They have US in a stew pot with so many issues that are all interconnected to destroy our nation that we have to unravel the whole mess. Yes, we must demand American Jobs for American Workers but we must also demand the means and mechanisms to achieve it, because if we don't, they'll just create government jobs and turn US into a socialist police welfare-based economy.
And one group we must reach which has ironically been one of the driving forces for both illegal immigration and free trade combined are US farmers. Until US farmers understand that when they hire an illegal alien to pick their fruit, they paved the way for chicken processors to illegal aliens to pluck their chickens just as when they clamor for free trade to export another bushel of soybeans, they just paved the way for General Motors to import 2 million cars from Brazil with the bananas.
AMERICAN JOBS FOR AMERICAN WORKERS!
1. stop illegal immigration
2. pass the FairTax
3. protect our trade
4. legalize/regulate/tax under 2 the illegal drug trade
5. drill baby drill

About the drilling
I cannot agree with you about the drilling. Why emotionally it might have some benefits, realistically, we don't have enough reserves to make a sustained difference.
What we should be working for is total energy independence. That means green technology and nuclear technology.
Our leaders of both parties should get behind a program to reach that goal within 10 years., like the quest to land on the moon. One thing we do still have as a nation is a wild, inventive spirit. It should be challenged (and research funded) to ensure it happens.
Then we can tell those in the Arab world that are holding us hostage to take a flying leap. As long as the oil and gas special linterests rule in America, we are tied to their apron strings.Take a stand or all there will be left to do is to ask the last person in the country we once called America to lower the flag one last time.

We also need to de-regulate the utilities industry and force competition within these state and territory-protected markets. I lived in Pennsylvania when Pennsylvania deregulated, and utility prices fell by 30 to 50% with no reduction in service benefits. Now I live in North Carolina who was about to deregulate a few years ago but after 9/11 decided they wanted to keep control, for no valid reason and our utility costs are 2 and 3 x what they are in deregulated states. And my utility and 97 others are municipal owned utilities, owned by city and state governments. Anyone who thinks the government can do anything better than the private sector, needs to live under the control of one to learn otherwise. My electric bill for part of December and January, 36 days, when I was away for 3 weeks of that period for the holidays with temperature settings at 65% on the ground floor and 60% on the second floor was $954 in NORTH CAROLINA, 2 times the highest bill in the history of my 10 year residence in this structure, and no one was home using anything except heat for the pets. Try arguing that bill which of course is a total fraud with a police state. I can't wait until an alternative solar and/or wind turbine system is available to get off this utility and operate self-sufficiently. I'm also looking forward to test-driving the Chevy Volt.

How much they cost a year
Informative, and mind boggling!
You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this:
Boy, was I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS.
I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them. I also have included the URL's for verification of all the following facts...

The total cost is a whopping $ 338.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR AND IF YOU'RE LIKE ME HAVING TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY; IT IS $338,300,000,000.00 WHICH WOULD BE ENOUGH TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY FOR THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY.
Are we THAT stupid? YES, FOR LETTING THOSE IN THE U.S.CONGRESS GET AWAY WITH LETTING THIS HAPPEN YEAR AFTER YEAR!!!!!Last edited by Jean; 08-24-2013 at 11:09 PM.

Your post
US Patriot,
Sorry, but I don't know how to do that insert quote thing.
Actually, big oil is already working hard on obtaining oil from algae, as are many other groups around the world. I rather think it is just a question of big oil wanting to make sure it controls any new energy source, and that is why there is not a big government push for alternative energy research.
It just does not make sense that solar is not used more, given the number of states that could do so with their climate. However, here in CA, it is starting to take off, what a major manufacturing factory for solar panels being set up. The technology is improving by leaps and bounds according to our technical press. Prices are also starting to drop as demand grows.
Obama and the Dems lost a great opportunity to upgrade our national infrasture, like Eisenhower did with the interstate system. Instead of a give away to the banks, they should have pumped that money into an energy independance program.
But hey, Obama was a big recipient of campaign donations from banks... so... well we all know the story.Take a stand or all there will be left to do is to ask the last person in the country we once called America to lower the flag one last time.

Hi Judy,
Sorry but I do not know how to insert a quote.
I cannot help but think that American's greatness has long resided in our ability to innovate. Reliance on oil, that is not a renewable resource, and will run out, is stiffling that innovation.
Did you know that France and Canada are both imposing a requirement that 10% of fuel sold be biodiesel? Those countries are going to leap forward in alternate fuel technology and America will be left behind. Of course, more people in these countries already drive cars that are outfitted with diesel engines, so a switch can occur.
The scary part is that it is technology that creates wealth in a society. The most technologically advanced societies have the greastest economies. We are slipping fast.Take a stand or all there will be left to do is to ask the last person in the country we once called America to lower the flag one last time.

WELCOME TO ALIPAC, Sharen!! Thank you also for that informative post. I've seen it before but it never hurts to repost and repost and report the truth about illegal immigration over and over again.
