I am interested in finding a nice and trustworthy person who would like to make a little extra cash for cleaning my house on a regular basis. We currently have a wonderful person for this position but she is going back to her country next week... And will be greatly missed. This would be a good opportunity for someone who does not have a car as I am a 5-10 minute walk from the Wollaston T station (Red Line) in Quincy. I am flexible about the schedule – As long as you stick to the schedule that you choose. The schedule I would prefer: Fridays 9am to 1pm OR Wednesdays 9am to 1pm. The tasks may be different each time you come but will all be cleaning-related. I will provide all supplies but if there is something specific you would like to use, I may be willing to buy it and have it here for you to use so you will be comfortable. I do not speak Spanish but I am willing to be patient with someone who speaks Spanish and not much English (I have a friend who can translate for us if we get stuck on communicating). I also understand that those who are looking to get a Green Card in the future need a certain employment structure and I will help you any way that I can (meaning, if you want me to pay you through the tax system, I will). We are not a rich family but I want to be able to pay you fairly for the skills, experience and hard work that you will do. Right now, I am offering at least $5/hr for a guaranteed four hours of work once a week. We have two children (infant and 2 years old) and have also recently started a construction company...so I am just finding it difficult to get to the household cleaning the way I would like. I am avoiding professional cleaning companies because I feel that they just come in a tear around the house – I need someone with attention to detail and will follow instructions. If you are interested in speaking with me, please give me a call or email me. Thank you very much.

I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I assume this is in Massachusetts from the information in the ad. That's mighty generous of the person to offer $5 per hour when the state minimum is $6.75 per hour. Sounds like they are looking for a slave more than a housecleaner.

Is that her email at the top of the ad? If so, I think we should all email her and tell her what a great American we think she is.

Better yet, go to the white pages, get the address for the phone number and send her some flyers reminding her it's illegal to hire illegals and maybe even pencil in a line about the fact that she has to pay social security for her workers and give them at least minumum wage!

I just called the number and got the answering machine for ANN POss
Carpentry- I hope this was the correct number for the ad- as I left a message that it was against the law to hire illegals - at slave wages and that she was being reported to the Federal Governement.

Well, I don't see any problems with the ad.
Ok, most of you know that i've said many times over that I want illegal aliens to be deported and that companies that hire them should be fined for that. But I was referring to illegal aliens that work full time somewhere.
I hate big companies making money by replacing Americans for illegal aliens.

But I don't see a problem in this case or with day laborers at all when they do work for Americans privately and not for a huge company.
I mean, the person that placed the ad might be a person with not that much money so why shouldn't see look for a cheap employee ?

As most know too is that I will return to the US. Flight ticket is already booked and flight set for May 2nd. I've a lot of stuff to do with moving from holland back to the US. When I can find a day laborer who is willing to help me moving my stuff from the airport to my new home in California, and with carrying furniture when I buy it in California, why shouldn't I hire him ? It saves me a lot of money instead of hiring a expensive removal company. i'm just hiring 1 or 2 illegal aliens and not thousands like Home Depot. I mean, that's a huge difference.

I can rent a truck of course, but I just mean with carrying - loading and unloading the furniture. And I probably only hire them for one day and not full time for years like Home Depot is doing.

Come on, have you never used an unregular cab driver ?
When I go to my family in NYC and they're not able to pick me up at JFK and I have to wait in line for hours to get a yellow cab and can avoid it by taking a cab that walks up to me and is willing to take me to East Broadway, why shouldn't I use his service ?
Should I wait in line ?
Should I pay much money ?

I bet there're more people on this forum too that have ever used an 'illegal 'cab driver. It happens here in Amsterdam all the time.

Well I DO see a problem with hiring people for cheap wages. Isn't that akin to enslaving them? they the people who want to clean houses get legal status then go to work for Merry Maids or something. Encouraging them by giving the illegal jobs on the sly just compounds the problem and gives us TWO criminals to contend with.

If you can't afford to hire a moving company or get your friends to help you, then sell your stuff and don't send it back. That is what I'd do. We had our stuff sent back from overseas, too. By a legitimate moving company that hires legal workers (At least I hope they do!)

If you feel the need to hire illegal aliens who aren't authorized to work in this country, I hope you all get arrested collectively.
