From Ted Harvey: Thank you for writing about Senate Bill 170, Senator Romer's proposal to give in-state tuition to illegal immigrants.
In spite of the Democrats' unconscionable tactics, I am hopeful that they will recognize the illegality of this bill and kill it before Governor Ritter has a chance to sign it as he has promised.
The public response against this bill has been overwhelming - I hope this widespread public opposition is indicative of wavering Democrat support. One Democrat Senator, Moe Keller, already voted against SB 170 in committee in spite of strong pressure from her fellow Democrats and liberal special interest groups.
SB 170 has been scheduled for a Senate floor debate tomorrow morning. The Senate will convene at 9:00 am, and SB 170 is the 5th bill on the calendar. It is not uncommon for controversial bills to be laid over for several days, so the real debate may not occur until next week.
The Senate will not hear public testimony, but you may listen in person on the 3rd floor of the Senate chambers or online at:
http://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2 ... o?OpenForm
I'll keep you updated of any further developments.
Sincerely,
Ted Harvey
State Senator, Douglas County

Colorado's SB170
I also received this lengthy reply from Senator Jennifer Veiga.
It seems that she is adamant on having this bill pasted. And, very excited that 5 or 6 other states are doing the same.
It looks like AMNESTY FOR AN ADDITIONAL 15 OR 20 MILLION ILLEGALS.
This must be something we should be accustomed to doing every 20 years or so.
Is there another Alamo in the works?
Living through and knowing what my parents had to go through to come to this country is something I cherish but, to see that this country has resolved itself to an "Open Door Policy" is an arrogant and a down right disregard to what the good citizens of this country really want.
I emailed my concern yesterday 4/2 to everyone on Alipac's list and only received this reply from Jennifer Veiga.
I truly believe it is time for us to do more to turn our country around and revive our great Constitution before it's to late.

Sorry that I cannot call but hopefully others will.
Recieved another response and we are urged to continue to make noise.
Dear ____
You wrote about SB 170, the bill allowing in-state tuition to illegal immigrants. You may know that I have been a very vocal opponent to this and had the opportunity to vote against it in the appropriations committee fiasco perpetrated by the majority party.
Please know that I hear you, and trust me, my colleagues hear you. Keep it up, and know that I will continue to fight. I will be visiting with Peter Boyles about this tomorrow morning on KHOW AM 630, at 6:00 AM if you would like to hear more.
To learn more about all that is going on, use the following links:
Audio to the senate appropriations committee hearing where Sen. Romer and I debated the legality of the bill.
A link to the CO Attorney General's 2006 formal opinion on whether the state can offer in-state tuition to illegal immigrants.
My description of the bill on my blog.
Again, thanks so much for letting your voice be heard. Please keep making noise. It's the only way we can hope to defeat it.
Mike

Democrat Jim Isgar is opposed to the bill.
When I call I remind them that in-state tuition in CA has given CA a giant budget deficit, the highest taxes in the country, and very high unemployment. If they think high taxes and high unemployment will get them re-elected go ahead and vote for SB 170.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
