Close the door to all immigration.

Close the door to all immigration.

It done not matter if it take immigrants 20 years to get into this country legally. The excuse that they come in illegally, because it takes too long to come in legally is no excuse for them to break our laws and then demand that we let them remain here. We make laws for this nation and we enforce them.

With the population that we now have I believe our doors to all immigration should be closed.

We do not have the resources to absorb the people we have and future births. Every where you go that are longer lines than ever and longer waits to get any service and that is because of the population increase.

We are in big trouble with the present population. Poverty is growing at a rate we cannot deal with. If ever there is another amnesty, it will destroy this country even faster.

Whether global warming is man cause or not is not an issue, the fact is that if there is a climate change in any direction it will change our food growing pattern. It will only take either a shortage of food or water and we will see a disaster of unbelievable proportion.

In this county, population growth is a disaster waiting to happen.

Right on! The highways are breaking down because of all the traffic. Our fuel prices are up because supposably we have a higher consumptions. Our insurance has gone up because of the millions uninsured illegals. Our school systems are falling apart at the seams beacuse of all the illegals children. Our prisons and jails are overflowing with illegal criminals. Our healthcare what is left of it is taxed. Our welfare system is costing us a fortune. Our hospitals are closing from all the free healthcare they have to give to illegals. Our food and housing are in a crisis. All of this is because of the 10's of millions of illegals although none of the politicians want to admit it or not. Tell me honestly YOU THINK? It might have something to do with millions of illegals comming in the course of a few years creating a influx in our population almost immediately? That our country wasn't and still isn't prepared for?

    AMEN!!!!!!!!
Never look at another flag. Remember, that behind Government, there is your country, and that you belong to her as you do belong to your own mother. Stand by her as you would stand by your own mother

Anyone who says this can expect to be insulted by the OBL crowd, but many thinkers and scholars from a variety of viewpoints favor limiting immigration. Right now, the lion's share of our population growth is from immigration, not births. Third world people claim that our country is practically empty and has plenty of room for whoever among them who wants to come here, but that is only from their perspective. Those of us who've lived decades of our adult lives here have seen the sprawl, crowding, gridlock, stress, competition, and damage from population growth. The right of America's stakeholders to exercise the right of a sovereign nation by determining the terms and conditions of immigration is under attack as never before. It is important to remember that many of our opponents are not rational: many are deeply attached to a personal gain from immigration that causes them to see it as an unmitigated good and to demonize anyone who takes a different point of view.

I work at a university and was leaving work one afternoon. I walked past a large sports field where various groups of students were enjoying the outdoors. I mentally multiplied by 4 (India alone outnumbers us by 3-4 to 1) and the picture was most unpleasant. Are there people who would impose this upon all of us in order to get their job, their position, their lifestyle the way they want it? You bet there are.

In the last two or three years in Washington, DC, I have noticed a huge explosion of people from India, along with Hispanics. They are usually younger couples, pushing a little baby in a stroller and the woman is usually pregnant. A lot of times, I have also seen younger couples (with their babies), together with an older couple which appears to be parents of the younger couple. When I go out to lunch, I feel like I am not in the US, but in a foreign country. As I pass people on the streets, I never hear English, it is always a foreign language.

“This country was built by immigrants, it will continue to attract and need immigrants. Some people think there are enough people here now and we don't need more. There have been people saying that since the 1700s and it is still not true. We need immigrants here and we need them to be successful in order to make this country safe and strong and a world leader. We also must help them to become Americans and not just people who live here and think of themselves as visitors.â€

The Indians are a special case, as most of them came here on a temporary guestworker visa, the H-1B, hoping to use it as a springboard to immigrate. They are the ones who visit us here occasionally to argue about the tremendous contribution they are making to America and how we should be grateful they are here and open the doors wider to them. The truth is more complex.

They are the ones living in a communal denialfest over on Immigration Voice. One young smart aleck insists on YouTube that there have been NO job losses suffered by Americans as a result of him and his homies' arrival. I wonder what happy weed they are smoking, as many of them seem to sincerely believe that there was a genuine shortage of talent and that America would be lost without them, because we have nobody who could do their jobs. In fact, literally hundreds of thousands of us were being laid off even as they were being brought in (the highest labor importation years: 2000-03) and many of us used to do exactly the same jobs they are now doing. During our years on the job, our companies were profitable and growing, but that didn't save us from the siren call of cheaper labor. But many of them simply don't see this: even Azim Premji (head of Wipro, one of the bodyshops who gobbles the visa cap every year) goes around claiming that the only Americans who lose their jobs to foreign labor were the ones in line to be fired anyway.

And then there are those who know perfectly well the dirty tricks that are being played, don't care as long as they get an American job, and even gloat about 'the global Indian takeover' (a subject subheading actually seen on Economic Times).

It's not just IT; they've pretty much cornered the traveller's hospitality industry. At least I don't hear anyone arguing that Americans don't have the know-how to run motels. They organize and lobby our elected officials so intensely that we have a lot of catching up to do. They pretty much own Edison, NJ, and several other areas. They keep harping on the alleged contribution they are making by holding these highly skilled jobs and paying all these taxes (on their high salaries, boo hoo), but they never factor in the cost to our society of the displacement of American breadwinners, the lowering of wages, the truncation of American careers, and the discouragment of American students away from entire strategic fields of study.

They will also argue that they are legal immigrants and that makes it ok. First, that's not always true: there is a lot of visa fraud and overstaying. Also, the use of H-1Bs in many cases violates the spirit of the law: they were not supposed to be used to replace Americans, merely as a short-term supplement to our labor force. Third, many of the companies that sponsor them push the envelope where the law is concerned. Restrictions on the L-1 visa were enacted a few years back when it was found that these companies were abusing the definition of 'specialized knowledge' in order to bring larger numbers of their people in to unseat Americans. Too bad they didn't tighten the H-1B while they were at it. Even Harris Miller, former head of the ITAA and Kiran Karnik's towel boy, warned the Indian complanies not to do this, but they went ahead anyway.

Right now many of the H-1Bs who came here hoping to immigrate are in a pickle due to green card backlogs, but that is the chance they took. The law is what it was back when they bought their American lotto ticket to come here. I can't tell you how many times I've been called names when I point this out. They will insist that because it is ok to want to immigrate while you are on an H-1B, then that makes it an immigration visa. No it doesn't.

    Dear American Employer,

What do you want me to do? Just die?

Unless we enforce laws against illegal aliens today,
tomorrow WE may wake up as illegals.

Close the door to all immigration.
This was my mantra on September 12, 2001 and it continues to be thus today. Immigration must be controlled. I would like to see a total suspension until we get our act together, take stock of where we are in relation to our projected resources, and devise a way to allow immigration in an orderly and enforced manner.

I agree with all the points made in the above posts, and I add one more than is intangible: It just doesn't feel like America anymore. I am willing to share our bounty with those who come in good will and obey our laws, but I am not willing to give away our heritage, our traditions, our culture. Morevoer I am not willing to have it stolen from my descendants.

I believe there is one postive aspect of this nightmare. I don't think our government will ever again be able to do things in the dark of night while Americans are not watching. I predict that our children and grandchildren will hold them to their oath of office and vote them out swiftly and surely if it is violated. And that is a good thing.
