A citizen of Mexico may drive their car over here using their Mexican license as long as they are here legally but I believe there is a limit as to how far north they can go, just as Americans can drive in Mexico.
Mexicans who come here legally are required to have a visa and their car must be in good shape to get past Mexican authorities or they need to have enough money to pay them off.
BTW as of the end of this year anyone going into Mexico will be required to have a passport!

A Mexican driver's license is just as valid in the USA as a USA license is in Mexico or Canada, unfortunately.

I drove an Armored Truck (money) in 2 different states for 20+ years. We listened to a Police Scanner judicously so neither my partners nor I would walk into a bank robbery in progress if it were possible. Now that I am retired and work from home, I still listen to my scanners for fun. Recently, I have heard calls by the California Highway Patrol, either requesting permission or having permission denied by a supervisor to impound cars where the driver was either unlicensed or the car was unregistered. The some officers were told the situation didn't "qualify" for impound. WHAT? HOW's THAT? Since the CHP appears to have mobile computers as I never hear license or registration info over the air like local police, it has been impossible to determine if they are giving illegals a free pass on driving without a license or reg. The latino caucus spearheaded by "One Bill Gill" Gill Cedillo is yet again proposing drivers licenses for Illegals. This is quite a grand stand manuver as the Governor is up for election in November. In 20 years of listening, I have never heard of an officer needing "permission" to impound a car. Politics and political correctness seems to be dictating "who" gets pinched for breaking the same laws. Good thing lady justice is wearing a blindfold, so we can't see her crying. I guess we need to change the statment "....and Justice for All", to "...and Justice for who is chosen".
