Owner of NYC bar that booted man in MAGA hat getting death threats
Owner of NYC bar that booted man in MAGA hat getting death threats

The owner of the West Village bar that botted a Trump supporter wearing a “Make America Great Again” cap says he’s received nearly two dozen death threats since the incident.
“We’ve been trolled on social media pretty intensely,” said The Happiest Hour proprietor Jon Neidich, adding that he is “surprised by the amount of hate that seems to be harbored” against him.
Neidich told The Post that the threats started pouring in after Philadelphia accountant Greg Piatek, 31, was ousted from the watering hole in January 2017 while wearing his Trump campaign cap. Piatek sued the bar in Manhattan Supreme Court, claiming a Happiest Hour manager tossed him because of his hat, discriminating against him because of his political beliefs.
A judge tossed the case because political beliefs are not protected under city and state law.
Piatek said in his court suit that a manager told him, “Anyone who supports Trump — or believes in what you believe — is not welcome here! And you need to leave right now because we won’t serve you!”
But Neidich said his staff gave Piatek the heave-ho because he was being “drunk and belligerent” and cat-calling a female bartender after three hours of boozing with pals.
Asked repeatedly if he welcomes Trump supporters to his West 10th St. bar, Neidich, who voted for Hillary Clinton, would only say, “Do we welcome them? We don’t discriminate.”
Neidich said Piatek’s lawyer, Paul Liggieri, got Piatek to make the claim as a “publicity stunt.” Liggieri did not return requests for comment.

If it's true the guy wore the hat for 3 hours prior to getting booted, I'm going to believe the bar owner. It's not hard to believe a customer got rowdy after drinking with friends over a period of 3 hours. Back in my younger years, I'd been known to do the same thing on occasion, especially in a bar where wearing a ball cap was considered appropriate.
