Benghazi or the Redskins: Which is More Important to the Democrats?

What’s important to the Democrats in the United States House of Representatives? Is it power, control, redistribution of wealth? Is it all of the above?
If you chose all of the above, you’d be correct. But it’s also the relatively frivolous.

Take, for example, two of today’s most pressing issues. I say that rather tongue in cheek, because according to at least one powerful Democrat one of these issues is paramount and the other is just a side show.
Actually, that’s not quite accurate. According to MOST Democrats, one is a sideshow and simply a publicity stunt aimed only at raising campaign funds and garnering votes.
What are these issues?
Let’s let a few of the esteemed Democrat politicians describe both issues and you can decide which is most important.
First, there’s Benghazi and the decision (finally) of the Republican leadership to form a single committee to root out the truth concerning the attack and cover-up by the White House.
Now, one would think that getting to the truth of the slaughter of four Americans would be important to everybody. Think again.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, called for a boycott of the panel if its makeup is unbalanced.
“It is nothing more than a political ploy, because continuing to focus obsessively on repealing the Affordable Care Act has lost its luster even among [the GOP’s] own party members,” she told reporters Wednesday at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast.
But the panel’s formation is already a source of drama on Capitol Hill. Democrats argue that the inquiry will serve no purpose other than to motivate the GOP base in this midterm election year and drag Hillary Clinton through the mud ahead of a possible 2016 presidential run. Others have drawn comparisons to the McCarthy hearings.
GOP leaders have dismissed a request from Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Whip Steny Hoyer for equal party representation…
Yet, writes RCP:

“When Nancy Pelosi was speaker in 2006, the panel she convened to investigate climate change had nine Democrats and six Republicans.”
Others Democrats argued that they should participate in the investigation to help neutralize the panel. “I think we’ve got to be there to make sure people understand what’s really going on and not allow witnesses to be badgered,” said California Rep. Henry Waxman, the ranking member of the Energy and Commerce Committee.
Okay, so Democrats think Benghazi isn’t important. The death of four Americans isn’t important. The obvious illegal gun-running isn’t important. The cover-up isn’t important. According to Waxman, it’s only important to be on the committee to “neutralize” it, to obstruct and subvert the process.
That’s the American way!
So if a bloody attack on an American consulate isn’t important to Waxman…what is?
Evidently the name of a professional football team should command the full attention and weight of the U.S. Congress. That team being the Washington Redskins.

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-California) is urging the Committee on Energy and Commerce to hold a hearing to examine the racial insensitivity of the team’s name in light of the actions taken against Sterling.
The team’s derogatory name has been a source of controversy for decades, and has heated up in recent years because of several high-profile Change the Name campaigns, most notably the one launched last year by the Native American group Oneida Indian Nation. In a letter to Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), who chairs the Committee, Waxman writes that “in the case of the Washington football team, the offensive conduct is public, not private…but is being condoned and defended by the National Football League.”
“As the Committee with primary jurisdiction over sports, we could play a constructive role in challenging racism by asking Mr. [Dan] Snyder and Mr. [Roger] Goodell,” Waxman writes, “to explain in a public hearing how their actions are consistent with the public interest.”
So a team that has been the “Redskins” since 1933 and “Washington Redskins” since 1937 has only now drawn the ire of a political hack like Waxman who evidently believes it is far more pressing to mettle in the affairs of a private sports league than to uncover the truth of the brutal murder of Americans.
There you go America — that’s your present-day Democrat party.

HILLARY’S BOKO MISTAKE-O: She Refused to Class Boko Haram as ‘Terrororists’ After Threats to ‘Murder the U.S. Ambassador’

Boko Haram, the African Islamist terror group whose April kidnapping of nearly 300 young girls has united the civilized world in anger, promised to assassinate U.S. ambassador to Nigeria Terence McCulley in February 2012, vowing to murder him if America signed a terrorism-fighting Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the government in Abuja.

McCulley, now the U.S. ambassador to Ivory Coast, was not harmed. But the threat, coming amid a years-long bombing campaign that killed more than 1,400 Nigerian civilians, didn’t move then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to fast-track the addition of Boko Haram to the U.S. government’s official list of international terrorist groups.

Independent media outlets inside Nigeria first reported on February 9, 2012 that an unnamed Boko Haram leader issued a statement promising that ‘we will murder the U.S. Ambassador if the MOU is signed.’

The revelation provides a stark parallel with assassination warnings issued by Islamist groups in Benghazi, Libya in the months before the September 11, 2012 attack that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other American personnel.

In June of that year, Ansar al-Shariah – the al-Qaeda-linked group that carried out the Benghazi attack – held a parade, two days of rallies and a press conference in central Benghazi. With dozens of military vehicles and heavy arms on display, the terrorists held what an intelligence analyst later said was ‘a team pep rally before the game, only for jihad.’

The Clinton State Department infamously ignored that event, even though the first attack on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Benghazi followed two days later – a bombing at the compound’s gate that left a hole big enough for 40 men to walk through.

Later requests for additional armed guards at the Benghazi station also fell on deaf ears. Ansar al-Shariah ultimately returned to finish the job.
A September 2013 report from the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee ominously speculated that McCulley’s fate in Nigeria could be the same as Stevens’ in Libya.

Former President Bill Clinton divulged on Wednesday that it took former secretary of state Hillary Clinton ‘six months of very serious work’ last year to recover from a fainting spell in December 2012 that resulted in a concussion and blood clot.
Her long recovery is ‘something she never low-balled,’ Bill said.

But Bill’s timeline contradicts the State Department’s claims just after the conclusion of Hillary’s treatment in January 2013 that ‘she seems to be fully recovered.’

(CNN) -- Karl Rove's suggestion that Hillary Clinton suffers from a brain injury prompted Democrats to come to her defense. And now, her husband is speaking up, saying "she's strong and working out."

Rove, the mastermind behind George W. Bush's two presidential election victories, appeared at a conference last week, where he discussed a 2012 incident that sent the then-secretary of state to the hospital, according to the New York Post's Page Six gossip column.

"Thirty days in the hospital?" asked Rove, a Fox News Channel contributor, according to the report. "And when she reappears, she's wearing glasses that are only for people who have traumatic brain injury? We need to know what's up with that."

Clinton, who's seriously considering a second bid for the White House, suffered a blood clot in December 2012, after falling. After first going to the hospital for testing, Clinton later was admitted for a three-day stay at a hospital in New York.
The incident prevented her from testifying before Congress about the deadly 2012 terror attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, raising questions from some Republicans. She eventually appeared before lawmakers in January 2013.

Should Clinton, 66, decide to seek the presidency, her health likely would be raised in the same context as any other candidate.

Clinton: No need for new Benghazi committee, but GOP 'calls the shots' in the House

Democrats and others were quick to slam Rove. The Democratic National Committee put out a statement saying, "It appears Karl Rove's medical diagnoses are about as solid as his election night prognostications."

The statement refers to Rove's prediction that Mitt Romney would win the 2012 presidential election.

Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said "Karl Rove has deceived the country for years, but there are no words for this level of lying."

As for Clinton's health, Merrill added, "She is 100%. Period."

Former president weighs in

On Wednesday, former President Bill Clinton said he was "sort of dumbfounded" by the comments.

"Look, she works out every week, she is strong, she's doing great. As far as I can tell she's in better shape than I am. She certainly seems to have more stamina now," he said.

Clinton also joked about Rove.

"I got to give him credit, you know, that embodies that old saying that consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds. First they said she faked her concussion. And now they say she's auditioning for a part on the Walking Dead," he said.

Rove defended his comments on Tuesday on Fox News Channel, saying that it's legitimate to ask about a potential presidential candidate's health.

"No, no. I didn't say she had brain damage, she had a serious health episode and my point was that I think it was from the 7th of December in 2012 through the 7th of January of 2013, she underwent, first she had apparently a serious virus.

"They announced then on the 15th of December that she had at some period in the past week fallen. They didn't say when, they didn't say where. She was recovering at home. On the 30th of December she goes in and turns out to have had a blood clot. They won't say where.

"The next day they say it is between her skull and her brain behind her right ear. She is in the hospital for four days. She goes home, is back in the office on the 7th and testifies on the 25th wearing special glasses that allow her to deal with the double vision that this episode caused," Rove said

While she was hospitalized, Clinton's doctors said they were confident that she would make a full recovery.

Clinton has increasingly come under attack by Republicans as she seriously considers a presidential bid. If she decides to run, she would instantly become the overwhelming frontrunner for the Democratic nomination. At the same time, Clinton is keeping up a very demanding speaking schedule that includes lots of travel.

Stepped up attacks

While she mulls her decision, the GOP and pro-Republican outside groups have stepped up their attacks on Clinton, on everything from the Benghazi incident to the 1990s Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Rove said Clinton's health will be a factor if she runs.

"My point was that Hillary Clinton wants to run for president, but she would not be human if this didn't enter in as a consideration. My other point is this will be an issue in the 2016 race whether she likes it or not. Every presidential candidate is asked for their health records," Rove added Tuesday.

Hillary Clinton took ill at some point the week of December 9, 2012, just as she was supposed to testify before a Congressional committee about the terrorist attack that took four American lives in Benghazi, Libya three months before.
After falling in her home, Clinton incurred a concussion. The State Department did not say what day the accident occurred, but it described her concussion on December 13 as ‘not severe.’
It was not until December 15 that State explained Clinton’s accident was related to a stomach virus that caused her to become dehydrated and faint.

Hillary Clinton Just Declared War On Gun Owners

Why would she begin an unnecessary war with gun owners?

On May 7th, an apoplectic CNN attempted to provide cover for Hillary Clinton after her unprovoked assault on 100 million American gun owners. Speaking before the National Council for Behavioral Health, Hillary stated that the nation’s “gun culture” had gotten “way out of balance.” “We’ve got to rein in what has become an almost article of faith that anybody can have a gun anywhere, anytime” added Clinton. “I don’t believe that is in the best interest of the vast majority of people.”

“She’s talking in the context of mental health,” claimed CNN talking head John King in the hope of bailing his fellow liberal out of the ofttimes politically fatal quagmire of anti-gun zealotry. After all, who could favor arming the mentally unstable?

But Hillary’s nonsensical claims had nothing to do with the acquisition of firearms by the mentally ill. “At the rate we’re going, we’re going to have so many people with guns everywhere, fully licensed, fully validated,” lamented Clinton. Her concerns obviously revolve around the increasing number of “fully licensed” and “fully validated” gun owners. And that’s a group that certainly doesn’t include the mentally ill!

Not satisfied that she had done enough damage to her chances in 2016, Clinton then claimed that the proliferation of guns “[is] what happens in the countries I’ve visited where there is no rule of law and no self-control…” This is “…something that we cannot just let go without paying attention,” said Hillary, not only insulting America’s law-abiding gun owners but obviously threatening them with a new round of anti-gun legislation from the federal government.

Yet even more mind-boggling than her sudden decision to declare war on America’s gun owners was Hillary’s laughable claim that she could say all she had and “…still support the right of people to own guns.” Now that’s funny stuff!

As usual, Hillary made statements that cannot be supported by anything even resembling a fact. No, Mrs. Clinton, “anybody” cannot “have a gun anywhere, anytime.” The left made certain of that with the manufacture of killing fields they call “gun free” zones. Also, little in the U.S. is more subject to the “rule of law” than the right to keep and bear arms.

As for “self-control,” Concealed Carry license holders are 3 times less likely to commit a domestic murder with a firearm than are police officers!
But the real question here is why? Why would Hillary believe it a good idea to take up publicly declared residence on the losing side of one of the most polarizing subjects in politics? Trailing Barack Obama in the polls in 2008, Hillary became a sudden convert to the belief that gun ownership was just swell. Speaking of her own experience shooting with her father, Hillary said of gun ownership at the time: “It’s part of culture. It’s part of a way of life. People enjoy hunting and shooting because it’s an important part of who they are.”

But that tale was no more truthful than her claim to have been named after Sir Edmund Hillary–3 years BEFORE he climbed Mt. Everest.
Of course, little that Hillary Clinton has ever said has not been a lie. She is a cold, calculating, political thug who measures the value of things according to their effect on public opinion. So why would she begin an unnecessary war with gun owners? Why provide the eventual Republican opponent with golden opportunities for “Here’s what Hillary really thinks about gun owners” commercials?

It doesn’t make much sense to me.

Bill Clinton Defends Hillary On Benghazi - Brings up Diplomats Murdered Under Bush

Former President Bill Clinton defended Hillary Clinton’s handling of the Benghazi attacks during her tenure as secretary of state, noting that “most Americans don’t even know how many American diplomatic personnel were killed when President Bush was president.”

Clinton spoke Wednesday at the Peter G. Peterson Foundation’s fiscal summit — portions of which were aired on MSNBC’s “Ronan Farrow Daily” — frequently mentioning his wife as the Democratic power couple gears up for a Hillary presidential campaign in 2016.

The former Arkansas governor laughed off speculation, touched off earlier this week by Karl Rove, that Hillary might be in poor health. “First they said she faked her concussion, and now they say she’s auditioning for a part on ‘The Walking Dead,’” he cracked.

“You can’t be too upset about it,” he continued. “This is just the beginning, they’ll get better and better at it. I mean, you know — I’m still waiting for them to admit there was nothing to Whitewater.”

But Bill became more serious when discussing Benghazi, somberly asserting that his wife did the best she could in a tough circumstance.

“In my opinion, Hillary did what she should of done,” he said, noting the former secretary of state quickly empaneled a committee to look into diplomatic security.

“They made 29 recommendations — she took them and started implementing them,” Clinton claimed. “And they established the fact that, whether it was right or wrong, in the past secretaries of state never were involved directly in these security decisions.”

The former president also pointedly suggested the Republican investigation is largely driven by politics. “Most Americans don’t even know how many American diplomatic personnel were killed when President Bush was president,” he said.

Ambassador Chris Stevens, murdered in Benghazi during the September 11, 2012 attack, was the first ambassador to be killed in the line of duty since 1979.

Much of the Republican questions on the attack concern the administration’s changing narrative and what the State Department was doing in Benghazi when most other Western outposts had already retreated from the dangerous city.
