Roy Beck's e-mail to Michigan voters
As copied from the Tancredo for President unofficial blog (www.tancredo4prez.blogspot.com), below this paragraph is a copy of an e-mail sent by Roy Beck of NumbersUSA to Michigan voters. On the question of "How Good Are The Promises of GOP Candidates to Prevent Amnesties & Send Current Illegal Aliens Home?", Mr. Beck gives a rating of "EXCELLLENT" to Duncan Hunter, Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney. He gives a rating of "GOOD" to Ron Paul. Mr. Beck gives a rating of "FAIR" to Mike Huckabee, a rating of "BAD" to Rudy Giuliani and a rating of "ABYSMAL" to John McCain.
DEAR MICHIGAN VOTERS CONCERNED ABOUT IMMIGRATION,
If stopping illegal immigration and preventing an amnesty are top priorities for you, the latest ratings in the right-hand column make it quite clear two candidates who don't deserve your vote in the Michigan Republican Presidential Primary on Tuesday.
As for who deserves your vote based on immigration ... all the other GOP candidates are much better in the details of their promises to stop any amnesty and to make the 12-20 million illegal aliens already here go back home. Look over their ratings for yourself.
(Since there are questions about whether Michigan's Democratic Primary will have any meaning, you Democrats -- and certainly you Independents -- may want to vote in the Republican contest to ensure that as many anti-amnesty votes are cast for anti-amnesty candidates as possible.)
You can view our ratings in 16 immigration categories for all Democratic and Republican candidates on the same page at:
Presidential Immigration Ratings
Please print out this Alert -- and also the GRID -- and share them with as many voters as possible. Post the copies on bulletin boards and hand out to others.
ROMNEY & THOMPSON HIGHLIGHT
McCAIN'S AMNESTY POSITION
I'm not sure I've seen a more clarifying moment on amnesty in the last year than the back-to-back comments by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Gov. Mitt Romney (R-Mass.) and Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) in Thursday night's debate in South Carolina.
Watch this illuminating exchange on:

Then watch Thompson's followup on:
Thompson Video
No candidate has done more advertising against amnesty or more raising of the issue in debates than Romney, who has constantly tried to make sure that nobody forgets McCain's role as the architect of two years of giant amnesty bills in Congress.
But in the South Carolina debate, it was the moderator who first put McCain on the spot: "Senator McCain, the president's push for immigration reform failed mainly because of disagreements over your plan for dealing with the 12 million people now here illegally. You say you've learned your lesson, you'd secure the borders first. OK. Then how would you deal with the illegals?"
McCain has avoided answering that question for months, and almost succeeded again Thursday night. But when you closely parse what he said, you can see the McCain Amnesty Position:
1. McCain believes there was nothing wrong with the Comprehensive Amnesty legislation that American citizens defeated in the Senate last spring.
2. McCain suggests that the reason citizens opposed his Comprehensive Amnesty bill was not because they oppose legalizing illegal aliens but because they don't trust the government to secure our borders.
3. McCain promises to secure our borders and to aggressively deport about 2 million illegal aliens who have gotten into additional trouble with the law.
4. McCain will allow all the rest of the 12-20 million illegal aliens to remain permanently in the United States -- at least, he refuses to say that any of them have to go home.
Romney's and Thompson's description of what they would do with the illegal aliens provided a great contrast that surely helped most watchers of the debate see that McCain remains the Amnesty King that he has been for years.

McCAIN RE-DEFINES 'AMNESTY' SO HE CAN CONTINUE TO WORK FOR REWARDS FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS
After his leadership for amnesties knocked him out of his front-runner status last spring, it seems like many Americans forgot about his role. How else to explain that Sen. McCain (R-Ariz.) has suddenly become the front-runner in the national polls for the Republican nomination?
Recent private polling that I've seen suggests that large numbers of voters who strongly want illegal aliens to go home are not aware that Sen. McCain intends to allow most of the illegal aliens to remain permanently in this country.
In part, that may be because McCain in nationally televised debates and in campaign stops has said that he has never -- and will never -- support "amnesty." It is difficult for even the most cynical voters to believe that a candidate would tell a direct lie in such public settings.
But McCain justifies his claims by re-defining what "amnesty" means. According to McCain, it isn't amnesty to allow illegal aliens to live here permanently and keep American jobs, if you make them pay a fine and learn English.
As Romney pointed out on last Sunday's talk shows, that is a mighty big reward for law-breaking, whatever you call it. And as Thompson said Sunday night, rewarding illegal aliens with the right to stay will just entice millions more to come.
We at NumbersUSA have kept track of all of Sen. McCain's efforts to flood American occupations and communities with foreign workers and their dependents.

I hope all the information that our NumbersUSA team has gathered for you on the GRID and Candidates pages will be helpful to you as you decide how to vote.
We will continue to modify the GRID as candidates change.
SINCERELY,
Roy Beck

I think that the McCain support is fishy. Something is just not right. I have a feeling that McCain is going to be shoved down our throats if we like it or not. If you think about it all of illegal immigration has been shoved down our throats and the United States citizen has been trying to fight it all along. Why should they be fair about thest elections? They have not been fair about anything else.
What we need is an independent to come in at the last minute. But even then the counts and electorals will probably not be correct.<div>''Life's tough......it's even tougher if you're stupid.''

The letter mentions McCain a lot.
I would have liked to see the letter work up the good candidates more.
Let the bad sell themselves or their own agenda.
There used to be a law in merchandisings that as long as a commercial was being mentioned or talked about, whether it was positive or negative, it would never go away.
Maybe the law also applies to politicians.???

Fox News is a joke and will always publicize the anti-Romney angle.
An interesting point here is that Romney's 'No Amnesty' pledge from Numbers has been bumped recently to 'Excellent' from 'Good.'
National polls at this time show McCain in the lead. Couple this with Hillary's recent momentum (and 'no one is illegal' proclamations). At this early point, it's McCain v. Clinton. (or Obama; no difference)
IF this happens, game over.
NOW is the time to get behind a viable Republican candidate (i.e, ROMNEY) to help him build momentum.

"Fox News is a joke and will always publicize the anti-Romney angle."
They sure appear to be heading this way
As I stated last night , Fox HAS NOT been a friend to Romney
It appears their fair haired boy now has gone from Rudi to McCain
but I don't think McC is electable by most of the conservative voters
To many of us remember comprehensive and his backing of it
along with his lap dogs Graham and Lieb , who are both
open borders supporters
