    Explorer vs Firefox

I have been noticing how many times Explorer shuts down my internet connection when I go to alipac or to conservative radio or writing columns (like MIchelle Malkin's articles on Townhall.com. That does not happen with Firefox. It does give me that unsettling feeling that I am being "watched." It's not just YouTube. It's all conservative sites. Have you had that experience as well? Hope it is not just ME.

I only use Firefox also and rarely have a problem with any website I go to. I was always having problems with Explorer and now I never use it.

I won't use IE anymore as I have had issues similar to those described by you DJ... I have the "sneaky suspicion" that IE is a government-monitored web tool...

Thanks everyone. It's nice to know that I'm not losing my mind here! Generally I use Explorer for regular email and to access my university sits (because I teach classes online). I then open Firefox and use it only for conservative sites I want to check on. As long as I do it that way, all is well. It really is a strange thing to experience a sudden loss of connection when you are reading a conservative writer's column!

I've noted no problems that can be linked specifically to my use of IE.

I don't have any problems with IE, I think it's version8 now. I did have issues with IE7 until I stopped bein' lazy, and did a defrag, complete defrag, by turning off the virtual memory so the whole hard drive would get defragged. I then turned virtual memory on, but I set it for a specific size. For those who are unsure, figure out how much RAM you have, if it is less than 2 gigs, then multiply what you have by 2.5 and set it for that ammount. Anything over 2 gigs, I just set set it for 3 gigs and it works like a dream. That way the same area gets used over and over for virtual memory, instead of the whole drive. That reduces the frequency of needing to defrag, and it does add a slight performance increase.

Also, it is good to make sure to keep your drivers up to date. Just create a restore point before loading up the new ones incase they are skewed, or cause odd things to happen that are undisireable.
