Dirty Tricks: All ALIPACers to Colorado asap!

    Friends of ALIPAC,

We regret to inform you that some Democrats in Colorado have pulled a dirty political trick to get the in-state tuition for illegal aliens bill out of committee. That bill is now headed for the Colorado state Senate floor for a vote!

Here are some of the details....
Dirty Tricks! Illegal immigrant tuition passes hurdle in Colo.
    http://www.alipac.us/article-4094-thread-1-0.html

We need ALIPAC supporters from Maine to California to respond immediately to help our brethren on the ground in Colorado. Your efforts worked in Arkansas this week where the mostly Democratic state senate voted this measure down 23-13!

We must stop the Amnesty domino from falling against us in Colorado!

    Steps to take immediately!!

    1. Review the article above and craft your own message that contains the following points.

    2. You object to the underhanded way Senator Chris Romer's SB09-170 was passed through committee at 7:30am this morning before the legislative building was fully open to the public.

    3. In-state tuition for illegal aliens is wrong because it replaces innocent American students in the limited seats in college.

    4. The bill violates a 1996 Federal law which will cost CO millions to defend in court.

    5. The measure will attract more illegal aliens into America and Colorado.

    6. Why train illegal aliens for jobs that it is illegal for them to have, especially at a time when over 11 Million Americans are out of work and American families are struggling to pay for college?

    Sample Message

"I am calling/writing today to ask Senator ________ to oppose and vote against Chris Romer's SB09-170 "in-state tuition for illegal aliens". All Americans should be upset at how this bill was passed out of committee and Romer deserves a public rebuke! In-state tuition was soundly defeated by the Democrat dominated state senate in Arkansas this week 21-13!

This bill would replace innocent American students in the limited seats in college at a time when over 11 million Americans are out of work and their families are struggling to train for new jobs and pay for college. The legislation violates a 1996 Federal law and will result in Colorado paying millions of dollars to defend this in court. Why would you pass a bill that will attract more illegal aliens to Colorado and America and train illegal aliens for jobs it is illegal for them to have.

Many polls show that between 62-81% of American voters reject this legislation and there will be a huge political backlash in the next elections against any lawmaker that supporters SB09-170.

Please stand with the vast majority of your constituents by voting against rewards for illegal aliens and against Chris Romer's underhanded political tricks."

Illegal immigrant tuition passes hurdle in Colo.

DENVER (AP) - A bill allowing illegal immigrants to pay in-state college tuition in Colorado has survived a 5-4 vote in the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Republican committee member Ted Harvey, an opponent of the bill, was absent from Wednesday's vote because of a family emergency. Had he been present, the vote would likely have been 5-5, stalling the bill.

The vote was originally scheduled for Friday, when Harvey was expected to be back, but was moved up to Wednesday.

Republican Sen. Keith King accused Democrats of holding the vote while Harvey was gone to ensure it passed.

Republicans asked for a delay but Sen. Chris Romer called that a "gimmick." Romer said the question before the committee was whether the bill would cost the state money, and Romer said it would not.

Dirty, rotten and low down. It never ceases to amaze me how low they will go.

    Working on it now, W.

The bill to give in-state tuition to illegal immigrants passed the Senate Appropriations committee this morning on a 5-4 vote, when Democrat Senator Moe Keller joined with three Republicans in voting against SB 170. Senator Harvey was absent from the committee hearing this morning because he was out of state assisting his elderly father-in-law with a family issue.

    XXXXXX,
I voted no on this bill in the Appropriations Committee this morning.
Unfortunately, it passed 5-4. Continue to follow it through the process
and make your opinion heard. There are more opportunities for it to
    die.

I received the same email this morning as April did. Yesterday, I received an email from Sen. Ted Harvey of the actions that were about to occur early this morning in his absence. I posted it on the board, but the vote took place at 7:30 this morning. This is an outrage!! I am on the phone and back to my usual emailing.
