SCOTLAND NECK — Amidst the humidity and calls from wild birds, about 20 people gathered to memorialize men and women whom lost their lives to domestic violence.

Of those 20, Jesse Flores, 20, shared his story, one of the loss of his mother to domestic violence. His mother, Catherine Ann Webb Flores, was killed on July 4, 2009, after her husband shot her, and then shot himself.
