Re-election Through Intimidation?: This Dem Governor Just Issued a Threat

in News, Politics / by Robert Rich / on October 14, 2014 at 3:46 pm /

As midterm elections are quickly approaching, it’s been made quite clear that Democrats will be fighting an uphill battle. Seeing how they’re looking at potential losses to their Republican opposition, some have taken to drastic measures to try to safeguard their place in the political realm.
Apparently, some have become so unnerved they’ve begun threatening their constituents.
As reported by Breitbart, Governor John Hickenlooper said that he could respond to losing his position “by commuting the death sentence of mass shooter Nathan Dunlap.” For those unaware, Dunlap is the man who walked into an Aurora Chuck E. Cheese in 1993 and began shooting up the place.
    Dunlap

After having lost his job, he felt the best method of retaliation would be to kill as many of the establishment’s patrons as possible. In all, he ended up murdering four out of the five victims he shot during his possibly racially motivated attack, as all those he shot were white.
When police caught up to him just a few hours later, he was reportedly at his girlfriend’s apartment where the two were having sex together.
Needless to say, Dunlap is still alive today on account of Hickenlooper as he granted the murderer “temporary reprieve” right before his death sentence was to be carried out in 2013. According to the National Journal, he did this to take a stand against the death penalty, but his actions politically backfired as the public, as well as many family members of those Dunlap had killed, were outraged.
Just as Obama ignores whichever laws he wants, Hickenlooper is saying that he’d do everything in his power to ensure his legacy – the savior of Dunlap – remains intact. It was back in August when he said, during a CNN interview, there are things a Governor can still do between the time he loses the election and when the next Governor is sworn in.
    Hickenlooper

    According to Breitbart:
When pressed to explain this statement, Hickenlooper said that if his Republican opponent wins in November, “there obviously remedies that the governor can do, you know, I could give it full clemency between election day and the end of the year.”
He said [he] would have “a number of different opportunities” to be sure Dunlap wasn’t executed.
Threatening the longevity of an animal such as Dunlap cannot be construed as anything less than a threat. However, it seems that no matter the outcome of the midterm election, Hickenlooper is set on allowing Dunlap to live despite the heinous nature of his crimes in spite of what a court of law deemed adequate as punishment.

Democrat John Hickenlooper threatens to grant clemency to mass shooter if he loses
    October 7, 2014

Democrat Governor of Colorado John Hickenlooper is on the verge of losing his bid for re-election. Hickenlooper is so desperate, that he’s threatening the people of Colorado that he will grant cleemency to mass shooter Nathan Dunlap. Why this ass hasn’t been given the death penalty by know I don’t understand. Dunlap shot 5 and killed 4 at an Aurora Chuck E. Cheese in 1993. 21 years later, he’s still alive and may go free because a slimy desperate Democrat like Hickenlooper will throw a tantrum if he loses re-election.

Democrat John Hickenlooper threatens to grant Clemency to mass shooter if he loses

If Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper (D) is not re-elected in November, he says he “could” respond to the loss by commuting the death sentence of mass shooter Nathan Dunlap.

Dunlap is the infamous killer who shot 5 and killed 4 at an Aurora Chuck E. Cheese in 1993. He was angered over being fired, and Denver Magazine 5280 reports that Dunlap was at his girlfriend’s apartment having sex with her when the police tracked him down “only…a few hours” after the shootings.

Dunlap was sentenced to death but when the date for his execution came up in 2013, Hickenlooper granted a “temporary reprieve.” The National Journal reported that he chose this action as a way to pass the buck on taking a firm stand on the death penalty. Families of the victims gunned down by Dunlap were heartbroken and outraged.

The Journal also pointed out that Hickenlooper has since indicated he could further his action — changing it to full clemency — should Coloradans elect Republican Bob Beauprez instead of him in November.

New Quinnipiac poll shows GOP's Bob Beauprez maintaining a 46%-42% lead over Dem Gov. John Hickenlooper in the Colorado governor's race. With hard work, we will turn Colorado red this November and get it moving in the right direction with a strong conservative like Beauprez in the governor's office.

Poll: Beauprez Leads Hickenlooper By 4 Points

DENVER (CBS4) – A new Quinnipiac poll out Wednesday morning shows Republican Bob Beauprez leading in the race for Colorado governor.
The independent survey from Connecticut-based Quinnipiac University shows Colorado voters favor Beauprez over incumbent Democrat John Hickenlooper 46 percent to 42 percent.

That is a change from last month’s poll by Quinnipiac when Beauprez led by 10 points.
Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University poll, said in a prepared statement that there has been a shift by some likely voters since the last poll.
“After seeming to waver in our last survey, women and independent voters pull Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper back from the abyss and reinvigorate a race that’s very close,” said Malloy.
Election Day is in three weeks.
