A friend of mine and I was discussing the problem of taking care of new disabled vets when it became clear that Iraqis were not going to "welcome us with rose petals in the street," I think Cheney put it. The consequences of a war that a president starts should have been that administrations responsibility to build hospitals and care centers prior to need. No, could not do that, we would have had to face the costs of war and properly tax to pay for it/ Yep, as a friend of mine said, "Leave George alone, he knows what he is doing." My other friend and I said that we hoped that George had adequate intelligence to prepare for the post-war costs of caring for vererans. Now we know that he did'nt. America goes to war and has to do an excellent job of assuming the posr-war veteran costs.

Then putting in a word for those that work in nursing homes. It is not a minimum wage job, it is a job that only pays minimum wage. $10 an hour is not going to attract really concerned and responsible people except in rare cases. So, are we going to settle for low paid aliens here, too?
