So what do we do? It seems like the only outlet now is to write our frustrations online.
And if McCain becomes president even that will probably no longer be allowed.

    Welcome Feck!

I was born and raised in San Diego, California...but recently escaped to the Midwest.

The word is shut up, let it happen, you had your glory days as an American, go to the end of the line now.
I don't think I've ever read my feelings expressed so clearly before. This is EXACTLY how I feel Americans are being treated.
Calderon was absolutely right when he said...."Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico".

I agree. I think we need a 200 million man march. That's what it would take to show these panderers. They broadcast 500,000 mexicans on tv, how could they ignore us if we gathered like that?

We would get 2 seconds at the end of the broadcast with a line something like this:

A handful of extremists marched on the White house today.........

    Welcome FECK!!!

You are so right ON EVERYTHING...I understand the frustration in your post, I've been in the same boat since the Attacks of 9/11.
When you stated "time to take action"...My thought went straight to the Mexican Protests of 06.
How many Americans do you think would be arrested for doing the same thing?
ACTIONS do SPEAK LOUDER than WORDS...
Maybe we should start making CITIZEN ARRESTS? Start with some corrupt Politicians!

What a warm welcome, thank you!

I've pondered for a long time the cause of my loss of faith in the U.S, (the government, not the people), and I've come to the conclusion that this is a direct result of the evils money brings about.

There is a documentary called "The Corporation" that I highly recommend. I'm sure we all have our ideas on what a corporation is--a company that does business, right? Yes, but it stems from a much more sophisticated concept. A corporation is an legal entity, just like you and me, who can own property and has rights under the law. It's only purpose is to usurp more and more in the way of property and funds. It has no benevolent purpose, no moral compass, no interest in ecology or saving the planet.

Corporations operate under the concept that everything, EVERYTHING is a commodity that can be owned, bought, and sold. Even things that we, as moral people, think should belong to all of us, like clean water, food, and shelter; the things that are basic human rights. If air could be packaged, you can bet we'd be paying some big firm for every breath we take.

(Now don't get unsettled, I'm not a communist in the least, and that's not what I'm getting at.)

But what happens when corporations become international? They no longer have to heed by any law, and we are seeing this at an alarming rate. For instance, if corporation X doesn't want to have to go through the expense of fitting their plants with costly pollution control devices as deemed by the US government, they simply move the plant to China, where they can pollute all they want.

And have you noticed how in the past twenty five years, corporations have taken over every aspect in many towns? Family owned restaurants now have to compete with Chilis and Outback and Fridays, etc. Small music stores have to compete with Guitar Center. Small office supply and bookstores have to compete with Staples and Office Depot and Barnes and Nobles. The little guy is getting squeezed out. Our landscape is littered now with ugly big box stores, and it's only getting worse.

Again, these are faceless entities that have rights under US law just like you and me, and more. They ARE their own law.

And now so powerful, these corporations can dig deep and dictate their own policies. An example in the documentary was how a German international company bought the water rights for an entire country in South America (forgive me as I've forgotten which one). They owned the water treatment plants and delivery infrastructure, but not only that, their ownership extended to any collected rainwater or river water. It ended up that the people of the country revolted, and took back the infrastructure by force, and ran it themselves. (Again, I'm not a communist or socialist.)

My point is, what do you do when there are entities out there that are, for lack of a better word, superhuman? And their only goal is to take as much as they can.

That is what we are up against. The government is hapless in lots of ways. It can only do so much in its own jurisdiction.

Now I am all for private ownership, heck I own property myself. But I support the right for INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE to own property, not the faceless entity called the corporation. There is a huge difference, and as all of us can well see, corporations are out of control.

In my opinion, that is a huge part of the fight, and I've been blind for so long.

    Part II

The reason I believe the above soliloquy is relevant is that we are in a situation where citizen control of the US government is literally gone. Sure, we have our rights, but we share them with these corporate entities that aren't even human, or physical, or alive.

They have much more power and resources to do their bidding while we have a single vote. Period.

and have you noticed how many more corporations there are in the last twenty five years? When I was growing up, you had IBM, the automakers, maybe some restaurants like McDonalds, etc. But now they are everywhere, regulating EVERYTHING.

If you have health insurance, you have a corporation dictating to you YOUR OWN HEALTH AGENDA, and its all based on their own profitability.

My point is that people should come first. If a man becomes a billionaire selling some product, hey, that's great! But let us deal with the man, not some pseudo-entity that has no face, no conscience, no moral compass.

When you give the wealth its own power, it corrupts in devastating ways.

And I believe we are seeing that on a large scale basis.

    Hi Feck:

Welcome!! Your first post was fantastic, and I could not have said it better myself.

I think that most of us here are hoping that the elections will be the light at the end of the tunnel in regard to stopping this illegal invasion, and Mexico's interference in our country/laws.

Currently, we are making some progress-----with the new laws against illegals that were passed in Oklahoma and Arizona.

Besides the fact that Bush is letting our country be destroyed by not stopping the illegal invasion and closing/securing our borders-------he is also letting it be destroyed through unfair trade practices with China. He is currently letting China screw us royally in regard to trade through currency manipulation, tariff manipulation, etc.

    aww feck,

(I have been dying to say that )

I agree with most of what you say. the only thing i have issue with is this:

Now I am all for private ownership, heck I own property myself. But I support the right for INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE to own property, not the faceless entity called the corporation. There is a huge difference, and as all of us can well see, corporations are out of control.
None of us "own" our own property, we lease it from the government. Instead of rent payments, they prefer the phrase property taxes. If you don't pay up, you get kicked out. Many other countries do not tax the property people own. They are the ones with the better economies. some examples are listed below:

Hong kong: Only property tax is on income made for rental properties, no rent, no tax.

    UK: no property taxes

    Ireland: No property taxes

    Iran: no property taxes

    china: no property taxes

basically, I hate to break this to all of you, but we are all renters.

The above is simply a statement of fact and has no bearing on my personal beliefs as to whether or not the US should have a tax system.
