. This is part of their plan for, in their minds, "saving the planet."

Bill Gates famously stated, during a public presentation, that vaccines could help lower the human population by 10 to 15 percent. His exact words:

"The world today has 6.8 billion people... that's headed up to about 9 billion. Now if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by perhaps 10 or 15 percent."

Don't believe that he said this? The video has been pulled from Youtube numerous times, but we've preserved it at TV.naturalnews.com. Click this link to watch it for yourself. The video leaves no question whatsoever about Gates' advocacy of vaccines to reduce human population.

Dr. Arntzen goes even further, stating that genetic engineering scientists should "create a better virus" that would kill billions of human beings and cause widespread suffering and death.

This is how these people think, and keep in mind this is just one of many such people developing Ebola vaccines which look increasingly likely to be forced upon the American people if this current outbreak worsens.

Ebola vaccine being fast-tracked as Obama signs executive order for quarantine

What we are really witnessing right now with the Ebola outbreak is a push to fast-track Ebola vaccines in the USA in preparation for a mandatory vaccination campaign combined with a "gunpoint quarantine" operation backed up by a new executive order just signed by Obama. (2)

That executive order says the federal government can forcibly detain and quarantine any individual who merely shows "symptoms" of a respiratory illness. Such symptoms include coughing, by the way. Under this new executive order, if you merely cough in public, you can be taken away and placed in a FEMA quarantine facility where you will most certainly be infected by the sick people they throw you in with.

Watch the Truth Stream Media video here for more details and commentary from Aaron Dykes:

CDC shifts Ebola attention to travellers

    Kevin Rowson, WXIA 11:37 p.m. EDT August 5, 2014
    CDC

ATLANTA -- Now that Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol are in isolation at Emory University Hospital, the CDC's attention has turned to a more pressing problem from Ebola.

They are concerned about people travelling to the United States from West African countries.

The CDC is alerting health departments and hospitals across the country to be hyper-vigilant watching for potential exposure to Ebola in any person who has traveled from Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nigeria in the past 21 days.

The CDC is the only lab testing for the Ebola virus. Two blood tests are used to confirm an Ebola diagnosis. The Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) are usually used in tandem because neither one alone is a perfect test.

Blood tests in suspected patients are first sent to the local health department and then to the CDC. Tom Skinner, a CDC spokesperson, said blood samples are packaged according to biomedical standards and shipped by traditional carriers, like UPS and FedEx.

In Columbus, Ohio, a 46 year old woman was isolated at an undisclosed hospital while she waited for test results. She had recently traveled to West Africa.

And in New York City, doctors at Mount Sinai Hospital isolated a man who visited West Africa last month and suddenly got sick when he came home.

The Columbus woman's test came back negative. Doctors in New York said it is unlikely the patient at Mount Sinai has Ebola. His blood sample is expected to arrive at the CDC on Wednesday.

Skinner said the tests usually take about one day for results. He said once the tests are complete the samples are incinerated.

An infectious disease specialist says it is the unknown, not the known that we should be more concerned about. Dr. Rob Dretler said Dr. Brantly and Nancy Writebol pose no threat to the general public. "And we know what to do and can completely isolate them but someone coming home who doesn't know they are sick and is here a few days and gets sick, that's the risk," he said.

Skinner said the CDC has already received dozens of inquiries from hospitals and health departments. After screening those cases, Skinner said about a half-dozen blood samples have been sent to the CDC. All of them came back negative.
