    Statement on FISA ACT

    by Ron Paul
    June 25, 2008

Statement on HR 6304, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Amendments before the US House of Representatives, June 20, 2008

Mr. Speaker, I regret that due to the unexpected last-minute appearance of this measure on the legislative calendar this week, a prior commitment has prevented me from voting on the FISA amendments. I have strongly opposed every previous FISA overhaul attempt and I certainly would have voted against this one as well.

The main reason I oppose this latest version is that it still clearly violates the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution by allowing the federal government to engage in the bulk collection of American citizens' communications without a search warrant. That US citizens can have their private communication intercepted by the government without a search warrant is anti-American, deeply disturbing, and completely unacceptable.

In addition to gutting the fourth amendment, this measure will deprive Americans who have had their rights violated by telecommunication companies involved in the Administration's illegal wiretapping program the right to seek redress in the courts for the wrongs committed against them. Worse, this measure provides for retroactive immunity, whereby individuals or organizations that broke the law as it existed are granted immunity for prior illegal actions once the law has been changed. Ex post facto laws have long been considered anathema in free societies under rule of law. Our Founding Fathers recognized this, including in Article I section 9 of the Constitution that “No bill of attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.â€

Ron Paul outlines his fiscal policy

    Mary Stegmeir 11:39 PM, Jun 21, 2011

Council Bluffs, Ia. – Limiting government control over the country’s financial system and cutting publicly funded benefit programs would revitalize the U.S. economy, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul said Tuesday during a campaign stop here.

Paul, who also ran for president in 2008, released a statement outlining his fiscal policy shortly before talking money matters with a crowd of more than 100 at a local hotel.

“If we can deliver to our children a sound monetary system, free markets (and) property rights, we won’t have to worry about them – they will take care of themselves,â€

Ron Paul: TSA Should Be Abolished (AUDIO)

    Posted: 07/ 5/11 02:21 PM ET

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is calling for the elimination of the Transportation Security Administration and recommending that the agency be replaced with "real privatization of security."

"The press reports are horrifying," writes the Texas congressman in an op-ed published online by The Hill. "Children molested; disabled people abused; men and women subjected to unwarranted groping and touching of their most private areas; involuntary radiation exposure. If the perpetrators were a gang of criminals, their headquarters would be raided by SWAT teams and armed federal agents. Unfortunately, in this case the perpetrators are armed federal agents. This is the sorry situation ten years after the creation of the Transportation Security Administration."

Paul called such treatment "appalling." He addressed his introduction of the American Traveler Dignity Act, saying that the legislation would establish "that airport security screeners are not immune from any US law regarding physical contact with another person, making images of another person, or causing physical harm through the use of radiation-emitting machinery on another person."

The presidential hopeful outlined his position on the TSA during his weekly "Texas Straight Talk" audio address over the weekend.

The Des Moines Register reported last month:

Paul would like to gradually close down the Transportation Security Administration and give private airlines responsibility for airport security.
“The airlines, they would’ve had guns on the airplanes if the government hadn’t prevented them," he told the Iowa-based outlet. "The people responsible for the property -- I mean we worry about the government protecting armored trucks. And nobody robs them.â€

    NeoCon Global Government

    by Rep. Ron Paul, MD
    June 14, 2005

    Rep. Ron Paul, MD

This week Congress will vote on a bill to expand the power of the United Nations beyond the dreams of even the most ardent left-wing, one-world globalists. But this time the UN power grabbers aren't European liberals; they are American neo-conservatives, who plan to use the UN to implement their own brand of world government.

The “United Nations Reform Act of 2005â€
