A 70-year-old man was killed early Thursday morning after a pickup truck crashed through his home on FM 842 in the Moffett area, launching a manhunt that ended with the suspect reportedly found hiding under a bed.

Investigators identified the driver as Jorge Urbina Lopez, a resident of the Wilkerson Road address. Surveillance footage showed Lopez and the pickup at a nearby convenience store roughly five minutes before the crash, according to the release.

Lopez was booked into the Angelina County Jail. The sheriff's office said felony charges are pending for failing to stop and render aid in a fatal crash. Authorities confirmed Lopez had previously been deported as an illegal immigrant. His status in the United States is under review by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Lopez had more than a dozen outstanding traffic warrants and a criminal record that stretches back nearly two decades. Jail records show arrests dating as far back as 2006, including charges for assault causing bodily injury, public intoxication and providing false information to law enforcement. He also faced multiple traffic-related offenses, such as driving without a license, expired registration and no insurance.

The investigation is ongoing.
