    Friends of ALIPAC,

The decisions you make at this very moment about how much time and energy you will or will not put into these e-mail alerts can easily be the deciding factor on Amnesty for illegal aliens in 2009.

The political dominoes are wobbling and while Arkansas has gone our way, many other states are in play. If we defeat in-state tuition for illegals in these other states then the dominoes will fall against the big dominoes in DC which are the Dream Act Amnesty prelude to the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Amnesty. If too few of you respond with too little time and energy, then in-state tuition for illegals will likely pass in NJ, CO, RI, CA, and WI which will topple the political dominoes towards the passage of amnesty in DC.

Members of Congress and the US Senate are very alert to state legislation that passes or fails in their home states. Victories for our side, which reflects the wishes over 80% of Americans, can help stop Amnesty in DC. Wins for the illegal aliens and their supporters will help them pass Amnesty.

The decision is yours based on how fervently you do or do not respond to our action requests.

If you have not completed your calls and e-mails to CO and NJ yet, please revisit yesterday's alert. While we are receiving a strong national response in CO, our sources in NJ tell us your responses are not adequate to create the political critical mass needed at this time.

ALIPAC Action Alert against in-state tuition for illegals in CO and NJ
    http://www.alipac.us/ftopict-150955.html

The National Council of La Raza and the Dream Activists have just made a major strategic mistake by launching their DC efforts in support of Dream early. They are falling back from the states, but you must help us advance in the states before we move on Washington!

For those of you that are completing your activities in CO and NJ, please advance to the next state on our political battle map!

    ALL HANDS TO WISCONSIN!

The Governor of Wisconsin is pushing his state legislators to pass in-state tuition for illegal aliens. Start your calls and e-mails with the Governor's office. Then we need you to contact every member of the Wisconsin house and senate you can.

Governor Doyle has inserted the provision into the state budget bill!

    Sample Message

    -----

"I am calling/writing to ask you to remove Governor Doyle's in-state tuition for illegal aliens measure from the state budget. Any bill like this should be considered in a separate bill instead of being inserted in a budget bill which deprives all Wisconsin citizens of due legislative process!

Furthermore, taxpayers should not be forced to pay for benefits for illegal aliens such as in-state tuition which will replace innocent American students in the limited seats in college. In-state tuition for illegal aliens is a violation of federal laws passed in 1996.

Recent polls show that 63-83% (for sources contact alipac.us) of Americans oppose in-state tuition for illegal aliens. Please represent the majority of your constituents that oppose this measure. In-state tuition bills have been rejected in every state they were filed in since 2005 with the exception of Nebraska. The US Congress has rejected similar 'Dream Act' legislation several times already."

Message from a contact in NJ:

I called to speak to both the Senate and Assembly chairperson's offices about this legislation. The staff director for Diegnan did a check of both the Assembly and Senate bills and found that they were introduced in January 2008, and there has been no action taken on either of them.

The New Jersey budget is consuming the time of every elected official serving on a Senate or Assembly budget committee from now until May. The state is in a fiscal crisis and there is no money for this kind of generosity to non-citizens not lawfully in the U.S. The chances of this legislation coming up for hearings or a vote, in the budget committees between now and then is 0%. If there is any attempt to insert the in-state tuition for illegal immigrants idea into the larger budget bill, then the chairs of the budget committees and the higher education committees would all have a say in whether they thought this was a good bill. All are on record as opposing this legislation.

The spokesperson mentioned that ALIPAC members had flooded the phones yesterday but no one could figure out what might have occurred to make anyone think that there was activity on these bills in NJ. The spokesperson also mentioned that there is a big lawsuit filed in California by out-of-state students which might be headed to the Supreme Court. In it, these American students are demanding the benefit of in-state tuition rates because otherwise, it has been discrimination against American citizens for California to allow non-American illegal immigrants to obtain in-state tuition rates. The class action might cost California over $1 billion in refunds to the American out-of-state students who complain they were over-charged in earlier years while still students. Both current and former students are among the 100,000+ members of the class. The chairpersons of the committees are highly aware of this lawsuit and believe NJ would place itself and its taxpayers in a lot of trouble for violating one or more federal statutes.
The case that my contact appears to have learned about from calling and spending a half-hour of time with the staff person might be this one

"I'm calling/writing to oppose (Bill Number). Please stand up for Americans and defeat in-state tuition for illegal aliens. There should be no non emergency taxpayer benefits for illegal aliens. This is unfair to American students, American taxpayers and families, and a super majority of Americans oppose in-state tuition for illegal aliens. It's a violation of Federal Law and many polls say a vast majority of Americans oppose in-state tuition for illegals"

Poll: Licenses and in-state tuition for illegal immigrants massively opposed!

In-state tuition urged for NJ illegal immigrants

    March 30, 2009

JERSEY CITY, N.J. - A state panel says illegal immigrants in New Jersey should be eligible for in-state tuition and be able to obtain driver licenses.

Those were two key recommendations of the governor's blue-ribbon panel studying immigrant policy.

Gov. Jon S. Corzine said Monday he agrees that illegal immigrants should pay in-state tuition to attend New Jersey's public colleges. But he didn't endorse the panel's recommendation that illegal immigrants be extended state driving privileges, saying that's an issue for the federal government to decide.

The panel also recommended that New Jersey create a government agency dedicated to immigrant affairs. Corzine said he likes that idea and will propose it to state lawmakers.

Some immigrant advocacy groups are welcoming the panel's report as a good first step.
