    "Hispanic Heritage Bouquet"

While grocery shopping last night, we saw some nice cut flowers for the table for today's Sunday dinner. On occasion, we'll pick one up if it's the $3.99 ones. As we looked at the sign below for the price, we became LIVID! What in the heck is a "Hispanic Heritage Bouguet?" We've got a good knowledge of plants and gardening around our house. But we were SO ANGRY at that BLATANT IN YOUR FACE MESS that we only took the time to recognize that a few of the cut flowers were Gerbera daisies.

The theme was red and yellow. Yes, a lovely bouquet but stinky as heck when we saw what it was named.

    And pricey too! $9.99
    ----------------------------------
After posting the above, I decided to see if I could find out anything about "Hispanic Heritage" and discovered there is a "Hispanic Heritage Month." Those flowers are a little early, wouldn't you say?

    From http://www.factmonster.com/spot/hhm1.html

Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15, the anniversary of independence for five Latin American countries—Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico declared its independence on September 16, and Chile on September 18.

Ya seems everybody has a month to celebrate something that doesn't have anything to do with simply just being an American. If everybody celebrated every holiday from every nation....every relegion and every special interest group....we'd be one long party.

I'm afraid we all are going to have to get used to it...they have 5 children per family we only have one. Their history will trump ours in two generations...nobody's going to want to learn about our history.

You will hear the kids say, "DAAAADDD c'mon! We don't want to hear about those racist guys named Washington or Jefferson...we learned yesterday at Pancho Villa High School that those guys owned slaves."

You've got that right! And there's an abundance of red, white and blue flowers that can be gathered up complete with patriotic red, white and blue ribbons and American flags. My uncle's daughter put red, white and blue silk flowers on his grave in the urn because he's a WWII vet. He died in the month of October but the red, white and blue stays all year. He was very proud of his service and was a POW until the war's end. I'm glad he was spared seeing this invasion. It would have really angered and saddened him.

Just think of all the days off from work, though.

    VaMinuteMan,

I'll never get used to it and none of us will. It's an insult, an affront. It's an outrage and a sacrilege to our country!

Our country, its culture and values are sacred! It IS a sacrilege what is happening as these blatant invaders keep pushing their culture in our face trying to trump their "culture" over ours.

Reminds of the recent thread where the Hispanic teen was upset that other teens didn't want to attend her school's Sink fulla Mayo celebration. She was whining because she wanted to "share her culture."

    http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=sacrilege

    sac·ri·lege n.
Desecration, profanation, misuse, or theft of something sacred.

You should have turned them upside down
    To signal what they were!
Where were the Red White and Blue Boquets?

I'm sure the beer manufacturers are happy about the month long excuse.
We are NOT a nation of immigrants!
