    about Ron Paul

Congressman Ron Paul of Texas enjoys a national reputation as the premier advocate for liberty in politics today. Dr. Paul is the leading spokesman in Washington for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies based on commodity-backed currency. He is known among both his colleagues in Congress and his constituents for his consistent voting record in the House of Representatives: Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. In the words of former Treasury Secretary William Simon, Dr. Paul is the “one exception to the Gang of 535″ on Capitol Hill.

Ron Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Gettysburg College and the Duke University School of Medicine, before proudly serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force during the 1960s. He and his wife Carol moved to Texas in 1968, where he began his medical practice in Brazoria County. As a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology, Dr. Paul has delivered more than 4,000 babies! He and Carol, who reside in Lake Jackson, Texas, are the proud parents of five children and have eighteen grandchildren.

While serving in Congress during the late 1970s and early 1980s, Dr. Paul’s limited-government ideals were not popular in Washington. He served on the House Banking committee, where he was a strong advocate for sound monetary policy and an outspoken critic of the Federal Reserve’s inflationary measures. He also was a key member of the Gold Commission, advocating a return to a gold standard for our currency. He was an unwavering advocate of pro-life and pro-family values. Dr. Paul consistently voted to lower or abolish federal taxes, spending, and regulation, and used his House seat to actively promote the return of government to its proper constitutional levels. In 1984, he voluntarily relinquished his House seat and returned to his medical practice.

Dr. Paul returned to Congress in 1997 to represent the 14th Congressional district of Texas. He serves on the House Financial Services Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee. On the Financial Services Committee, Rep. Paul serves as the chairman of the Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology. He continues to advocate a dramatic reduction in the size of the federal government and a return to constitutional principles.

Dr. Paul is the author of several books, including The Revolution: A Manifesto, End the Fed, Liberty Defined, Challenge to Liberty; The Case for Gold; and A Republic, If You Can Keep It. He has been a distinguished counselor to the Ludwig von Mises Institute, and is widely quoted by scholars and writers in the fields of monetary policy, banking, and political economy. He has received many awards and honors during his career in Congress, from organizations such as the National Taxpayers Union, Citizens Against Government Waste, the Council for a Competitive Economy, and countless others.

Dr. Paul’s consistent voting record prompted one Congressman to comment that “Ron Paul personifies the Founding Fathers’ ideal of the citizen-statesman. He makes it clear that his principles will never be compromised, and they never are.â€

    Why is that
Because that's how both sides of a candidate that could be EVERYONE'S President are shown.

When a person wants to try and convince someone to vote for who they want to be president, they post all kinds of posts showing their candidate in a good light. And then if someone else says I will show you some things that are not good about that candidate, they try to belittle the person who is saying the candidate may very well not be as competent as portrayed.

Oh I am sure a male homosexual would come right out and say I feel more like a female if he/she wanted to join the military.
again... that was Obama, Reid, Pelosi and the dem's that pushed that issue; do you have a post on here vilafying them for that
And Paul was right there with them! Besides it is not Pelosi, Reid or Obama in the GOP who wants to be the president.

Tea Party fave in spotlight for 'gay' stance

    Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 4/29/2011 7:35:00 AM

A conservative military advocate wants to educate voters about potential GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul who was one of a handful of Republican members of Congress who voted last year to repeal the law that banned homosexuals from military service.

Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) officially announced the formation of a 2012 presidential exploratory committee during a recent event in Des Moines, Iowa. An exploratory committee allows Paul to raise and spend money toward a 2012 candidacy. Paul finished fifth in the 2008 caucuses and has visited Iowa seven times since.

The Texas congressman is a favorite among libertarians and enjoys strong backing by many tea party supporters. In addition, The Associated Press reports he spoke at a rally for Christian homeschool advocates at the State Capitol last month.

Elaine Donnelly, president of the Center of Military Readiness, says however that Paul supported President Barack Obama and homosexual activists with his vote during last year's lame-duck session of the 111th Congress to repeal "don't ask, don't tell" -- the law excluding homosexuals from serving openly in the U.S. military.

"People should know that Ron Paul voted for gays in the military in 2010," Donnelly states. "I think he should be held accountable for that vote. Certainly anyone who supports the military should question his support of the armed forces with that vote on his record."

Donnelly believes the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" should be an issue in the upcoming presidential campaign.

I keep showing you what Ron Paul said, and how Ron Paul voted, and you keep turning it all around as if he did not actually do what he did. But he did vote to open up the military to homosexuals, and he did say we can not and should not deport illegal aliens. That is why he said to give them a card that would allow them to stay her legally forever. That is AMNESTY!

He said what he said and he did what he did. If you can't face it, I can't help it.

Ron Paul was for SELF Deportation; STOP Giving them the reason to stay; such as welfare. HUD Housing, the ability to get jobs.. if that is stopped they would have no choice but to self deport

as far as Repealing dont ask dont tell Ron Paul voted the way the constitution allowed him to vote; not as a cristian; not as a liberal; not as a Republican

why is there a problem with following the constitution; thats baffling the heck out of me

    as far as WAR

there is a Differance between Attack Spending and Defense Spending

we dont have Defense Spending going on we have ATTACK spending going on

we have 170 bases in 93 countrys

ATTACK Spending has been 900 Billion Dollars + for the last 10 Years

the 900 Billion Dollars is more than ALL other countrys on the face of the Earth COMBINED

We are in 5 Wars and gearing up for 6 and 7

the biggest problem going on IN THIS COUNTRY is People Not Following the Constitution and its NOT Going to Stop until America STOPS IT

Military budget of the United States 2010

(DOES NOT INCLUDE Emergency and supplemental spending)

The recent invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan were largely funded through supplementary spending bills outside the Federal Budget, so they are not included in the military budget figures listed below

By the end of 2008, the U.S. had spent approximately $900 billion in direct costs on the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. Indirect costs such as interest on the additional debt and incremental costs of caring for the more than 33,000 wounded borne by the Veterans Administration are additional. Some experts estimate these indirect costs will eventually exceed the direct costs.[7]
