But those day labor centers where the illegals stand out to get hired don't make them legal workers. Don't you get it? Illegal is illegal. The people who go get them and hire them are doing something illegal. Just because it is common practice doesn't make it any less illegal.

well, there's a difference between a criminal offence and a vilation. yuo will be arrested for a criminal offence, but not for a violation of for example for 'speeding' so it's not true that anyone that violates any law will get arrested.

OK-- you got me on that one. But if we get our way, it will be a felony to live in this country illegally and that means arrest.

you're 100% right. It's illegal though it's commen practise. But the feeling is that if THE CITY COUNCIL allows it to happen, even sets up establishments for it, that most people will think it's legal ! that's the problem. most people that pick day laborers up at designated areas actually think they're doing something legal. so you can blame me if I hire an illegal as I know it's illegal, but you cazn't blame other persons as they don't know it and think it's a legal place to pick op workers.

Ok, but here's a difference. People generally know that it's not allowed to drive to fast or some other traffic regulations. but most people don't know it's illegal to pick up workers at areas that was even set up by their city council. that's a huge difference.

Yes I can blame other people. If they are employers in this country, they get all the information about hiring illegals right along with their tax ID number. If they are just plain citizens looking for someone to do their dirty work that they are too cheap to hire a legal contractor to do, there is this little thing called "Ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law." If the cops were to say, "Gee, Joe Schmoe, you didn't know this so we are going to let you go free, what would that do to our police? Nobody would ever be arrested or convicted no matter what they do.

Yes, you're right on this. But people copy from their leaders. If the leaders don't obey the law they wonder why they should. and ignorance is no excuse to break the law, you're right. but it's also impossible to know all the laws too. It's a very difficult issue. when I watched those clips from workplace wacthdog site, I honestly think that most people didn't know as they said it too that they thought it was legal as it was set up by Glendale city council.

Thelma you rock!!!! Awesome investigating. How do you send in the info to wehireillegals?

I just don't get how one can allow someone who is in this country illegally to be in your home looking through your things. Even worse, caring for your children. How would you do a background check on them? What's to stop them from stealing your stuff or even your kids if they get mad at you for some reason. They could just run back to Mexico scott free. People are just stupid.

also- five dollars an hour for 'DAY WORK" is what was paid in the mid - 1970's in the united states.
