The Real ID will stop most illegals from driving. All of the 20 million illegals do not need to be caught by traffic cops because there will be Attrition by Enforcement.

The terrorists used an aircraft before, so there is no reason to think they would not do so again to inflict the most damage and terror. But driving any kind of vehicle or using any kind of public transportation is a privilege rather than a right. But you do have the right to walk or ride a bicycle although there are also regulations governing those activities. (You cannot ride a bike on the sidewalk or walk along the freeway.)

A Real ID will make the nation more secure, and I am exercising my right to support it as a means of repelling the invaders.

Those who would give up a minimal amount of privacy to purchase a way to accelerate the speedy deportation of invaders, deserve a nation free of illegal aliens.

We have ID laws already, why you think more laws are needed is beyond me. We don't enforce the laws we have already. It's just like gun laws, only the legal owners of guns will be the ones to give them up. The criminals go on about their business, and public safety is lessened, not enhanced.

If you think for one minute that illegals and their enablers won't be able to forge these so-called 'real' ID's, you haven't been paying attention. If you think 800+ hacks in 2 years is 'infrequent', you need a math lesson. If you think this program is NOT designed to track citizens you need to go back to page one and start reading this thread again.

`We'll take number': S.C. just said no

"We'll take a number" (Feb. 8 editorial) fails to adequately address the "new federal requirements intended to improve national security" that will likely "make those waits even longer" for N.C. driver's license applicants.That new barrage of red tape won't strike South Carolinians, whose legislature has passed a simple and constitutional measure stating, "The State shall not participate in the implementation of the federal Real ID Act."

Because the states haven't delegated the authority to mandate how drivers' licenses are issued, the Big Brother-inspired Real ID act violates the 10th Amendment. What a shame North Carolina's legislators failed to stand up to this latest D.C. power grab.

We need to defeat the Real ID and we have only until May 11th of this year to keep the states out of participation. Despite what you have heard little has been done until recently to ensure that states pass the legislation that stops the Real ID for their citizens. Now, that effort is in fast forward.


The impact of the Real ID is worse than anything you ever heard and billions in profits to the most corrupt corporations in America are riding on its implementation using biometrics. Your DNA, your eye scan, your finger prints and your medical records will become, effectively, the property of not just one government agency but all agencies, American and global. You did not hear about this for the same reason Congress didn't. The details were buried in the footnotes.


The fast forward for stopping the Real ID comes in the form of a very small group of determined individuals.


Mark Lerner, the founder of Real ID Coalition, is doing a great job getting states to pass the needed legislation barring their participation. We need 20 states to ensure it cannot be carried out. Mark is now working his way through the state legislatures and they are finally finding out the truth and passing the needed legislation. Mark and the coalition people are straight ahead kind of folks and their information is right on and factual. Homeland Insecurity hates that.


You can help. The first way is to donate, and we really need the money first just to keep Mark on the road and second to pay for security. You will see why in a moment. You can also replicate the actions of Freedom Man himself, Ernie Hancock who, as always, took his own kind of action.


Ernie had tickets for not properly recycling printed up. These looked like the real thing; lots of check off boxes with the infractions of the recipient clearly noted. But the phone number went to a newspaper in Phoenix. 40 of the tickets were placed on trashcans. That paper changed its phone number. The url on the ticket took you to a very special and entirely accurate site, Arizona Tip Hotline. Ernie wonders what would have happened if they had used more than 40 of the tickets. He has thousands and Ernie has not yet begun to make the powers that be in Arizona unhappy.


The phones at city hall lit up and have stayed lit. The people are starting to understand the Real ID. Now we need to get the model legislation written by Mark to those in the Arizona legislature. We also need to get Mark there to hammer home the message in the language legislators best understand.


Ernie gets the attention of the public and the establishment; Mark bats clean up, pulling the state back from the edge of fascism towards freedom.


Today in Oklahoma Mark finished his presentation to various state senators and left. Fifteen minutes later an outraged representative of Homeland Insecurity, reportedly very highly placed, whatever that means, raged into the office of the senator who is sponsoring the bill and demanded that it be defeated and that the Real ID be accepted. Or Else. It seems that the powers that be really, really, want to Real ID. The guy probably bought stock in biometrics.


So tomorrow morning Mark will be meeting this same puffed up bureaucrat for the best two falls out of three before he addresses the whole Senate at 9am. It is amazing how important these adherents to the Uniform Fascism Theory think they are. Stay tuned for more developments.

DMV Computers Down...Again

RALEIGH - According to people trying to get driver's licenses, the Department of Motor Vehicles computer system is down again, causing delays.

"We've been waiting here for three hours," said one driver at a local DMV office. "We've already done everything we need to do, we're just waiting on the computer."

The driver's license offices were already sending people home who came into the office to get a license because of the computer problem. Many people have to take a day off from work to get their licenses renewed, due to long lines.

"I've had to take a half day off to come down here," said one driver. "Now since we're waiting on the computers, I'm having to take the whole day off."

This is the second time this year that North Carolina drivers have experienced major delays in getting their driver's licenses.

On January 7th, the DMV announced that driver's licenses would not be available for a couple of days due to computer database problems.

North Carolina drivers should go ahead and expect major delays in the future in getting their licenses. North Carolina is one of 37 states that are participating in the federal REAL ID system, which is a national identification card effort that will be used to track American citizens.

Homeland Security officials have said the cards would be needed to enter federal buildings, board airplanes and buses, buy cold medicines, and any other purpose deemed necessary by the Homeland Security Administration.

As a result of the new program requirements, starting on July 1st, NC drivers will not be able to receive their driver's licenses on the day that they visit the DMV office to get a renewal. The cards will be sent in the mail to drivers several weeks later after the renewal.

In 2000, a friend and I after reuniting in Nepal decided to explore Tibet and did some of the hardest traveling either one of us had ever done.

While food, water and life-comforts on an undeveloped high altitude desert plateau are difficult to find, what made the traveling more difficult was the Chinese government. One is allowed to travel in Tibet only with a visa and a government guide service, but we obtained 4-day visas to visit the holy city, Lhasa. After spending a few days there, John and I started our three-week walk back to Nepal along the ironically named Freedom Highway.

Few truck drivers would pick us up for fear of punishment. We often would hide underneath sandbags in the back of trucks. Furthermore, there were occasional checkpoints. Fortunately, at the very first checkpoint, the guard did not figure us for national threats and allowed us to “purchaseâ€
