Calls have been and will be made. Senator Lamar Alexander of Tennessee says that he will vote to confirm Sotomayor. La Raza will be looking favorable on him for this vote, just as they did when he voted for SCHIP.

Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee seems to be leaning to NO on the Sotomayor confirmation.

It cannot hurt to make calls to oppose the "yes" votes of these Senators that appear to have made up their minds.

Sen. Lamar Alexander, a Tennessean who chairs the Republican Senate Conference, announced this morning that he will vote for President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, when she comes up for confirmation next week.

Alexander,(snip) is the third-ranking Republican in the Senate leadership. He says he will back Sotomayor even though he believes her judicial and political philosophy is different from his.

"Courts were never intended to be political bodies composed of judges 'on your side' who would reliably tilt your way in controversial cases," he said in a speech this morning on the Senate floor. "Courts are supposed to do just the opposite: decide difficult cases with impartiality."

Alexander's announcement came hours after his Tennessee colleague, Republican Sen. Bob Corker, announced that he won't be backing Sotomayor. "I believe Judge Sotomayor views the Supreme Court as more of a policy-making body where laws are shaped based on the personal views of the justices," Corker said in a statement released by his office late Wednesday.

    Called Senators Again

I called again this morning to ask Sens. Grassley and Harkin to seek a delay of the vote. I called one of their locals offices as well as their D.C. office.

Watchig Fox, looks like Dems have been pushing to vote now, and according to Fox, they predict approval and appointment.......

Of course Oregons two senators are Dems and heavily liberal ones at that.

    STILL LISTED AS "UNCOMMITTED":

Two Democratic Senators are still listed as "Uncommitted" on C-Span screen of Sotomayor hearings! They are:

    1. Robert Byrd (D-WV)
    Wash. 'phone: (202) 224-3954
    FAX: (202) 228-0002

    2. Mark Begich (D-AK)
    Wash. 'phone: (202) 224-3004

Made calls and emails. The very best we can do now is to pray and wait, while yet calling and making these people know we are not taking it sitting down.
