Just so ordinary. Hard to figure ... very strange.

More will be revealed - some stories say he had mental issues with recent ones in Nevada, some stories say his father was a ruthless, violent bank robber that managed to escape prison to be on the FBI most wanted list. Sometimes the apple does not fall far from the tree.

Not a good idea for Nevada to allow unlimited buying of rifles w/o background checks and follow thru reason for needing 10 rifles. It is someone going off right there.

Maybe he had mental derangement by genes and/or howard hughes syndrome. Aside from the above, I've seen many men that think they can do whatever the hell they want and live their lives that way obnoxiously, but some of them have a dangerous genetic screw loose with harmful results. There must be a way to achieve a viable mental evaluation formula re this gun buying and for every state.

US media are reporting that the gunman who killed almost 60 people at a concert in Las Vegas on Sunday may have used legal but controversial accessories to allow semi-automatic rifles to fire hundreds of rounds per minute.

Two officials told the Associated Press that two devices known as "bump-stocks" had been found along with 23 guns inside Stephen Paddock's room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

It is not yet clear whether the stocks were fitted to the weapons that Paddock used in the massacre, but experts say they could explain the rapid rate of fire heard in videos shared on social media.
Audio analysis of one clip estimated that about 90 rounds were unleashed in only 10 seconds - far faster than a human being could repeatedly pull a trigger.

Since Congress passed the Firearm Owners' Protection Act in 1986, it has been extremely difficult for civilians to buy new, fully automatic weapons, which reload automatically and fire continuously as long as the trigger is depressed.

Thousands of "grandfathered" weapons - those manufactured and registered before 1986 - can still be bought, but they are very expensive and all sales must be approved by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

It is also illegal to modify the internal components of semi-automatic rifles - which typically manage about 60 aimed shots per minute - to make them fully automatic.

However, gun owners can legally buy accessories to increase the rate of fire.
One option is a "trigger crank", "hellfire trigger", or "gat crank", which bolts on to the trigger guard of a semi-automatic rifle and depresses the trigger several times with every rotation.
A bump-stock, or "slide fire", meanwhile harnesses a rifle's recoil. It replaces the weapon's stock, which is held against the shoulder, and allows the rest of the rifle to slide back and forward with every shot despite having no mechanical parts or springs.

The motion makes the trigger collide with, or bump, the shooter's finger as long as they apply forward pressure with the non-shooting hand and rearward pressure with the shooting hand.

Following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut in 2012, California Senator Dianne Feinstein introduced a bill that sought to ban bump-stocks and similar devices, saying that manufacturers were exploiting "loopholes" to circumvent gun laws. However, the bill was defeated in the Senate.

The first photographs taken inside Las Vegas shooting suspect Stephen Paddock’s hotel room show two of the 23 guns used Sunday night to carry out a rampage that killed 59 and injured 527 more, the deadliest mass shooting in recent U.S. history.
Boston 25 News, a Fox affiliate, obtained the photos.

Police said Paddock used a hammer to smash the window of a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino before shooting relentlessly into the crowd below gathered for the last performance of a country music festival.

The photos show the hammer, two of the 23 guns, ammunition and a bipod, used to stand a gun. Police said 19 additional firearms were found in Paddock’s Mesquite, Nev., home.

One of the main questions surrounding the massacre is how Paddock was able to fire his weapons into the crowd at a fully automatic rate. Officials told the Associated Press that Paddock used so-called bump stocks to allow his semiautomatic weapons to fire continuously.

Vegas shooter wired $100,000 to the Philippines

A law enforcement official confirms that Stephen Paddock wired $100,000 to the Philippines. However, officials aren’t yet able to see when he sent the money. They also don’t know the recipient. The FBI is working with authorities in the Philippines to determine additional details.
Also, the official reiterated there are still no ties that they’ve seen to international terrorism.
NBC first reported the $100,000 transfer.

It's just a terrible thing, inexplicable so far. Something very strange about this one. Makes no sense at all. Maybe we'll know more when they've had the chance to review the videos of the comings and goings and after the autopsy.

Stephen Paddock’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley, 62-- who was out the country at the time of the Las Vegas Strip massacre-- arrived in the U.S. late Tuesday and was met by federal agents at Los Angeles International Airport.
