La Raza reacts to Dobbs' leaving
info@wecanstopthehate.org
Dear XXXXX:
Thank you for everything you have done to ensure that the Drop Dobbs campaign was a success! Lou Dobbs's resignation from CNN is an important step forward in restoring greater fairness, accuracy, and balance on CNN and cable news. It came after thousands of people and organizations pressured CNN to end Dobbs's biased coverage of our community and the immigration debate. For years, NCLR has raised concerns with CNN about the gross distortions, misrepresentations, and falsehoods that Dobbs's program has perpetuated in describing the impact of immigrants on American society. I partnered with CNN to address the levels of diversity before and behind the camera, in hopes of effecting real change at the network. I even appeared on Dobbs's show to ask him to curtail his bias and distance himself from the vigilantes and nativists he featured. But most recently, realizing that we needed to take a more visible role, we joined the Drop Dobbs campaign and began to educate advertisers about the impact his rhetoric has had on the Latino community.
As someone who has gone head to head with Dobbs, I must say that although this has never been personal, this is an important substantive matter to the entire Latino community and we welcome Dobbs's departure from CNN. We hope that his resignation will begin to undo the climate of intolerance fostered on his show, restore journalistic integrity to the CNN brand, and bring civility and truth back to the immigration debate. Yet there remain others who still give voice to extreme and polarizing rhetoric on cable network news and talk radio, so our campaign to take hate out of the immigration debate will continue. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with you—with your passion, your vision, and your support. Let us not think this is the end, for it is not. Let us celebrate our victory, but let us be clear, there is still much left for us to do. Thank you again for everything that you have done and will continue to do.
Sincerely,
Janet MurguĂ*a
President and CEO

Murguia's appearance on Dobbs was perhaps the most biased thing I have seen. The woman was a motor mouth, rude and Dobbs nearly had to scream over her to be able to ask a question. That was her first and last appearance.
As far as fair and balanced, you had the chance to come on a program that featured a counterpoint of your views as the mainstay. You had a chance and you blew it!Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

The only hate and distortion of the truth comes right out of Janet's mouth. She is the top racist in LaRaza. If she thinks she's won a victory, wait until CNN's ratings really tank from losing the only journalist who dared to tell the truth about illegal immigratiuon.

I haven't watched CNN for even 5 minutes since Lou left!
The two young reporters that went undercover with Acorn said that Acorn was NOT the only group they went undercover with. I hope they got something on LA RAZA...
although, they don't seem to be doing much about Acorn. Why are they STILL operating and doing business?!Please help save America for our children and grandchildren... they are counting on us. THEY DESERVE the goodness of AMERICA not to be given to those who are stealing our children's future! ... and a congress who works for THEM!

There was nothing about Lou's show that portrayed 'hate.' The discussions he had with Janet, that I watched, he was polite and respectful.
As far as I know we still have the First Amendment. Some would like to silence those who just want our immigration laws enforced. It's our federal government that has allowed this mess to escalate.
Lou leaving CNN will probably be good for everyone. He is not going away Janet. Look forward to whatever road he is going to take soon. She may be sorry what she asked for.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at https://eepurl.com/cktGTn

If Dobbs was misstating the facts AT ALL, I am glad he is gone. As a reporter, he needed to be as transparent as possible without misleading the public. That's why we have politicians.
