I work at a "big box store' (GUESS WHICH ONE) and we had our annual Shop With a Cop event where police officers sponsor a child, for Christmas and buy gifts for the child and their families. Guess What!!!! The customer service area was packed this morning with people bringing back the donations they received the day before, and walking away with cash!

My church has the congregation give them names of people in need. Then people from my church deliver what it is we are helping with to their homes.

I found the best way to deal with illegals and their lying ways is to be super strict with deadlines and such. You can not be nice and give them a second chance no matter what their excuse is because they always have an excuse for not doing what they are supposed to do. The excuses and lying never ends with these people.

I REFUSE to donate anymore to things in our area, because I know darn well WHO will be getting it all. Forget it -- I "give" already w/ my taxes.

Funny -- I used to hear the same thing from my socialist friends in Germany when we lived there. Giving and donations are very low in Europe due to socialism. Getting the same way here.

I just got back from the mall here in N. Virginia and it was ridiculous. these illegals were out in full force buying up the stores ...I have NO idea where they get their money, but they are out on shopping sprees w/ bags galore and dressed to the NINES. The muslim were out also ... taking advantage of all the "Christmas" sales. Quite ironic, I feel.

Or park your truck were it can be seen with a magnetic sign on my tail gate saying US BORDER PATROL.
They'll just turn around and head back out.

Woman Arrested After Returning Kids' Donated Gifts For Cash

Topics: Amanda J. Beard, returned presents, arrest, Meade County

Meade County Sheriff's deputy Bryan Rogers said he truly felt the spirit of Christmas following the annual Fraternal Order of Police "Shop With A Cop" event on Dec, 11.

Rogers helped four kids find toys and warm winter clothes during the event.

That feeling turned sour after Rogers discovered the kids' mother returned the gifts for cash.

Rogers said that he was both angry that an adult would steal Christmas from a child, and saddened that she took away presents generously donated by the community through the F.O.P.

After consulting with the county attorney and the district court judge, deputies arrested Amanda J. Beard, 28, of Brandenburg on a warrant for theft by deception under $300

Beard will be arraigned in Meade District Court on Wednesday.

I stopped giving to these toy drives when I had my daughter's Brownie troop and we "adopted" a poor family through our church. We received first names only and the "wish" list request was outrageous...video game system with games, clothing from an exclusive boutique only, American girl dolls and clothes and accessories, CD players and CDs, you get the picture.

My own kids don't have those things and there is no way on earth I would use the troops money such frivolous items! I respectfully told the nuns we would not be adopting this family since it would be hypocritical to give such expensive gifts when there were poor families who needed warm clothing and food more.

Now we adopt a home bound senior citizen in the neighborhood for a year, doing odd jobs, running errands, visiting, making sure all is ok and they are eating enough, warm (or cool), etc.

It is sad that a lot of gift programs and shop with a cop program get taken advantage. I do donate gifts to a domestic violence shelter that my aunt does advisory work for. This shelter serves abused women and their children. Illegals rarely seek services from this shelter because the police and courts are heavily involved with the shelter. The woman and kids in this shelter pretty much only ask for clothing, toiletries and basic toys on their wish lists and I have sponsored two families this year.

There are other charities and organizations in my area that illegals take advantage of if they can. When I was in a college a friend of mine who was in a sorority volunteered a food bank and soup kitchen that was funded by private donations. There was one incident in which a man who didn't speak English would go in twice a week for food packages. The manager of the food bank spoke Spanish and the man told her that he had two deaf children at home and that he was struggling financially. The guy was illegal and he didn't have children and eventually deported. When ICE was investigating they went to the food bank and questioned the manager.

Sadly even Americans take advantage of these kinds of services as well. When it comes to charitable giving I think the best thing to do is to donate to charities and organizations like Special Olympics or organizations that have policies of not helping illegals.
