So Paulson could, in theory, take all the money, put it in his checking account, and be exempt from any criminal charges.

Me too!!! If there was any justice in this world, Paulson would have ended that hearing by being led off in handcuffs. The guy is a world class crook and is trying to hoodwink us all.
