Homemade Flour Paint That Will Last 5 to 10 Years For Outdoor Use.

All the way from France, Engelleben site shares a recipe to make a Flour Paint That Will Last 5 to 10 Years For Outdoor Use.

This is something I have never seen before but they actually make almost a white sauce like for cooking without the butter then add linseed oil which I know is used for water proofing ( for example it is used on toboggans) and your choice of pigments. So there you have what they are calling painting flour that will last for years. I love this, got an old redwood fence that faded. Use this to bring it back to life. Great for most any wood that is outdoors.

After receiving loads of questions on what type of pigment is used we did some research and found this very informative article from Artdec. They tell us “Flour Paint, however, is colored with naturalearth pigments, such as ochre, replacing Falu red. This explains why it’s also commonly called “Ochre Paint”. It’s important to note that this paint can also be colored by using other pigment types, such as iron oxides and other pigments, in order to have a wider color choice than earth pigments offer, which are mostly available in yellows, browns and reds, as shown below.” It looks like they also sell the pigments but I also read another article that said you can buy them from an artist supply store.
