Maybe you are too young to remember, but this country was largely of European ancestry (along with the blacks who were formerly slaves) until Ted Kennedy's 1965 Immigration law that opened the floodgates to Third World immigration to the USA. What's wrong with immigrants from third world countries? Economic migrants enrich America immensely. America's greatness lies in its economic prowess which in turn is rooted in states like NY and CA that absorb the best immigrants from all over the world.

Immigrants or illegal aliens? Big difference. We don't need any economic migrants with millions of Americans out of work.

Sorry, none of these links address my question. I was asking what is wrong with immigration from third world countries? (compared to immigration from European countries, as that seemed to be the subtext) America is so great precisely because the best and smartest want to move here (and it does not matter what religion or color of your skin is). The argument that we dont need immigrants because the joblessness is high is a non sequitur. In the 1930s when there was record unemployment (33%) people still migrated to the US and people have been migrating continously to America for decades and the unemployment rate shows no relationship to immigration rates. Most immigrants (including illegals) come to work hard and the economy as a whole benefits. Compare this to countries like Japan which are closed to immigrants, they are stagnant while America is so vibrant. What is the difference? The difference lies in the way the US attracts the best immigrants without regard to skin color, race or religion.

We have laws that allow us to screen those that would come here and become citizens.

The problem with third world immigrants? Unchecked disease and health issues, inability to assimilate, burden on the public debt, destruction of a living wage and crime.

We are being economically raped by illegal immigrants from third world countries while the UN agenda 21 encouraged "remittances" enrich the international banking system and the usually corrupt governments of the countries that they come from at the expense of our own prosterity.

They are really good at coming here and demanding a living but too cowardly to stay in thier own countries and demand better.

America is not what I'd call "vibrant" right now. 20+% unemployment with California being among the highest and you call that "vibrant"? CA is also in the hole for $13 billion - about what illegals cost the state every year.

Try telling Jamiel Shaw's family, and countless others who have been killed and victimized by "immigrants" how the US attracts the "best" immigrants.

    while America is so vibrant.
    Incorrect.

America's current economy is either worse than the great depression or the worst since the great depression at the same time we have the largest number and soon percentage of immigrants (legal and illegal( in our history.

    recent news
U.S. Immigrant Population at All-Time High: 40 Million
    http://www.alipac.us/article6767.html

Your claim that immigration leads to prosperity would appear to be counter indicated by our current condition.

Yes, there are people and industries like banks, drug smugglers, restaurants, and home builders, and beer dealers that have made a lot of money off of hyper legal immigration and illegal immigration but the costs have been great to the American public...

    negative impacts of illegal immigration...
    http://www.endillegalimmigration.com/Pr ... ndex.shtml

The costs are so great in fact that the original innocent inhabitants of America are on the verge of having our entire nation stolen from us by a new voting block of illegal aliens turned into voters that will permanently prevent the original center right of America from having a say in policy ever again.

Grand theft nation. American voters displaced by mass illegal and hyper legal invasion conducted by Global interests eager to see the once proud and free people of American submerged in a demographic flood.

Illegal immigrants displace American workers driving up the unemployment rate.

Throughout the history of America, our men and women would take on any job or an extra job or menial jobs when times got tough for individual families or the nation.

Today, our citizens are cut off from those jobs and are going on the government dole and losing their homes in historic numbers.

No, you have to put it in perspective, the link you quote says it very clearly: "Although the number of immigrants in the U.S. is at an all-time high, the immigrant share of the population, now 12.9 percent, was higher in 1910 (14.7 percent) and 1920 (13.2 percent). "

There is nothing alarming or unusual about the number of immigrants today. Currently even illegal immigration is down mainly because economic opportunities are down in the current economic climate, Check out the article below from the Economist from a day earlier:
Quote: "Back in 1993, agents arrested 285,781 people trying to enter America illegally. In those days, the holding cells in the processing centre, explains Scott Hayes, a Border Patrol agent, were full to bursting. In 2010, however, agents picked up only 12,251 illegal immigrants in the area—a 96% decline."
    http://www.economist.com/node/21538750

Most people migrate for better opportunities and this is true for Mexicans or the Europeans who could freely migrate in the last century. Economic downturns happen with or without immigrants and the current global economic downturn affected all countries - even totally white non-immigrant countries like Iceland.

BTW, CA's unemployment rate is 11% (google CA unemployment). It was much lower a few years ago when immigration was just as high if not higher. the high unemployment is due to the global credit crisis caused by Wall Street and ironically it has led to a steep drop in the number of illegals moving to the US (and most likely legal migrants too).

Regarding crimes and so on, bad things happen in any big country. Do you think horrific crimes are never committed by American citizens? I don't see any reason why an illegal immigrant who is already living in fear of deportation would have any more propensity to commit crimes than native born Americans. I recently checked the details of people on death row in some of the states like Texas which have a lot of people on death row. I could not find a single Mexican national on it - which undercuts the argument that illegals are going around committing a disproportionate amount of violent crimes.
In the end, most people (immigrant or native) are good people. Tell me how many times have illegal Mexicans robbed you or hurt you in any way? For me the number is 0 (as it is for every American I know personally).

Quite untrue.. people from countries like India for instance are among the best educated and highest earning households in the US. The statement about immigrants spreading disease is flat out not true.
