Congress is fighting back against Obama's power grab to overrule the immigration laws set by Congress and establish his own immigration policy of, essentially an 'amnesty by fiat' by way of refusing to enforce the immigration laws established by Congress. The 'amnesty by fiat' is of course opposed by border patrol agents, apolitical civil servants who just want to enforce the laws passed by Congress.

Lamar Smith, Chairman of the House Judiciary committe, has introduced the 'HALT act' to put a halt to Obama's amnesty by fiat. The bill has 22 cosponsers, most from states hard hit by illegal immigration such as California, Texas, Florida, and North Carolina.

Senator David Vitter plans to introduce a matching bill in the Senate.
