    What I saw today....

Every Saturday morning our children have swimming classes. Near the swimming facility there is a rather notorious day laborer hangout where on a typical Saturday morning we see a dozen or so laborers waiting to be picked up. This morning while passing the intersection I did a double-take. I would say it was closer to 100 day laborers this morning. I suspect many of the ones I saw this morning are part of the flood rushing the border before efforts are made to clamp down on the border. Anyone else noticed a surge in day laborers in their areas lately?

Yes! I live in Encinitas and I noticed it too. I really want to get people together and protest them, but I haven't had a lot of time to devote to it. Maybe in summer, when I'm off work.

Wouldn't it be grand to gather a bunch of supporters (safety in numbers) and stand at these sites with BIG signs that identify them as illegals. Just a simple sign, with an arrow pointing in their direction, that reads, "INS: ILLEGALS FOUND HERE"

They could already have the guard on the border if they wanted them there, they are stalling to give the rest of them a chance to come in.

ProudUSCitizen, I live north of Encinitas, but our swimming facility is in Encinitas. Encinitas Blvd. just off the I-5 is where I noticed a swarm of day laborers this morning. Guess you saw it too.... As for protesting the day laborers, it can get a bit dicey unless you have enough numbers. I know of a group in Vista that is doing just that--I posted a story about them the other day in the news section. Also, the San Diego Minutemen have been engaging in the day laborer issue. Feel free to PM me for some additional contact info re getting out there to protest day laborers. Encinitas is definitely overdue. And the location is right by that great city park, too!

    Concerned Mother,

This is just another example of what McCain and Kennedy really want - Illegal aliens hanging around kids. You might want to have the pool management install the vinyl strips into the chain link fence to cut off their view from the outside into the pool area. Ditto for the parking lot.

Consider calling Encinitas police when you see em gawking through the fence at the kids.

Recommendation for our "esteemed" flaming liberal senators: Senator, show America your affection for illegals. Arrange for your daughter or grand daughter to date members of the MS-13 in beautiful Nuevo Laredo!

What part of "We don't owe our jobs to India" are you unable to understand, Senator?

They hang out on the sidewalk by a gas station which has a full-time security crew to keep them off their property. I've had to make a pit stop at the gas station for my kids before. Even with security I feel very uneasy there with so many aimless men wandering around. My swimming facility is not directly adjacent, but a beautiful city park is. I've stopped taking my kids there because of the day laborers. It's not worth the risks.

Well it probably is because they are flooding the border but I am trying to be the optimist and hope maybe it is because they are not getting picked up for work because employers are getting antsy.
