    Hillary's Chinese Espionage Problem

    By Ed Timperlake

Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has a new book out. In keeping with the adage “there is no such thing as bad publicity” the title will not be mentioned. However, Clinton Inc. sycophants will do everything possible to hype her book onto any best seller list that they can think of or, at least at a minimum delay it from the very embarrassing remainders table at books stores.
    Here is her Amazon introduction:
“All of us face hard choices in our lives,” Hillary Rodham Clinton writes at the start of this personal chronicle of years at the center of world events. “Life is about making such choices. Our choices and how we handle them shape the people we become.”
She is exactly right, so it is only appropriate that American Thinker readers look at her past participation in world events when she was the First Lady. In that role she directly engaged with the Peoples Republic Of China (PRC).
Johnny Chung was born in Taiwan but living in Southern California when he was given $300,000 by Chinese Gen Ji of the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) Military Intelligence because, "We like your president very much.” Among Chung’s objectives in using the money were to go directly to Hillary Rodham Clinton and request:
A tour of the White House
Lunch at the White House Mess
A photo op with the First Lady.
An invitation to attend the president’s radio address
He was very successful, and on March 11, 1995, Johnny Chung and his PRC friends attended President Clinton’s weekly radio address after Chung handed a check for $50,000 made out to the DNC to Hillary’s chief of staff following a March 9 1995 photo op with the first lady.
The PRC citizens accompanying Chung were given the photos, but not until they were vetted by the CIA officer on the White House staff. He remarked in his e-mail about “the joys of balancing foreign policy considerations against domestic politics…. I do not see any damage to U.S. foreign policy from giving Johnny Chung the pictures.”
A fellow National Security Council staffer asked if the photos could be released and the reply was that they were Chinese Officials.
It would be interesting to know who the CIA White House officer was reporting back to at Langley CIA HQ about all this. Because the PLA money, laundered through Chung and given to Hillary Clinton, comprised a felony and the Agency should have made a criminal referral to the FBI and Department of Justice.
An important question during those years, in light of his recent Congressional testimony on Benghazi, denying “that there was any cover-up or political influence in messaging after the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi,” is: “Was Mike Morrell in the CIA Langley chain-of-command for the Clinton White House CIA liaison? “
From his official bio: “He (Michael Morell) later worked on East Asia for 14 years, holding a number of jobs in analysis and in management before his selection in 1999 as Director of the Office of Asian Pacific and Latin American Analysis.”
Militarily, the Pacific is coming to a boil, as the PLA relentlessly threatens American Allies. The lasting damage from the legacy of the Clinton Administration can be seen in China’s new muscle.
Today’s headlines from Asia are filled with PLA threats, so the US Military must make a significant “pivot” to Asia. The PLA has become a world class formidable modern military thanks to Chinese Military Intelligence operations targeting the Clinton Administration.
Fortunately, as Hillary Rodham Clinton contemplates a run for President, there is an historical well-documented bi-partisan Congressional report that she cannot run away from. There can be seen as a reckoning for her past “Life choices.”
The history of PLA espionage attempts against US military and dual-use technology in the nineties were identified and reported on by a Select Committee of the House of Representatives. The Congressional report is a tribute to the tremendous bipartisan effort of those Members who served because the final report was voted out unanimously:

    • “U.S. National Security and Military/Commercial Concerns with the People’s Republic of China,” Declassified Report issued, May 25, 1999 106th Congress, 1st Session.

The late Chairman Solomon of the House Committee on Rules established this select Committee under the direction of the Speaker because of the clear and present danger of illegal foreign money entering the American political process.
All types of individuals were funneling money into the American political process, from drug dealers and the Russian Mafia to PLA espionage agents. It was a dangerous and nasty time -- and America is still living with the consequences of those days.
The PRC had an agenda not only to curry favor with agents of influence but also collect information and conduct espionage operations, so a select Congressional committee was created. The extensive report issued by that committee covered significant aspects of US military and commercial dual-use technology that was targeted by PRC collectors. The PRC agent’s success in the 90s and continuing to this day is being seen in the continued rapid modernization of all military forces of the Peoples Liberation Army.
American voters may be given a choice to vote for Hillary Rodham Clinton for President in 2016. If she is successful, quite possibly PLA Intelligence Officers may again “like our president very much” in the next Clinton, Inc. President. It was a shameful period in American history, and now our children and grandchildren have to live with real and deadly consequences.

Trey Gowdy Must Call out Mike Rogers on Benghazi

    Walid Shoebat 15 hours ago

“Good investigators talk to everybody, not just folks whose testimony may buttress your position.” – Rep. Trey Gowdy, House Select Committee on Benghazi Chairman, 12/30/13
Members of Congress should never be trusted, even the ones who seem to be the most trustworthy. As much as the American people may be inclined to trust House Select Committee on questionable decision by appointing Philip Kiko as Executive Director, as [B]Mike Rogers (R-MI). In response to an irresponsible New York Times piece on Benghazi by David Kirkpatrick last December – reviewed by expressed skepticism with Kirkpatrick’s claims that al-Qaeda wasn’t involved in the attack. Gowdy said:
    [B]
“They should believe Mike Rogers, who is a former FBI agent and Adam Schiff who happens to be in a different party but I respect him greatly… Both of those men dedicated their lives to following the facts wherever they take you, without respect to trying to prop up anybody’s political career, without respect to trying to damage anyone. Wherever the facts go, that’s where they go.”
In that exchange, Gowdy asserted Rogers should be believed over egregious lies of Kirkpatrick. With all due respect, that’s an easy call. A call not so easy for Gowdy is one that needs to be made – a tough deposition of Rogers.

There are plenty of reasons to do so, many chronicled at Shoebat.com reported on a brand new reason, having to do with whom Rogers has chosen to honor.

Rogers should be deposed about what he knows and he should be asked very hard questions.

The last time there was a major investigation into a terrorist attack that happened on September 11th, the body charged with investigating it

[B][B]One of Hillary Clinton’s allies has Benghazi than they’ve told the American people so far.
Rogers clearly falls in that category.

Here is the December interview with Gowdy mentioned above:

Boehner corrects Hillary: Benghazi panel about ‘one issue only’ — the truth

House Speaker John A. Boehner said Friday that the select committee charged with investigating the 2012 terrorist attack on a U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, is about getting the truth and that it’s up to the committee members to decide who they want to call as witnesses.

Mr. Boehner, Ohio Republican, was asked about a reported excerpt from a forthcoming book by former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in which Mrs. Clinton accuses people of exploiting the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack for political gain.

“This is about one issue and one issue only, and that is getting the truth for the American people and the truth about what happened in Benghazi for the four families who lost their loved ones there,” Mr. Boehner said.

Mrs. Clinton has said that Benghazi is her biggest regret during her time in the Obama administration, but has also dismissed the need for a special panel to investigate the attack, which claimed the lives of four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens.

Hillary: Benghazi Is the Reason I Should Run

    Monday, 09 Jun 2014 11:08 PM
    By Greg Richter

Her role in the Benghazi controversy is no reason she shouldn't run for president, Hillary Clinton told ABC News' Diane Sawyer in an interview aired Monday. On the contrary, she said, it's the very reason she should run.

The former secretary of state under President Barack Obama told Sawyer she views the continuing controversy as a diversion from the work Congress should be doing.

"Actually, it's more of a reason to run, because I do not believe our great country should be playing minor-league ball. We ought to be in the majors," Clinton said in a portion of the interview, aired on ABC's "World News Tonight."

"I view this as really apart from – even a diversion from – the hard work that the Congress should be doing about the problems facing our country and the world," she said.

Clinton told Sawyer that as head of the State Department at the time, she takes responsibility for the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, 2012, but added that she did not have the expertise to make decisions such as where walls should be secured against bombings.

"What I did was give very direct instructions that the people who have the expertise and experience in security," Clinton said. "I'm not equipped to sit and look at blueprints, to determine where the blast walls need to be or where the reinforcements need to be. That's why we hire people who have that expertise."

U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens was among the four Americans killed in the attacks. Republicans have criticized the lack of response from Clinton's State Department when Stevens requested added security.

They also have taken the administration to task for initially trying to blame the attacks on an anti-Muslim video produced in the United States. They say the evidence shows a coordinated effort that was planned and unrelated to the video.

"Well, I certainly would give anything on earth if this had not happened, and I certainly would wish that we had made some of the changes that came to our attention to make as a result of the investigation," Clinton said. "But I also am clear in my own mind that we had a system and that system, of course, ended with me. I take responsibility, but I was not making security decisions."

Sawyer pressed Clinton on the issue, noting that the International Red Cross and British embassy officials had already pulled out of Benghazi over the growing threat there.

Clinton said it was important to have diplomatic assets there and said there were other diplomatic facilities around the world in similar situations.

"Were there security threats? Yes. And there is a long list of countries where there are security threats to American interests," Clinton said.

Sawyer got Clinton to acknowledge that Benghazi was in the top 10 of security risks, then asked why the head of the State Department would not be personally involved in security rather than delegating it all to her staff.

Clinton said there were other places that they saw as much higher concerns, adding, "We cannot eliminate every threat, every danger."

Clinton did not say in the interview whether she will testify before the House select committee set to look into the attacks and their aftermath.

"That's going to be up to the people running the hearing," she said.

Clinton is currently doing interviews in conjunction with her new memoir "Hard Choices." Observers see it as part of her likely Democratic bid for the White House in 2016, for which she is the strong early front-runner.

Clinton told Sawyer she won't make a decision on running before the end of 2014.

Senator: Clinton State Dept. Broke Law, Lied About Boko Haram Terror Threat

Letter: Reports to Congress on Boko Haram terror threat intentionally misleading

    AP

    BY: Adam Kredo
    June 10, 2014 9:17 am
A leading senator has charged that Hillary Clinton’s State Department broke the law by intentionally obfuscating and downplaying to Congress the terror threat posed by the Nigerian extremist group Boko Haram, which recently gained international infamy for violently kidnapping more than 200 schoolgirls.
Sen. David Vitter (R., La.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, petitioned Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday to explain why Clinton’s State Department misrepresented and downplayed key information about Boko Haram’s terrorist activities in its annual reports to Congress.
Former Secretary of State Clinton lied to Congress when she said that the State Department lacked the necessary information to designate Boko Haram as a terror group, according to Vitter’s letter, which presents new information about the State Department’s purported efforts to downplay the terror group’s impact.
Clinton’s State Department fought against efforts to designate Boko Haram for nearly two years, a move that likely limited U.S. efforts to confront the group earlier and allowed it to grow in strength.
Vitter charges that officials working under Clinton intentionally manipulated words and mislead Congress in its annual reports to create the impression that Boko Haram posed little to no threat.
Clinton’s State Department “repeatedly stated in the year leading up to the designation that it did not have data available or the necessary understanding to make the determination,” Vitter wrote to Kerry, according to a copy of unreleased letter obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
However, “recent evidence suggests Secretary Hillary Clinton and the State Departments not only knew of the extent, but also deliberately attempted to obfuscate the issue in order to avoid having to make the designation of Boko Haram as a [Foreign Terrorist Organization], including downplaying the State Department’s own Country Reports on Terrorism (CRT),” Vitter writes.
“Inaccuracies within official documents make it clear that the State Department misled Congress and the American people,” the letter states. “Evidence suggests that there was an internal decision by the Office of Coordinator for Counterterrorism to downplay official, legally required, intelligence data in order to purposefully avoid making the determination.”
Vitter demands in a series of questions that Kerry provide answers as to why the State Department “ignored data and misrepresented its legal requirements to Congress.”
U.S. law stipulates that the State Department provides Congress with “statistical information supported by data” in its annual reports on terrorist activities in foreign countries.
Officials in Clinton’s State Department failed to uphold this mandate, Vitter charges, citing evidence that reports of Boko Haram’s activity by the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) were intentionally ignored.
The NCTC in 2011 “provided the State Department with the statistical information necessary to determine that Boko Haram was engaged in terrorist activity,” Vitter writes. “However, in completing the official annual CRT provided to Congress” at that time “the State Department chose not to include this information.”
New evidence suggests that NCTC information about Boko Haram’s terrorist activities was intentionally left out of the State Department’s reports to Congress, a move that effectively left lawmakers in the dark about the extremist group’s growing influence.
“In multiple cases, where the NCTC clearly labeled and claimed that Boko Haram was engaged in terrorist activity against foreign nations, Secretary Clinton’s office in their own report minimized the attack and separated the issue from Boko Haram,” according to Vitter’s letter.
A 2012 NCTC report, for instance, stated that Africa experienced 978 attacks in 2011, representing an 11.5 percent increase from 2010 levels.
This uptick was attributed “in large part to the more aggressive attack tempo of the Nigeria-based terrorist group Boko Haram,” according to a portion of the NCTC report included in Vitter’s letter.
The NCTC further reported in that year that Boko Haram had conducted a terror attack against Western targets, accounting for “the largest terrorist attack in the country to date,” according to the report.
Yet Clinton’s State Department deemphasized this data and “only chose to include loose evidence” in its own terrorism report to Congress, Vitter states.
“The conflict in Nigeria continued throughout the northern part of the country with hundreds of casualties as indigenous terrorist attacks increased,” the State Department wrote in its report to Congress at the time. “The Nigerian extremist group, Boko Haram, claimed responsibility for some of these attacks.”
Vitter says that this phrasing is proof of the State Department’s bid to create the impression that Boko Haram was a minimal threat.
“It appears that this variation in wording fails to meet the legal requirements based on information it received, and inserts a higher degree of doubt about whether Boko Haram is directly engaged in terrorist activity,” Vitter writes.
The State Department report issued under Clinton “ignores the NCTC labeling Boko Haram as a ‘terrorist group,’ instead suggesting that there may be a loose connection,” Vitter further adds.
“These facts are troubling considering multiple official reports between 2010 and 2012, including the Global Terrorism Database, concluded that Boko Haram was improving their capability to coordinate on an operational level with al Qaeda affiliates, including al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) and al-Shabaab.”
Boko Haram has a long history of terrorism, having detonated a car bomb at a United Nations headquarters in Abuja, an attack that killed 23 and injured 81 others.
The State Department’s own reports from 2009 to 2013 further demonstrate that Boko Haram “steadily increased in deadliness and its connectivity to terrorist organizations,” according to Vitter’s letter.
Boko Haram has even gone on to top al-Shabaab and al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula as the leading regional terrorist group, having killed nearly 4,000 people from 2009 to 2013.
Independent terrorism analysts have determined that Boko Haram and al Qaeda have been linked for more than a decade, and that the extremist group has ties to a least six al Qaeda affiliates, according to a recent report by the Henry Jackson Society (HJS).
There is also evidence that Boko Haram has taken direct orders from al Qaeda, according to HJS.
Yet the annual report to Congress “goes out of its way to downplay the effectiveness or lethality of the group.” Boko Haram’s connections to al Qeada were clear to U.S. authorities from at least 2010 on, according to information from the NCTC.
Following Boko Haram’s successful and deadly attack on the U.N.—an incident the NCTC dubbed “the largest terrorist attack in the country to date—Clinton’s State Department “largely dismissed the events and that data, claiming” in its report to Congress that “no terrorist attacks occurred in the Southern states of Nigeria.”
Independent terrorism analyst Olivier Guitta, research director for HJS, warned in a recent statement that “the international community has been underestimating Boko Haram, even though it is in the top 3 of the bloodiest terrorist groups in the world.”
Vitter is seeking answers as to why the State Department “manipulated words” and misled Congress.
“The State Department’s documents may have failed to explicitly label Boko Haram as a terrorist organization, in almost complete disregard of specific [National Counterterrorism Center] data, but my concern goes deeper to address the internal decision to manipulate words and mislead Congress,” he states in the letter to Kerry.
“The evidence suggests that the office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism may have intentionally exploited the statistical information provided to them by law in an attempt to neglect Boko Haram’s terrorist activity,” he adds.
Vitter has given Kerry until July 10 to respond to his queries about the issue.
