Thread: NumbersUSA: 287 (g) funds slashed!

I just talked to Idaho Mike Simpson's office and this bill is still in Committee as other sections of the bill are still being worked on, although the staffer said it's slim that the 287 (g) funding will be put back in. Simpson voted to keep the 287 (g) funding. He said, after this bill leaves Committee, it goes to the Senate first, then the House. So, let's all get ready to fight the Senate to put the 287 (g) back in.

Why would it go to the Senate first? I thought it would go to the House floor then the Senate.

Hmmmmmmmmmm? Maybe the staffer doesn't know. Some of them seem very confused.

may be it goes to the Senate first because all funding has to be approved by the house, those rats are in charge of the money, remember.

Ya we will all have to keep our eyes out for it, can't imanage when they are going to have time...all they do is go on vacation. (4th of july break) coming up.

You're right, it will go to the House floor for a full House vote first. All spending bills must originate in the House of Representatives.

First it will go to the House floor for a vote. When that is done it will then go to the Senate floor for a vote. If there are changes made in the Senate, it will than go to conference for an agreeance on a single budget. Once that is done it is sent to the President for approval or veto.
